They try to make them look expensive in a certain way, but they're not for me. Less would be more.
I know what you mean. There's a lot of gratuitous polishing and busyness. I'll be talking about some of those elements further in the reviews. A lot of nice touches/elements but some I don't prefer either. Cheers
We try to be different and being different is offering more for the money. There are already a million simple / bauhaus style watches with single layer dials and familiar looks in the market and we wish not to compete with them. Our products are definitely more complicated in design and they appeal to a certain clientele. Cheers.

I own two pieces from this brand. The original Ultramatic (made in Germany but with very high quality Chinese Tourbillion) and also a model called the Mercury (which I believe was made in their Hong Kong factory). Both are super nice, especially given the very affordable prices. 👍

The dial on the new Ultramatic II Black Sand is actually blue mother of pearl, I personally own the original Ultramatic Carbon Bay Limited from 2019 which also has a blue mother of pearl dial, but with Calibre SL-5212 from Peacock, which is an automatic tourbillon movement.
I love my Ultramatic so much that I wear it literally every single day for almost 5 yrs now, it's still running gd, being a little fast, maybe ard +/- 8 secs per day, time for a service, lol.

I'm pretty sure I came across Waldhoff before in a Kichstarter campaign or similar. Just like then, I'm not sure what to think. Indeed, from the back these movemwnts look quite neat and the Chinese movements have been coming up in quality, but I feel I am unqualified to decide if it's really worth trusting them in the same way as various Swiss and Japanese off the shelf options. Time will tell. Meanwhile, I'm not at all sure I need this level of complications or a particularly affordable tourbillion. Reliable timekeeping genetally suffices. The trafitionalist design elements mashed together on the first two leave me with the impression that Waldhoff tries to create the illusion of the grandeir of haute horologie, bit it's unclear to me if they have any claim to that at all. Subtle it is not. The faceted case side of the first two is cool, but the tall vertical cylinder built is not. It looks clunky to me and far taller than the 11.5mm or 12mm auggests and not really in keeping with the traditional dressy style. The third has clearly more of an own character. The bracelet aids this as well. Indeed, I'm keen to see more of their damascus dial application. I think that promises to be more convincing than the different textured patterns on the others. The case is even more chunky, but arguabky a bit more sculpted. The whole thing remind me a little of the latest Desanders in creating a traditional impression with unconventional elements in a relatively busy deeply layered watch, but at first glance, I think the Desanders convinces a lote more on the bakance and identity of design. The complications don't match in the comparison of course. Other cheap Swiss tourbillions will be very different in price, but Horage, Frederique Constant, Ba111od, Code41 do offers much more coherent visions with more refined execution. The question arises if anyone really needs all these complications if balance and refinement aren't part of the parcel.
Well summarized and generally consistent with my overall thoughts. There are many elements I like, particularly in isolation, but it's generally a lot. I'll expound on each in the full review. Cheers

They were originally made in Germany, as I understand it, but you're right that they're now Chinese manufactured. There are pretty telling aspects of that, which I discuss in the full reviews. Cheers
