"Hippies and Cowboys" by Cody is one of the greatest country songs of all time. Local North Texas boy Cody is making it! Spreading the true sounds of country and carrying the torch. What a proud feeling to be from the same Town/Area.
And Cast No Stones.
I was going to his shows in ft worth and dallas when there was like 100 people there. Awesome live performance... support the real local artist 👍🏻
@@chuckturner6984 Of course. Too many to mention.
@@Neto1ikon Hopefully I catch a show soon! Must have been a blast.
Review the song.... Uncle Lucius - Keep The Wolves Away
“Modern outlaw country” is exactly what I was thinking. That, and it was pretty heavy. While I respect it, I’m not usually too into country, but I’m gonna have to check out some more of his stuff.*
*(And this is why labels should not only be ok with, but actively support, reaction channels like this. I may never have been inspired to seek this dude out if I hadn’t been exposed to him here. And it’s not like I’m gonna play this video over and over just to hear the song instead of going to Spotify or something, so there’s no revenue lost. GET WITH THE FUCKING TIMES, MUSIC INDUSTRY!!)
Amen to this post. This is how I found out about Cody Jinks a couple years ago and became a HUGE FAN. You couldn't be more right.
Agree!
Cody Jinks used to be the lead singer of a heavy metal band called Unchecked Aggression before he changed to country
I would to see y'all reactions to some Cajun music
Do drank a beer from Luke Bryan this songs hits right in the feelings
IM SO HAPPY YALL LOVED CODY JINKS!!!!!!
Man cody Jinks music is awesome... Love me some country on nice cold or sunny day.. 💪💪💪👍👍👍🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
FUN FACT for anyone who doesn’t know. Cody jinks was riding in his car with his son during a storm and his son kept saying thunder and heavy rain over and over again and he went home and wrote this song in one hour and it became his number one song very shortly
His son was actually the inspiration for this song. There was a thunderstorm outside when they were driving and he said to his kid in the backseat “that’s some loud thunder and some heavy rain, huh bud?” Then his kid started chanting “loud thunder, heavy rain” over and over, and he thought it sounded good.
Cody Jinks has good story songs on this album too. I recommend “David”, “Dirt”, and “Mama Song”.
David is one of my favorite songs from him, I second this.
Definitely “ David” that song is amazing I constantly have it playing
Review the song.... Uncle Lucius - Keep The Wolves Away
David is a killer song forsure
beccaishereyay I was just about to type the same comment, great minds I guess👍
Cody Jinks and the guys and girls like him from Texas or the Red Dirt genre are all real country music. Well done G&R!! Thanks!!
Daniel Newcomer I definitely agree with you. Folk music and Red Dirt is real country music. I also like bluegrass.
Came from Oklahoma to Texas Friday night to see Cody Johnson, William Clark Green and Darrly Dodds. Amazing concert.
Bout time guys lol Cody jinks has tons of great music
@@sooner1028 I tried to see WCG here in NC but some crap came up and wasn't able to see him. Made it to the venue, met him but due to the person I was with, I had to leave. Yes this sucked.
Cody Jinks is my favorite singer today. He puts on one hell of a show and meets up and hangs out with his fans before and after his shows. Great guy
FINALLY TEXAS COUNTRY!!
You mean good country, just because you’re the “cowboy state” doesn’t mean you can claim music as yours
@@dainerome2116 you mean lone star state
@@maxbennett2596 no people refer Texas as the state of all the cowboys and shit but that is bs
Cody jinks no words, somewhere between I love you and I’m leaving, the way I am
Also 'cast no stone' and 'not the devil'. I have all 6 of his CDs including his newest and there isn't a bad song on any of them.
Ed Ford same bro music is great
Grey, mammas song
Finally you reached my genre of country. This is called Red Dirt Country, it's a more traditional/outlaw country from Texas and Oklahoma. If ya'll want to here more check out Uncle Lucius, Whiskey Myers, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Brandon Jenkins.
You forgot Turnpike troubadours and Randy Roger's Band. Or more importantly Parker McCollum. But yeah the point is they need to do some more Red Dirt Texas stuff
Red dirt is not “outlaw” country.
Whiskey Myers would be awesome! Also Keep the Wolves Away would be great
Throw in Turnpike Troubadours, Reckless Kelly,Roger Creager and Aaron watson...I can not like this enough!!!
Ryan fucking Bingham
Cody Jinks - "Somewhere Between I'm Leavin' and I'm Gone"
Lyrics are almost word for word Jackson Taylor and the sinners "letting go" released in '05
Kalene Williams Word for word? Hardly. Beyond one shared line - the first line of the song - the two are nothing alike.
Rob, listen to the entire 1st verse! All but 1 word is the same!
Jeremy Skinner Cody Jinks- Somewhere between I love you and I’m leavin’
Cody jinks just sold out red rocks 2 weeks ago. Great concert one of the best I've been too. And to let you know about the kind of man he is. As a song was starting a veteran in a wheelchair tried to get a picture of himself with cody in the background, cody let the music play and he went to the front and called the man back for a proper picture with cody. Love seeing that kind of personal attention from a star.
Turnpike Troubadours: Good Lord Lorrie or Gin smoke and lies or Before the Devil knows we're dead
Love Red dirt music ughh 🔥🔥
Love Cody Jinks 🔥🔥
Also his songs off of his new album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
hell yeah
I second Gin, Smoke and Lies!
I love that every video they post you suggest Turnpike. Great band! Would love if they did Good Lord Lorrie. Definitely top 5 Turnpike song
Love Turnpike Troubadours!! 1968 & 7 and 7 are great songs.
I like Down Here by Turnpike Troubadours
Cody Jinks is the real deal. He’s.not commercial, according to Nashville, but he is a great singer, songwriter
His son and him was driving in the thunder and rain and his son said loud thunder and heavy rain. And it stuck in his head. But love the channel new to it. Good job guys
Good song boss
This song always reminds me of Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. Being on mission, outside the wire. All the convoy security missions and foot patrols. Loving night missions because the darkness could keep you safe, but hating night missions at the same time, straining to hear the slightest noise because the darkness could be hiding an ambush. Going for days without sleep. The flashbacks are powerful.
The best country music isn’t from Nashville it’s from Texas and Appalachia
Steven Jones you hit it right on the money
You hit it right on the money
I'd add Oklahoma to that.
Ft Worth Tx here, truth. Saw Cody a couple weeks ago with Jamie Johnson, good show.
Better include Louisiana in that. Lot of talent from here
Cody Jinks - Somewhere in the middle
TURNPIKE TROUBADOURS - Any Song!! The Birdhunters, Good Lord Lorrie, Wrecked, Long Hot Summer Day... really all of their stuff is awesome
This one, Cody has much better songs than Loud and Heavy. Plus Check those Troubadours!
love when you guys nod your heads in unison and really get into the song.
The song seems to describe depression, worry and vices. That thin line between joy and pain could be the seal of a bottle, or the flick of a lighter, but once it's crossed it's like lightening strike. It burst everything open and changes the world you see, and every other noise is drowned out by the crash of the thunder.
"Loud thunder heavy rain
Thin line between joy and pain
It's a long strange trip it's all insane
You ain't ever gonna be the same
Living life through the night
Thin line of a lightning strike
Sometimes the only light
When the moon is tucked away"
pretty sure its about addiction to drugs
Tyler Childers- Follow you to virgie
Tyler Childers- nose on the grindstone
Chris knight- down the river
Colter wall- Caroline
Uncle Lucious- Keep the wolves away
makes a hell of a playlist
Legit how my playlist is set up plus a few
Add some Ben Caplan in there haha
And House and 90 Acres.
Yes keep the wolves away! On my work playlist.
Whiskey Myers - Broken Window Serenade, Early Morning Shakes, Frogman. That's just a couple of awesome songs. Check them out.
I got hooked on Cody Jinks years ago at a hole in the wall dive bar on the song (I don't wanna) "Rock and Roll" ... I fell in love and FELT that song. I asked everyone in that place who played it , and who he was... 2 concerts later I've now met Cody in person and you couldn't ask for a more real down to earth Real Person.
Glad you liked it. And you nailed it 100% - "raw" ... "not commercial" ... and "modern outlaw country". I'm impressed with your blind reaction. Cody is INCREDIBLE live ... with great fans who know every word to every song. This song - especially - could make most people's playlist.
I watched your "Killshot" reaction and went on a 3 hour binge watching session. You guys are fantastic and I love that you review all different genres of music, love the channel and you got my sub. Just plain awesome channel and reviews.
I don’t comment a lot but he is my favorite artist and have been around a long time but people don’t know him. Cowboys an hippies is another great song.
Keep making these great videos! Keep it real.
i like david. it tells a good story
I hope they do cowboys and hippies that song is amazing
Yet another kick ass tune you boys turned me onto. You two are putting out great content and your subscriber base growth shows it.
Tyler Childers - Coal
Colter Wall - Sleeping on the blacktop
Arlo Mckinley - Wild Horses!!!!!
Hadlee coal is a beyond amazing song.
Someone that listens Arlo!
Word!
"Been in about 20 bar fights." haha I lost it...
Whiskey Myers is a great outlaw tune, in my opinion. Can recommend "Broken window serenade" and "stone", or "Dogwood"
ExElysium yes that’s some real cowboy shit right there
Dogwood man, fuckin great
@@reecemangrum9133 its less cowboy and more tearing up red dirt roads on a 4 wheeler in east texas
I would love to see y’all‘s reaction to “broken window serenade”!!!
Whiskey myers is amazing. I been a fan of them for 7 years. They are my number 1 band to see.
I love seeing people experiencing my favorite songs for their first time and validating my initial reaction to it, nearly identically.
As someone who listens to everything from ATCQ, to Zeppelin, to Migos, to Srillex, to Chopin, to this, and everything in between, this channel is awesome!
Also i think you would really enjoy MATT MASON- E
I love that song
steven hunter Matt Mason doesn’t get NEAR the recognition he deserves. I’ve talked to a lot of people and no one knows who he is. He’s my favorite artist right now.
Oh yeah I think they would
I’m so happy to see you guys discover Cody Jinks. If you try him again, Somewhere in the middle, Last call for the blues and his original version of Fast Hand are all outstanding.
People that try to claim he’s Red Dirt, I love Red Dirt music but that scene ignored Cody for more than ten years. Now that he’s blowing up”who needs your labels anyway “
Whitey Morgan
Ward Davis
Jamey Johnson
Guys. My heart is full now. Thank you so much to do this review. Woke up and saw the notification and was so excited. So happy you enjoyed. You will like most everything he does I suspect. Modern outlaw is a great description. The people I listed above are all similar and often tour together. Check them out.
Thanks again.
I've listened to many of your reaction videos, but, for the internet "traffic" (updates), haven't subscribed to ANY reaction pages...until this one. Thanks guys!
Real, raw and not commercial. You nailed his style. Mans man but interacts with fans at every show, super nice and humble
Whiskey Myers- Stone. They’ve got a lot of good stuff but this is by far my favorite
Early Mornin' Shakes.
Cody Jinks "I'm Not the Devil." Do it, you wont regret it 🙂
Damn right
Amazing song this would be amazing for a reaction
I've seen him with my daughter a couple times now, since this new, cookie-cutter "pop country" stuff has flooded the air. Whiskey Myers, Jamie Johnson, Ward Davis as well.
That or David by Cody.
That's a really good song. That one and cast no stones are my 2 favorite cody songs so far.
The day after the "president" says, "I'm an Nationalist" I think it is awesome all the "country" songs that y'all listen to. You guys step out of all your music comfort zone to listen to things that you may not have listened to otherwise and I can tell from all of your videos that you have an appreciation for the music. If we all stepped out of our comfort zone and tried to see the world from a different perspective the world would be a better place. Thank you guys!
Great song! Thank you guys for getting Cody Jinks name out there! Great artist and can’t wait to see what his future holds. Also another great song of his is “Cast No Stones” great meaning behind all of the lyrics in it!
Broken window serenade - Whiskey Myers
Ieatass69 one of WM best. And there are plenty of them!
Ieatass69 great song
If y'all liked this one y'all should check out his song I'm not the devil.
Ronald Malone that and must be the whiskey. Both great songs from him
Yes and No Words
No one ever recommends Rock & Roll
I heard an interview on W.B.Walkers Old Show Radio with him, and when Cody wore this song he was sitting on the side of the highway and his kid was in back saying Loud Thunder Heavy Rain and he wrote this song on the rest of the way home. He is one of my favorite artists respectfully
Thanks for introducing me to cody jinks I never heard of him until I saw this so he was in my hometown last month so I had to go it was a great concert
Cody Jinks is the truth!! Hes huge in Texas and hands down my favorite country singer. If yall liked this song check out some more stuff because he gets deep. This song is shallow lyrically compared to the rest of his stuff. Great review!!
Jordan Ryan I'm with you man. David is so good. I've never met anyone who can't somewhat relate.
Check out Cody jinks hippie's and cowboys
Marc Broussard -- Home (Soul, R & B, swamp rock)
The Band of Heathens -- Hurricane (Americana, folk rock)
Uncle Lucius -- Keep the Wolves Away (Rootsy classic rock, country, blues)
Chris Knight -- Down the River (Country rock, Americana)
Brett Vannatta yes Marc Broussard Home!!!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
That's a solid ass playlist there. Props.
Yes, Marc Broussard - Home, to introduce to them to his music, then the S.O.S (Save our Soul) CD to get them hooked.
Woooooo! Thanks for reacting to Cody. Love the channel 👏👊🙌
Thanks LostinVegas for introducing me to Cody Jinks! I will definitely check out more of his songs. Love your channel...I'm hooked. I love all genres of music so you keep me watching. Thanks for the truth. Peace!
Thank you for doing Cody Jinks! Modern Outlaw is a perfect description. His rawness is what draws all his fans. He's just real.
Now PLEASE react to Down the River by Chris Knight.
And while I'm at it...Jesus, Jesus or Family by Noah Gunderson would be good ones. Stop this Train by Joshua James is interesting too. Very poignant
Cody Jinks is great, another of those underappreciated names in country that the mainstream mostly ignores. His new album, Lifers, is excellent. And he used to be in a thrash metal band.
Now you guys need to check out Colter Wall, because he's also great.
I'm a big fan of you guys, yall get down on all kinds of music just like me. Thanks for keeping this channel 100%
This song really hits home for me im a army vet and this song describes ptsd so good it really hits home
If you plan on doing more Cody Jinks please react to "hippies and cowboys" ...in my opinion it gives the best representation of him as an artist. This is real country. Not commercial.
I might have to say that Hippies and Cowboys is good, but Grey gives it a run for its money in my opinion.
Cody Jinks- Hippies and Cowboys!!!!
Guaranteed Play-List Fellas !!!
If it aint a song about Cowboys kicking dirty Hippies asses, I don't wanna hear it. XD
Cody Jinks- “David”, “Somewhere in the middle”, and “Strifers” all great to have a listen to for more Cody
Cody Jinks wrote this song while driving in a thunderstorm with his son. They, spur of the moment, wrote the lyrics just for the heck of it and put it to music. Ironically this song became his best selling and most well known single. Like so people can see this.
Checkout hippies and cowboys from Cody jinks
JayJay01 Cody Jinks and whitey Morgan wrote ‘somewhere between I love you and I’m leaving” best song in the world lately... they should jam that one and lifers
The Full Effects hell yeah anything Cody Jinks writes is bad ass
JayJay01 they have done a reaction on it
On the white album !
Great song!
Cowboys and Hippies by Cody Jinks!!
"Hippies and cowboys" will help the search lol. Great song though. Love it.
Robert Schneider lol you’re right that’s all on me. I always get mixed up 😅
@@meganmccormick298 😂😁
my favorite cody jinks song
Great tune.
So glad you all did Cody Jinks. He is really old school style and the real deal.
Finally!!! So glad y'all did him!! We were at his birthday party a few weeks ago at Panther Island, FTWTX, and, he looked out at the crowd, and said, " There sure are a lot of you mother fuckers out there."
Cast no stones is a great one for y'all to do it's by Cody jinks
Great song! One you guys should give a listen
You guys get it... much respect.
Whiskey Meyers - Broken Window Serenade
PLEASE lol
please!!!
Yes, yes, yes ...
Thanks, gentlemen. Great review. Here in Texas we have radio stations dedicated to only Red Dirt Country. Cody Jinks is a great representative of that sound that we all love here in the greatest state in the nation. Out of all the great Red Dirt songs, Y'all picked a good one. One of my favorite artists, Charlie Robison, recently announced he has to medically retire from singing. It would be really cool if y'all could take a listen to one of his greats, and one I'm especially nostalgic about, "My Hometown".
Cody Jinks was in his truck with his son and there was a storm. His son made the comment about loud thunder and heavy rain. He liked the way it sounded and started writing this song while still in that moment.
Ain't much left of me - Blackberry Smoke
Well, my fall from grace was a sight to see
Cody jinks-no words
Whiskey meyers-broke window serenade
Turnpike troubadours 7&7
This is one of your best reaction videos, hardly any pauses just two bobbin heads and the occasional “mmmhm”.
Oh, and if You do Cody Jinks again try listening to the song David without getting a tear in the eye.
Could you listen to Chris Knight ‘Down the River’?
Chris Knight is so underrated I think. He should have had a much larger career.
That song is real deep
I don't think he cares about having a larger career and that what makes him awesome.
www.carbontv.com/shows/american-elements/episodes/2/
Brett Moore yes please
@@danieltuttle2361 hes had stuff in movies.. that's kinda big
Cody Jinks is one of my favorite artists! Thanks for the reaction, would love to see more!
Cody Jinks is amazing. 💕 My husband got into him right after his father died last year, and my husband listened to this song every single night for a whole year whenever he lost his daddy. Sometimes still does. We are both very much into Cody Jinks because he sings REAL SHIT.
Hufflepuff 1992 Cody jinks is a great guy, I’ve met him and he’s the most down to earth humble man you’ll meet
I have similar feelings when i hear Cody Jinks, my stepdad loved him and he passed away earlier this year and everytime i hear I Cast No Stones i think of him and i cry.
If you’re a Cody Jinks fan...you know this song was written and inspired by his young son who was just singing the versus “loud thunder heavy rain” during a car ride in a storm. Cody just elaborated and finished the rest. Texas Country at its best. Very organic
The first time I heard Cody was after I left the hospital the day my dad passed driving back to pops house I heard Birds I can't listen to that song today without getting a little emotional this song I heard a few day's later and also his song Lost Highway since I was a tow truck operator 21 years that song hit home too
Thank you so much for listening to Cody Jinks, one of the best modern country artist around you guys rock
Whiskey Myers broken window serenade pleeeasssseeeee

Really good song
Love that song!

Started seeing Cody back in 2010 when he was playing acoustic duo gigs at Adair's Saloon in Dallas. Knew he would blow up. Raw talent, and great guy!
This is how you know Cody made it.. he is from eight up the road from where I am from... in Texas that can be quite a few miles.. lmao.. but that’s crazy. So awesome!!

High cost of living by jamey Johnson. Great lyrics and aong
Love some Cody Jinks! Mama Song and David are my favs, but No Words, I'm not the Devil, and Hippies and Cowboys would be fun reviews.
Hippies and Cowboys would be an extremely fun review. That would definitely catch off guard reactions from these fellas.
ALMOST HOME- Craig Morgan. Great country song!
I love the way that you guys dive in to the lyrics with your unabashed true feelings! What ever you cat’s are doing, you’re doing it right! George, Ryan Love your stuff!
Cody Jinks made me like country music; outlaw style, and I'm an old rock guitar player.
I can and have listened to his music for hours and days on end.
He has some of the best lyrucs that aren't played on the radio.
It's an outright shame.
I enjoy your review, guys !
Cody Jinks. Man. One of my favorite Artists! Period! I got to meet him a month ago after a concert. If you like this check out somewhere in the Middle or Must be the Whiskey.
Somewhere In The Middle - Cody Jinks
Love that song. So real!!
Dudes, I'm late to the party but you earned a fan simply by the acknowledgement that Cody Jinks is most certainly Outlaw Country. Nice Job!
Cody has a great voice. Wish there were more baritone voices in music.
Cody Jinks- Somewhere in the Middle
My favorite Cody Jinks song is hippies and cowboys. real country music. love your guys channel and all the country reactions yall do

Great stuff. Keep up the great job raising the profile of the GOOD country songs.
I love finding new artists on this channel! Thank you guys so much as always
Whiskey Myers - check'em out. If you like country go with 'Stone' 'Reckoning' or 'Virginia" You more into rock go with 'Frogman' 'Mud' or 'Home'
I like what y'all are doing man !! Cody is very real ! And you hit the nail on the head ..modern outlaw country !
Picture what I see and feel when listening to this epic song. Big black and chrome peterbilt 379 with all the lights on rolling through north Texas and just feeling free. There's no way to describe what im talking about unless you are a trucker and have experienced this. Freedom of the open road. There's no better feeling
Not even on a video but y’all should listen to more of his music. My dad is extremely stressed cuz of his job but listening to Cody calms him down so much
