      @Steve Hansen I use my drone on every topo our company takes on. Even if it’s something best suited for LiDAR. Having an up to date aerial for the people in the office is a game changer.

    I’m a grader and mainline pipe. This tech is so cool. It’s really come a long way. Drone lidar tech and intelligent equipment has made it a lot easier and faster for owners and developers to get their jobs done faster and while saving money! Still a lot of unknowns under the dirt but would be cool to see a development in that area too!

    I’d like to also say that I had similar results after flying a job that we did as boots on the ground taking us 8 days and having some areas that were to steep to survey and having vegetation that was extremely thick. We flew the site in a crisscross pattern taking about 8 hours (combined field / office) to generate the same contours. Thanks to rock robotic for their continued upgrades to the rock surveyor program!

    I'd take longer observations on control points, especially around tall trees. RTK is great, but there's still fuzziness to the measurements, so it's great to get some averaging shots.

    Harrison... what is the make and model of that GNSS GPS used by Daniel in the video? Can that be used to create our own GCP's when doing non-survey type mapping and 3D modeling? I am amazed at the lidar and mapping these drones can now do. Being an Irrigation Consultant, we've had to hire planes with cameras and Surveyors to get us large contour maps for some large irrigation projects. I'm hoping to take Dy'an's Photogrammetry one-day training in San Francisco on March 25th. Will you be helping out then? I'm not a Surveyor or a Master Drone Pilot, but I'm getting more and more involved with the Photogrammetry and Lidar training and hopefully equipment. I can really see the value of all the "latest & greatest" technology that can be adapted and used in the Landscape Irrigation Industry. Looking forward to eventually getting your equipment and using your services... appreciate all of your videos... great info.

    Been following the awesome work you are doing, kudos! I’m about to start a drone business overseas, do I need to be a surveyor or a civil engineer to get into photogrammetry and LIDAR droning? Basically is it always possible to be just a data acquisition specialist and let the professional of the sector use the data?

    Is it possible to do a bathymetrical survey(River bed) with LIDAR tech?

    • @bokkenka
      @bokkenka 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need A) a laser that can penetrate water, and 2) to be able to account for refraction which is continually changing in moving water.

    • @lukajurjevic5364
      @lukajurjevic5364 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there are some bathymetric LiDAR systems such as RiEGL topo-bathy LiDAR sensor, but it is quite expensive! The system has to be designed for it (laser beam wavelength), and most systems cant do it!

    • @timd9430
      @timd9430 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be easier to drain the river bed using a couple buckets, take your gazillion LiDAR shots then refill it.... with those same buckets.

    Lidar versus Photogrammetry. Lidar is very expensive, the claim that vegetation can be eliminated with vegetation penetrating ability is somewhat dubious. How can it be proved. I have done several ground proofing exercises , like 470 km one of them . It has a place but is overemphasized in terms of aerial
