Kenny, I am actually surprised that a 2003 Hyundai used fuel injectors instead of the more traditional and maybe cheaper throttle body injection system. Brother Kenny I wish I were your neighbor in order to get you to work on and repair my vehicles. You really know your stuff. Thank you for making the video and Keep Wrenching. I am praying for your back and knee problems. Hang in there.
Cars with multipart fuel injector systems became popular in the 80s. I definitely want to get up to see you. Meg says hi & hopes you are doing well. Love you brother 🔧
I bought an oil cooler for my Ram 3.6L from Amazon (China part) for $107 and learned the hard way. Caused so many leaking issues and the sensors were no good… The Dorman $200 part was much better quality build and seals.
The primary reason those 3.6L oil cooler blocks leak ( particularly the plastic ones ) is because the " off the street " hires at your " Take 5 oil change " type places overtighten the filter housing causing it to crack internally. It's not the " tightness " of the filter housing that seals it, but rather the rubber O-ring. There is no range of tightness when it's tightened. They go from turning, to not turning INSTANTLY. The very instant it stops turning, you stop turning it. Instead, these airhead off the street hires crank on them to the point of them cracking internally.
@kyzercube yep. I usually turn them till it stops then just a squeek more. No real pressure on it doing that. Some people crank on them because they had an oring pop out before but it just causes more mess
@@kyzercube interesting. I always did my own oil changes however the previous owner did get oil changes by those lube places judging by the oil change sticker.
That is called waste spark, when the one plug fires on the exhaust stroke with another on the firing stroke. Saves needing 2 extra coils, and a transition between a distributor and a single coil per plug system. The canopy is great, just make sure to fold down every time, because they, despite the hold down pegs and ropes, do like to go off and fly away. Did stop one once, though it needed 4 of us and a screwdriver, the screwdriver to hold it sort of together, because the one middle arm snapped under the strain of the sudden wind and rain storm. It did not survive.
Well, having a busman's weekend there Kenny, but your neighbour definitely likes that you moved in. Now you might get some help with the garage soon, so you can both be comfortable.
Kenny please get your back checked out if you haven't already! Once you hurt your back it stays with you from that time on and will continue to get worse without proper care! Praying for you and your family! God bless y'all!!
Thank you for your concern. I'm working with my doctor & chiropractor. I'm finally getting some relief with acupuncture of all things. Thanks again! I appreciate you. Keep wrenching 🔧
There's always someone willing to make a cheaper, low-quality part. But the opposite is also true: Someone will raise the price and tell you it's a higher quality. You don't get what you pay for -- you get AT MOST what you pay for.
Funny how I just noticed this video and I had finished a 2015 Kia soul with same issue. Everyone else performed tune up and overlooked the injectors. Easy simple fix.
You're absolutely correct. BUT - we're dealing w old used cars. N if the problem presents itself again, it'll kinda be obvious what it is. That's my philosophy on why I don't mind buying the cheaper (probably way less quality) parts.
Good job once again. I understand how it all works, it's amazing if you think about it. It use to be all manual, carburetors and distributors, now a computer tells it when to fire, inject fuel and such and keeps doing it at whatever speed or RPMs. It obviously does it well, just fascinating, lack of a better word. Keep wrenching
Harley Davison used dual fire since 1927, it went away when they put fuel injection on their bikes. There is zero reason to use it anymore on any engine except cutting corners and cheaping out. Extra wear on spark plugs as well.
My dad learned the "don't buy the cheapest" theory with a set of tires for less then $150. Within 6 months 2 had tread separation which wrecked the tie rods!
Partially blocked fuel Injector....Caused by petrol contaminated / diluted with Ethanol....Here in the UK, theyve recently started diluting our Petrol with Ethanol too. Yes, were still paying the same price as we did before they diluted it...🤔🙄😳🇬🇧
It is awful stuff to deal with, but with proper defouling additives you can blow the rubbish out of the exhaust. Don’t be down wind of the pipe while you do this. The fumes are deeply noxious.
Thank you Kenny for sharing your knowledge on these TH-cam videos 👍 Especially with those counterfeit parts on eBay or Amazon that's "too good to be true"
I bought the Launch X-431 scanner last year and connected it to my 05 Dodge Neon and it wouldn't show the misfire count on each cylinder. I thought the scanner sucked even though it would do all kids of stuff. Connected it to my 96 F-150, the first year of OBD-II, and it had the misfire count per cylinder. You think it's the limitations of the scanner but its actually the scanner that shows all of the available information that the manufacturer wanted to be seen. Slightly disappointing that some of the newer vehicles don't allow you to see things that the older ones do.
Ive had quite a few hemis give me injector problems. But my current hemi misfire is a valve not opening fully. Have to pull head and remove lifters. Hopefully just a collapsed lifter but its a hemi so probably failed roller. No tap though.. 5.7 in a ram 3500 chassis cab none the less lol.
Amazon Injectors roulette 5/6 worked great 1 diffuser plate fell off after 1 month... so yea luckily 1 used old one left to replace faulty 1. Got new injectors after pennstar 3.6 oil cooler failure buggered a bunch of the injectors and orings
Most O rings and seals should get a light lube for assembly to prevent them from sticking, rolling or otherwise getting damaged when put in place, plus it usually makes things slide together more easily. Always use an appropriate or compatible lube.
Love your videos you forget the parts place buy thousands of them the dealer only buys 3 or 4 of them at a time and get it for good price and rebox them😂
Do you ever clean a "failed" injector and put it back in to see if that solved the problem? Or is the idea of cleaning them not realistic? I picked up a cheap device to use to really flush injectors with carb/injector cleaner, and it did seem to improve the spray pattern, but I wonder what I'll do when I get a vehicle that has very difficult injectors to remove/install. Is it worth going through all the work to install a "cleaned" injector if that only fixes the problem some small percentage of the time? ALSO, thanks for mentioning the part brand name, because I keep track of brands that real mechanics consider reliable, and now Beck Arnley is on the list!
I make sure the seller is an OEM supplier or legit parts. Some sellers are also on BOTH platforms. I got a 4 pack of Valvoline gear oil with limited slip additive in those nifty dispenser bags for way cheaper than local brick and mortar stores

I worked for Hyundai from 86 to late 90. Those injectors may be the same as Dodge colt injectors.
Kenny have you tried the chirp wheels for your back? I use them everyday to keep my back and neck exercised.
Should you just change all 4 injectors instead of just the 1.

I didn’t get the point of the assembly gel for this job. The retaining clips keep the injectors from falling out. Is it mainly to lube the o-rings?

An injector either is open or closed. If it opens and closes well, and has a clean screen, there is not much difference between new and used.
This is just perfect.
If q injecter is goosed, the others are not far behind.
Why not replace all 4 injectors while you have them out?
I don't mean to be a wise ass, but how about using a lab scope, such as a Uscope?
Whoa on the injector lube job, a little dab’ll do ya.

You get what you are willing to pay for it. Cheap parts are cheap for a reason. I would also pony up the cash to replace all 4, in this case.
