Just finished building this workbench. Great design! Affordable, easy to build, and it goes up in no time. I just built an 8 ft section to see if I liked it now I’m going to wrap the rest of my garage in the bench. Thanks!
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Finally a solid workbench build without all the jointers and sanding and useless crap that has nothing to do with useable space. You earned another subscriber.
I really appreciate it! Big Logan Channel will be doing a variety of things within the theme of Create/Build/Explore/Laugh. Informative and entertaining!
If you want to anchor to the floor all you need is a 16d nail and a piece of 16 ga. rebar wire. Drill a 1/4 in hole and put the wire and nail in the hole and drive in. Try and get that out. You will need a crow bar.
Great project. I use screws so I can take apart easily when I get another idea what would be better. And I don’t use horizontal runner on the floor. Just legs in front so I can clean the garage easily. Also poly the top to prevent staining.
I loved the idea of the floating shelf and the simple science behind it. I did manage to add a touch to it. I do not plan to store much on the shelves. Maybe a few lightweight big items, easy to move. So I used 1/4" sanded sheets to the top in sections of the cross members...only a few though. Like two 18" sections. The rest of the top I nailed down . So here is my little touch. I also nailed the ply sheet on the bottom of the shelf, where I cut the top sections to create a space to store, those rarely used items. I just lift the two top floating pieces. Did not feel like I need to buy hinges. I enjoyed the video and the humor. Keep up the great DYI's although your buddies were doing all the work..LOL. Stay safe!
I used your measurements (I love the 43" height, I'm 6'4") and I love the comments I get saying it's too high. Well, it's prefect for me! 😄 Big fan of the 45 degree angle too, did it on the bench and the shelves like you, put peg board up between the 2 and went crazy with another 45 with the peg board. Thanks for sharing, nice work!
Man! I totally love the simplicity of this build. Yezzir! Loved the vid! For a couple of weeks I’ve been trying to figure out how to organize the geerage. Ima try and mimic this build. Auride!
Thank you for posting these. I was scouting ideas for my workshop overhaul and found your videos. I adjusted a few things from your design to work better for my space and I'm currently building it. I'll post a link once I've made it a little further along in the build. Added shelves for six Milwaukee organizer cases and will leave room between the bench and upper shelf for French cleats. Thanks again!
Nice I just bought my first house and was looking at ideas on an L shaped bench with a 45 corner that bumps up for my Dremel station I also need room for chop saw, my tool box, mini fridge, tv, and motorcycle parts! Also need to account for peg board wall and French cleat wall! Hopefully I can pull it together
Freaking amazing~ as a girl id dress it up a bit, but other than that its freaking awesome! I've watched this like 5 times today. Doing it~ but sanding it all down, adding some pics to the wall, and maybe painting it white. With a continuation of TEXAS STARS, FROM MY WORK BENCH BUILD. Thanks for sharing~ cute kid and cat~
I've been looking for ideas to build a workbench, and this is it man! I had no choice but to subscribe to the BLC after seeing this bench! Keep it up big fella!
I was looking for some inspiration, the second video helped to understand the material which was key for me to also understand more about building stuff. Thanks for creating this content! If I upload a video of how we built it I will link back to this video. Thanks a ton!
Great stuff. I don't understand the need to have a horizontal runner along the bottom. Might want to use pressure treated lumber where coming into direct contact with the floor. You can alternatively use metal post brackets to raise up the legs a few inches. Minimally paint the ENDS to seal them. Keep that bottom level easily accessible so that you can still get in there when you hose out the garage,
Loving the edits man 👌 wouldn't expect you to only have couple thousand subs with the quality and effort you put in. Subscribed and impressed! Keep it up
HEY Logan awesome build. I was wanting to redesign my existing work bench. I came across your channel and found your design I like your design the best. Basically, i already built a L shaped work bench years ago. So I'm just adding the floating shelf and 45 degree angle corner peice in. It's not going to be as long as yours. I'll email you a pic once the project is done. The best part of this project it's not going to cost me a dime. I have leftover scrap wood from my last build chicken coop. Thank you for sharing your design.
i thought you said the sketchup was free im trying to do the same desine in my garage but i need to draw it out first and im trying to find the software you used to desin it
great project. 2 Questions: What is the height of the bench (from the floor) and what is the distance from the bench top to the floating shelf? thanks!
Great build. Thanks for explaining why you are using concrete nails. I found it odd to see that but understand it. Tip: Drill hole for the tapcon, drop in a zip tie. Send in tapcon, cut off the zip tie. Zip tie gives the tapcon something to bite into and fill the gap. Watch your speed with the talcon as you can still strip it out.
Question, do you use an impact or regular drill to send tapcom? Can an impact break the concrete when sending a tapcom? Certainly can see that happening regardless if bottoming out. Thanks!
Great job and sense of humor...güdintite the Svedish version, LMAO. Did one very similar to this about 12 years ago...had to tear it out so we could push the back wall out to extend our Master bath....your video has inspired me to build back better than my first one. Thanks
good stuff right there.... Ill paint the undersides and back of mine with ultra white paint to relect light and make it easier for me to see whats on shelves! Great ideas thanks!
Question, I apologize if someone already asked. When attaching to the garage floors, you guys' pound in using concrete nails. Why do you prefer this to the 22-caliber concrete nail gun?
Adding vertical support 2x4s on the back of the workbench up to the back of the upper shelf would reduce the need to put giant lag bolts to hold the top shelf secure.
AWESOME workbench guys, and you all have a GREAT working relationship, that makes the video fun to watch as well as informative. Oh, and greetings from me in the UK.
Try split drive fasteners. Drill a 1/4 hole and drive them in. I think they are made by Simpson. Also two #16 nails work just as good for this application. Nice work!
I’ve run into a lot of trouble trying to drill through my concrete floor. Some times the drill bit would make zero progress. In the two holes I managed to drill far enough, the tapcon screws would either snap In half or wouldn’t screw Into the pilot hole. Are there any other options to secure the bottom board?
that's a lot of framing for a cdx ply top and a shelf with a cdx ply, maybe im missing something though?? the bottom plate is also an interesting choice. is it a wall? any concerns with moisture? its a workbench and shelf though, so the title is legit.

How tall did you make the bench top?
@@No_where_man-y6y I pretty much followed the plan from Part 2 of this video and made it 43” high.
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?

@Albert Levi Instablaster :)
Low cost in 2019. Now worth 40k. Great investment my dude
LOL i know when I was totaling this up I was thinking 2$ for 2x4x96 only to find out they are $8.40....dropping to $7.20
One day lol one day...

LOVE YOUR ENERGY BRO - for someone who's never done this before, you made it seem so easy. I just picked up my 2X4s and hardware and am ready! Thanks
Thanks man! Be sure to check out the Part 2 Video with some more details before you start your project! Good Luck!
Truck bed liner makes a very nice upgrade and adds a lot of durability to the work top. Spray on or roll on.

Canada here, love this setup to the point I'm about to go buy some material.
Being I'm NO professional... what material did you use size of lumber ect
2x4”x8’ for studs, 1/2” plywood for bench tops, 1/8” plywood for shelving tops, minimum 2-3/4” screws for fastening. Thanks for watching!
What kind of tools do you recommend?
Is it necessary to drill pilot holes before drilling in all screws to studs?
Great build Logan!
