Southern culture is a melting pot when it comes to music. Chris is as influenced by BB King and Wilson Pickett as he is George Jones and Hank Williams.
Just saw him again here in San Diego for the 2nd time last night (yes I was like the only Black Female in the crowd), and I would see him EVERY SINGLE TIME!
We always called it a "hammer on" and an abrupt change from a higher chord to a lower chord we call a "pull off", but we are just hillbilly guitarists around here, and hillbillies always have their own verbiage.
Chris is one of those guys you can't pin down.. He's not just country, he's not just blues, he's not just rock, he's not just bluegrass, he's not just rnb.. He's one of those few special guys who totally blurs genres. Like y'all said a totally once in a generation talent
This is an example of the greatness of America as a melting pot. Different cultures borrowing from each other to create something unique and wholly American.
He's been a HUGE song writer in the country music scene for over a decade. SO GLAD he finally got the recognition he DESERVES! Also, his wife is the one that harmonizes with him on his songs. She deserves her own record contract as well! They have 4 kids I do believe, I hope they get their parent's voices!
Watching you two guys react to this has absolutely made my day! Chris Stapleton came out of nowhere, having been a song writer in Nashville for years for multiple platinum artists, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, and others. I'm glad he decided to become a vocalist. I was a rock and roll only guy in my 30's and 40's, but guys like this have brought me to truly enjoy country in my 60's.
I listen to 98% metal music and 0% country but shit did I get excited for this notification!! Thanks for the turn on! Figuratively, Mentally, Emotionally \m/
you might enjoy Sturgill Simpsons latest album "A Sailors Guide to Earth" He went waaaay less twangy and took a lot of inspirations from rock, blues, and jazz similar to Stapleton.
Wow. His voice is so strong and raw it almost stripped away the instruments for me. Just found myself drifting back into feeling the emotion is his voice. Amazing! Definitely on my playlist! 🔥
Dude this is the first I heard this song I agree fully with you guy that man can sing Happy Birthday and make you feel it down deep in your soul keep being free thinkers
He is only 21st century Country singer i have heard that i love. I haven't been introduced to much else. I need to hear blues and country, and he does it! Damn he's got soul!
Back to good ol’ Chris Stapleton. This man SANGIN and i love it. He projects his voice so well with emotion and soul that I sometimes wish he did some R&B lmfao. I don’t think I have much things to say other than let his voice speak for itself. Hats off to Chris Stapleton and Lost In Vegas for the upload.
We Trust trust your opinion this man moves people he stirs every dark corner of your heart and soul. I come from the old school the look of house music so that's where I come from but this man puts it on their soul and go straight into the blues with it no matter white or black he's got it going on so keep bringing it to us. Like I said you can't run from Good Music it will stop you in your tracks y'all keep holding it down good call Chris Stapleton.. I would love for y'all to do a review of Rebecca Ferguson that's another one that will stop you in your tracks.
I hope that Chris Stapleton sees this video! I love your reaction, so REAL! I hope that he knows how much his music is affecting all types of people from all different walks of life. Great video and AMAZING SONG! I suggest you listen to "Either way" by Chris Stapleton as well, such an emotional song with a lot of feeling.
The name for the technique to play a note "abruptly" on any instrument is called Staccato. An Italian name, as almost all of those musical terms. It works so well in this song because it has a low tempo with nice long drawn out notes, especially in the vocal department, so the staccato chords on the guitar really kick!
When I first heard the song, one part hit me the hardest: "..... when I can do nothing else". It's almost a whisper, but this really brings back some hurtful memories…. so powerful
your right brothers I agree 100% I never once thought of him as country .. I love country and pretty much everything else but Chris plays the Blues ,,, he is a special artist keeping this soulful blues alive .. great reaction he is a baddass
If you think Chris is good, his wife Morgane Stapleton is amazing too! She sings backup for his on all his shows. They did a super haunting live rendition of “You are My Sunshine” y’all should check it out!
Fayerene Washington U are absolutely right, about his Austin City Limits concert(and that song). That guitar solo ALONE is fire🔥 Like they say, Stapleton is a “generational” talent. We are so lucky!!
Yea, I don't even prefer country music much, but I'm damn sure a Chris Stapleton fan. He's amazing. He does a lot more than just country/ mixes in blues, southern rock... With the amazing voice and well of emotion he draws from in his singing, yea...its astonishing. Great, talented, musician and singer. Everyone should be a fan!
Chris Stapleton does This is a Man's world live. It's on youtube. Not only should you watch it but keep a close eye on the band's reaction around him. Nothing short of spectacular
This really was a hell of a performance. Makes me think he's singing to veterans who lost a buddy in combat. I went and saw that Josh Ledet video and it gave me goosebumps. Totally off the charts good...
Please react to Stevie Ray Vaughn "Texas Flood" Live Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King Freddie King- Live- Have you ever loved a woman NAO- Live at KEXP singing Bad Blood
Great reaction as usual guys. I couldn't click fast enough. I think I need you guys to react to a Chris Stapleton song at least once a week. LOL! Trust me has no bad songs so you can just go down the list. Thanks for keeping it real and shout out to all the #freethinkers!
Thanks guys, you are pumping them out like crazy. Glad to see Chris Stapleton on here again. He just won a Grammy for an obvious reason. Sleep - Dragonaut, please!!
Hey, I've watched your reactions to Chris Stapleton songs so many times. I've never commented before, but.. when I watch you guys react to his music, it gives me genuine joy in my soul. Because y'all reacted to him exactly like I did. The things you point out about his voice, his soulfulness, his runs, his tone, all of it. The emotive way he expresses himself with music. This country is sadly so divided right now.. But, THIS, music is common ground for everyone. I love that. Thank you both for making me smile, laugh, and sometimes tear up a little with joy. Keep up the good work. Signed, a free thinker ❤💙💚💛🧡💜🖤
Steven Wilson- The Raven that Refused to Sing, Drive Home, and/or Routine (all with film clips) Porcupine Tree- Anesthetize (it's a long one but so worth it)
He actually recorded this live at his listening party for this record. I already have my tickets to see him at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in March. Can't wait!! I have all 3 albums on repeat. His music pierces my soul. 🙌🙌 Great reaction!! He also has a song out right now with Justin Timberlake y'all might want to take a listen to.
I really love this guy...I haven't had a male singer make me really feel it like this since Luther Vandross. I never listen to country so I would have never discovered him without you guys. Thank you!!!!
Got home at 3:30 in the morning, ready to go to bed, only to see a new post by Lost in Vegas, and a Chris Stapleton song to boot. Needless to say, I went to bed at 3:45. His voice is, as you say, amazing. Lost in Vegas - opening eyes and freeing minds! I'd like to request a reaction to Lingus by Snarky Puppy. Slow build but the payoff's worth it.
Doesn't matter find the song “Amanda” on TH-cam with her and him singing..... powerful. It’s the one with their bass player standing right behind them.
Lori McKinney What sucks is that my favorite video of them singing that is nowhere to be found now. I liked it because he played on an acoustic.. There was also a moment where they made some kind of joke about her looking hot in a truck before they started.
daniel holden they aren’t ready! That song was my intro to Chris and it was his ACL performance. Heard it while at work and I had to leave and go for a walk and think about it.
Watched both of yalls reactions to Chris Stapletons songs, man yall picked great. This whole album of his is amazing. Can be played from start to finish without skipping any tracks. - somethang thats hard to do wit music nowadays... Chris Stapleton - Country, Souther Rock, Twang Blues, Steel Soul - hes multi-talent Best of Country today, he brings the country back to the genre of music.
This man hit the music world, and he has been around a long time, and like a tidal wave against all the BS corporate music that was out there. Dude has an unbelievable level of talent and ability.
Wow man.... Chris Stapleton has got those B.B. King pipes. Also this is just straight up Blues right here, and done really really well. and Blues is one of my absolute favorite genres. Even though Country has Blues influences, there's nothing Country about this song, IMO.
He does so many songs that are amazing, hard to choose just one. Either way, whiskey and you, them stems, death row. Any suggestions are good. He also did a cover of Nothing compares to you when Prince passed. Just an amazing talent
I have to credit you guys with introducing me to Chris Stapleton. WOW!, from Tennessee Whiskey to this one, I LOVE this guys voice and his soul................. The Truth!
Man!! I love me some Chris Stapleton. Loved him for more than 5 years now. I can Remember the first time I heard him. Have you guys heard his version of “ what are you listening too”? I honestly can’t get enough of his voice. Much love to you guys. Just a fan from the Amsterdam-Netherlands
True, but Chris S? Chris just takes it and runs with it (no pun intended). I could imagine Prince siting around watching him and saying "DAMNNN!" and making the stink face. :)
Ziva Daverro Prince is ... without doubt ... legendary in his talent and abilities. I liked CC, but he isn't even close to the echelon Prince was/is in. I write this respectfully, but truthfully. ✌Peace and Love 💗 Namaste
What you’re hearing with the guitar is called reverb. He is muting the guitar and what you’re hearing is the notes emulating an echo in a room or off a wall. Amplifiers are made to give that effect but he recorded this in a studio with natural reverb, it’s the acoustics of the studio. The sound is bouncing off and hitting you in the face
I said this before, but I'm becoming an expert on Chris Stapleton, after never having heard of him a month ago, but you can't put him in a box. He's Soul, Jazz, Country, R and B, and Blues, a beautiful mix, like America itself.
Love your reactions! If this boy's voice doesn't move your soul you're probably dead and don't know it. I put Chris on to work around the house and before I know it, it's an all out Chris Stapleton concert and my house is spotless. Love love him!
From his time with The SteelDrivers through The Jompson Brothers until today, Chris Stapleton’s voice & musical style has just been a steady evolution of excellence.
Great review! Chris Stapleton’s “Millionaire” is beautiful too. For another country song, I second “Whiskey Lullaby” or suggest something by Garth Brooks such as “The Dance” or live versions of “The Thunder Rolls” or “Friend’s in Low Places” (both lives versions include additional verses that aren’t on the studio versions).
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!! People who GET IT!!! I’ve been converting people left and right who never liked country music before but listened to Chris Stapleton and fell in love. His music and sound is very bluesy. And his voice makes you feel what he is singing about. End of the song you feel like you missing somebody you don’t even know yet 😂😂😂 His Music “hits different” as the kids say lmao. Great reaction video
You guys said Chris could sing anything, check out the rock band that he was the front man for called The Jompson Brothers. You can also check out The Steeldrivers. This is a bluegrass band that he also fronted. I'd love to see your reactions to Tyler Childers doing either Whitehouse Road or Universal Sound. I think y'all would really like him too.
I listened to both of Chris' albums and thought "There has to be more!!!!"... Then I discovered him in Steeldrivers (Adele does a killer cover of If It Hadn't Been for Love)... I've just discovered Tyler Childers and am blown away...
I've been requesting Jimi here and there for awhile now as well. One of my top, top favorite artists, and my absolute favorite guitarist of all time. Would love to see them do Machine Gun.
Charles Lizana that would be awesome Machine Gun is so bad ass the only problem you have to listen to to so many times to catch everything going on in that song I listen to it for years before I could even catch on to what the bass is doing than there still drums song is off the wall crazy good
That's my song! I think of those who have gone on and some from their own choices in a sense and their broken haloes are still missed yet there's a peace that they are no longer wrestling with their demons. I've seen my share..
Listen to Chris Stapleton sing this is a man’s world. I watched Joshua sing that live on American Idol and it was amazing, but Mr Stapleton is a National treasure
I haven't liked country my entire life. You just introduced me to the first country artist that I immediately went to itunes and bought their album.
Check out Sturgil Simpson too
Same here, never liked much Country until I heard Chris Stapleton
Same with me, until Stapleton!
Same here, never listened to not one country song, but I stumbled upon his cover of Tennessee whiskey, then THIS song and I'm in love!!!!
Whiskey Myers
Southern culture is a melting pot when it comes to music. Chris is as influenced by BB King and Wilson Pickett as he is George Jones and Hank Williams.
Your right. Straight blues with a hillbilly/country twist. From Kentucky to near you.
Yes you can hear the different influences.
Amen
Blues was a direct influence on country and also rock and roll. Country developed in the same states a lot of blues came from too, same with rock.
Damn good artists to love!
All the vocal lessons in the world can't teach this, his voice comes from his soul.
Chris Stapleton sings like Stevie Ray Vaughn played the guitar, straight from the heart and puts it all into every song. This guy is the real deal!!
💙💙💙💙💙
I was thinking about this yesterday. 🤣 If he could play guitar like SRV, he'd probably be the greatest singer/songwriter/musician ever.
Just saw him again here in San Diego for the 2nd time last night (yes I was like the only Black Female in the crowd), and I would see him EVERY SINGLE TIME!
PeteMacDetroit should’ve taken a friend lol...once anyone hears them, they can’t stay away haha :)
second this. just bought the album
Lol
What's amazing to me is that he sounds as good live as he does on his albums. No auto-tune needed there, the man can sing.
I'll go with you. Hispanic girl here... love love soul hate the genre game.
That guitar sound you're asking about is called a palm stop. You hit the chord and immediately use your pick hand palm to stop the strings.
and Chris does it as an up stroke in this song
@@dr.pendyke4887 yeah not only can this man sing and write songs he can play the hell out the blues!
palm mute
True that!
We always called it a "hammer on" and an abrupt change from a higher chord to a lower chord we call a "pull off", but we are just hillbilly guitarists around here, and hillbillies always have their own verbiage.
Chris Stapleton has soul when he sings. This song is fire!
th-cam.com/video/nF6Bx_Ez8Iw/w-d-xo.html
Riding with private Malone
He doesn't sing, he SANGS!
Hes that white boy who shows up to too all black club, straps on guitar and shows that he got soul.
@@tanguman2 Chris Stapleton and Robin Thicke are the "blackest" singing white boys I've ever heard of.
Chris is not an artist you can put in a box. This man is a gift from God. He’s in his own category
Well said
If that's the way he cries, then I can listen all day.
Dani L. He does have an awesome voice!
Chris Stapleton does a cover of "It's a man's world" and it is amazing!!
Chris Stapleton wrote that song!!
Oops... was thinking of the song "your man!" My mistake!
Yep
The expressing on the guys face in the band while he was singing is so telling.
Chris Stapleton's cover of "It's a man's world" it's fire

Steven Cryar i catch shit for it but i say he is the modern era version of Hank Sr and Ray Charles
Southern.
His ability to go soooooooo deep inside and project it in such a honest, soulful, and real way......
This is an example of the greatness of America as a melting pot. Different cultures borrowing from each other to create something unique and wholly American.

It’s like listening to a live band at the Bar!
I dont listen to country neither. But, my friends showed me Chris Stapleton and I actually really dig it. To me, sounds more blues than country.

Yesss that should definitely be the next one they do
You want a powerful male country song, check out Jamey Johnson's "In Color".
Aaron Clapper love this suggestion
Wish I could like this unlimited amount of times. This was the best song to hit main stream country radio in a long long time.
I have to agree. Let's see it
Definitely good choice...
Hell yes to Jamey's In Color

BillnYou1 you almost can’t stick him in One Genre.... definitely a fusion! Very much blues but with a country twang
Chris isn’t strictly the blues by any means, but he definitely has a lot of soul.
He's not strictly blues or strictly country..... he's a bluegrass country singer. Which is a fusion
Chris Stapleton - Fire Away (live)
Nick B haven’t seen the live version you are talking about. But the produced video for “Fire Away” will bring a tear to your eye.
oh God, yes. So sad
This man's voice is the salve for all my wounds.
You got that right!
A mix of Country, Blues, and Rock N Roll are one of "THE BEST" music combinations in my opinion!
React to Chris Stapleton's cover of _"Amanda"_ or _"You are my Sunshine"._
He sings both with his wife, whom will also blow you away.
His wife has an equally soulful voice! Amanda is ridiculous!
Chris Stapleton is the reason I’ve started to delve into the worlds of country and blues. Beautiful stuff. Good reaction guys
If you think Chris is good, his wife Morgane Stapleton is amazing too! She sings backup for his on all his shows. They did a super haunting live rendition of “You are My Sunshine” y’all should check it out!
Eli Nolasco She really is amazing..she doesn't get the credit she deserves
She is AMAZING
💯
She. Is. Everything. 😍
Eli Nolasco I was just coming to the comments to say the same thing lol!!! She really needs an album of her own!
If you want to hear a Mans World then listen to Chris’s version James would be proud.
Jim Duff
Yes that was beyond a great version and James would be proud of it.
My God I think James would jump up on stage with him. It's damn ridiculous
He was born to sing it
That was a great rendition. 👍
Chris Stapleton's I Was Wrong at Austin's City Limits and also Live version Of Man's World

The word you’re looking for to describe the short/abrupt guitar strum is staccato.

Yes!!!!! Love Zac Brown
mike Haupt that's a Jason Isbell and the 400 unit song, they covered it-- the original is way better.
You just got a metal guy's attention....
Stapleton has a video on TH-cam of him preforming "Man's World". check it out guys.
Omg yessss!!! 👏🏾👏🏾 love that you guys did this song! He’s got an amazing voice! He’s great live as well.
Best reaction channel on the tube... keep up the good work fellas
Agree 100%
Agreed I like wat your doin here
Fantastic reaction!
Wow man.... Chris Stapleton has got those B.B. King pipes. Also this is just straight up Blues right here, and done really really well. and Blues is one of my absolute favorite genres. Even though Country has Blues influences, there's nothing Country about this song, IMO.
Next Chris Stapleton song - either way
Buttlet IV I second that!
Whiskey and you
Chris’s Live cover of JB’s “Man’s World”... wow
He does so many songs that are amazing, hard to choose just one. Either way, whiskey and you, them stems, death row. Any suggestions are good. He also did a cover of Nothing compares to you when Prince passed. Just an amazing talent
Either Way & Death Row!!!
You can't listen to Chris without mentioning his wife Morgane. She is the perfect match to his voice
Lost In Vegas does THE BEST Chris Stapleton reaction videos BY FAR!
Jenny Misidjan yes! What are you listening to is my all time favorite.
Yes!!! I hit replay for that one so much. Maybe because I don't wanna blubber like can happen when listening to this kind of Chris Stapleton song.
Chris Stapleton. Whiskey and you. you will not be disappointed
Blues
Blues is everything. Blues is cousin of folk, jazz, rock, soul, gospel, EVERYTHING
Bruhs,
Chris Stapleton's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"
by Prince is undoubtedly the best version EVER.
Yankee the prince cover was awesome...the only one even close was Chris Cornell
True, but Chris S? Chris just takes it and runs with it (no pun intended). I could imagine Prince siting around watching him and saying "DAMNNN!" and making the stink face. :)
Ziva Daverro Prince is ... without doubt ... legendary in his talent and abilities. I liked CC, but he isn't even close to the echelon Prince was/is in. I write this respectfully, but truthfully. ✌Peace and Love 💗 Namaste
cynthia trenidad You know Prince wrote "Nothing compares to you" right?
@@cynthiatrenidad5587 lol. You know Prince wrote it?
What you’re hearing with the guitar is called reverb. He is muting the guitar and what you’re hearing is the notes emulating an echo in a room or off a wall. Amplifiers are made to give that effect but he recorded this in a studio with natural reverb, it’s the acoustics of the studio. The sound is bouncing off and hitting you in the face
You gotta do Death Row by Chris Stapleton
Sherry Reynolds yesss I would love to see this
I third that it is a great song
Fourth
I want parachute, second one to know or them stems
I said this before, but I'm becoming an expert on Chris Stapleton, after never having heard of him a month ago, but you can't put him in a box. He's Soul, Jazz, Country, R and B, and Blues, a beautiful mix, like America itself.
Only Time, whiskey and smoke can get you a voice like that.
Love your reactions! If this boy's voice doesn't move your soul you're probably dead and don't know it. I put Chris on to work around the house and before I know it, it's an all out Chris Stapleton concert and my house is spotless. Love love him!
Did y’all see his tribute to Aretha? Mercy is all I can say!
I'll have to check that out I love me some Aretha Franklin
Some people may not realize what a great song writer he is. He's wrote songs for alot of well known singers.
You should listen to Chris Stapleton's tribute to Prince.
Theresa Colton c’mon now... you can’t just throw it out there and not tell us where we can listen/see it.
From his time with The SteelDrivers through The Jompson Brothers until today, Chris Stapleton’s voice & musical style has just been a steady evolution of excellence.
Well you'll sure as hell like Stevie Ray Vaughan then.
Dan H I'll take a change if it's not Chris S. good ...I'll be back
SRV Oh yeah. Makes me cry for a completely different reason.
Dan H Stevie Ray is nice, but he don’t touch the heart strings like Chris. Stevie owns his lane, but he don’t own Chris’s.
SRV’s song Life Without You is one of my favorites.. sooooo good!
Great song and good review! 👍🏻
Do Uncle Lucius-Keeping the Wolves Away
Chuck Turner Hell yeah Anything by Tyler Childers or Sturgill Simpson you can not go wrong!
Barely Alive should be the one.
I listened to both of Chris' albums and thought "There has to be more!!!!"... Then I discovered him in Steeldrivers (Adele does a killer cover of If It Hadn't Been for Love)...
I've just discovered Tyler Childers and am blown away...
The steel drivers are amazing
Barely Alive!!!!
Thanks for getting me on to Chris.
Still waiting for some Jimi Hendrix. Literally any song by Jimi.
Good job, fellas.
I've been requesting Jimi here and there for awhile now as well. One of my top, top favorite artists, and my absolute favorite guitarist of all time. Would love to see them do Machine Gun.
Charles Lizana that would be awesome Machine Gun is so bad ass the only problem you have to listen to to so many times to catch everything going on in that song I listen to it for years before I could even catch on to what the bass is doing than there still drums song is off the wall crazy good
You should do broken halos by Chris Stapleton
That's my song! I think of those who have gone on and some from their own choices in a sense and their broken haloes are still missed yet there's a peace that they are no longer wrestling with their demons. I've seen my share..
Lol they could do a video on the whole album
Broken Halos by Chris Stapleton is beautiful as is Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore.
Listen to Chris Stapleton sing this is a man’s world. I watched Joshua sing that live on American Idol and it was amazing, but Mr Stapleton is a National treasure
