To increase passenger handling capacity the bottle neck is security check. That is where the focus should be. Instead it is used as a smoke screen to collect personal data through personal surveillance.

This is similar to Aadhar which
Wasn't Mandatory until it was, Wasn't arm twisted to accept until it was, Wasn't Security risk until it was, Wasn't a breach of privacy until it was,
Wasn't used by illintented People until it was, The government has backed out of aadhar suggesting you to delink due to frauds, Same would happen to this also.

    Really a dangerous move.
This is just a process to create personalized data of individuals.
When it can be shared with third party and agencies, it is really dangerous.
Hope there are better ways to make flying a pleasure, for seamlessly providing security checks.
In India even educated and elite does not understand what data privacy means. It's very sad.

Since govt has already privatised the Aviation industry I think they won't have any concerns on citizen's privacy n all and also for us we can't even go for an RTI to know more about this .

It's a well thought out plan to collect private data and sell it for targeted advertising as well as do surveillance. Digi yatra is a non govt entity joined owned by Adani Airports 74% and Airports Authority of India (26%).

The Digi Yatra project is an initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MCA), but it’s noteworthy that the Ministry does not provide any budgetary support for its implementation. Instead, the expenditure is borne by Airport Operators, according to the Ministry’s press release in February 2023.
The DYF website informs that the Airport Authority of India (AAI) controls only 26% shares of the entity, and the rest of the shareholders-Cochin International Airport, Bangalore International Airport, Hyderabad International Airport, Mumbai International Airport, and Delhi International Airport, hold 14.8% of the shares each.

What I feel's Narendra Modi Sarkar's a big failure in many things. To hide that they're creating so many hype around with some show off strategies.
Sometimes they're in a rush to prove the world they're ahead of time this Govt's actually compromising Citizen's privacy and much more.
Aadhaar and EVMs are another examples.
Even some banks are advising to delink Aadhaar from bank accounts and most of the advanced foreign countries dropped EVMs .
But here in India since they work hard, even from the school level from rewriting textbooks to gradually deleting fundamental rights and substituting religious sentiments we can't expect our people to know the gravity of this issue.

So for people who are worried about the privacy issues :-
    1) The photo which is getting captured is saved as a template and automatic scripts are in place which delete the data after 4 hours from the server
    2) The biometric data is saved in a template (something like random phone number), not in actual png or jpg format
    3) The data is masked and anonymisation principle ( google data anonymization ) is applied while processing biometric data
    4) Data cannot be reversed after it is processed
    5) Security of data is ensure by cloud integration by default all the data stored in cloud is encrypted
    6) Digi Yatra is enabling passengers to reduce boarding time
    7) Only people who are not using the Digi-Yatra Mobile application are getting registered on the airport itself, if you use mobile app you can enter inside the airport without even showing your ID
    : ) I hope this helps
