The goats aren't native, and have been quite destructive in some sensitive areas, especially steep ridges and summit areas, and a few years back, a man was killed by one at Hurricane Ridge.

The goats have since been removed back to their appropriate habitat.

Herb Crisler did a great job, he spent countless hours over tough terrain to film wildlife in remote parts of the Olympics.

Did you know him? My Grandfather was married to Herb's sister Phanoy(sp). I met Herb when he was close to death, he had to visit his sister and we were there as family to support. I was very young, ten or so.

@@BigMacProDaddy- Are you still out there? I never met him in person but he was my Grandfather's brother. (Albert Quentin Crisler) I didn't find out about him until after Grandpa Al passed away. I have a few photos of him in the Olympics, this movie, a book Lois wrote, & a picture of him w/ a long gray beard holding a baby. I wish I could have met him in person. Al was an adventurous guy also but in a different way. He flew airplanes, raced cars, motorcycles, did trick riding, & once built his own helicopter which crashed into the ocean where he drifted for a week! He got stuck in Greece once when he was acquiring gems.

There's a great old film I just found about him called "Mountain Man - Herb Crisler" It's a nice short historical film of his trek across the Olympics & his return 40 years later at 80 years old!!! Quite amazing.

For many years a cabin that Herb Crisler built stood in Cat Basin and was known as Cat Castle.By the late 1990's it had stàrted to fall over, and the huge snow fall of '98-'99 smashed it down. The scene at 6:37 appears to be in Cat Basin,a short distance south of where Cat Castle(also known as Castle in the Cat)was located.

Is that the cabin that they spent winters up there in? The film about his adventures in the Olympics said he and Lois spent 10 years in it, if it's the same one.
