If the Workspace display it too big Edit -> Preferences -> User Interface -> click option "Scale to lower supported devices." Very useful video for beginners!

A few observations. Just upgraded to CC 2018 and Essentials is changed, but they have an "Essentials Classic". Also what happens if your panels don't fit vertically? (enthusiast with 1080 vertical)

How to unsnap two panels.. cause by accident,.. one panels snap to other , but not in the bottom, but in the left side.. How to unsnap.. ( they move together anywhere... ) thks.. btw: I use pc.
Is there a way to save that workspace as a setup template or something...because many times i open AI it's somehow reset to default and my saved Workspace is gone pfff😔😔😔

When I follow the directions and create a custom workspace and then try and select any of the other default workspaces it doesn't change back and remains as the custom workspace I just created. I'm using the latest version of Illustrator CC with Windows 7.

Hi again. The resolution of the screen is 1366x768px. Before you kindly replied, I had done already what you suggested, but it didn't work. The icons on the left side still disappear bellow the task bar, as if the screen was taller, to the point where I can't see the icons representing the fill and the stroke colors, among others. The same doesn't happen in Photoshop, where I use a similar layout.
Hi! I did the tests on HD screens and I found what you're going through. There are two forms of that panel, single column, and double column. Click on the nested greater-than symbol/button on the top left of the bounding box to expand the panel into double column form, after that you can have all tools in the sight. Similarly, you can change that into single column form by clicking double less-than button. Hope this helps. Additionally, you can drag and drop new window to make a new panel on either side of the workspace, but not recommended. Sorry for the late reply, I got little busy.
Hi GD, I'm trying to follow along on my laptop while watching on my tablet but when I try to open Section 1-Introduction Ep 2 - Panels & Workspaces in AI it tells me that it is 'read only'. I unzipped the files with WinZip and retried a number of times to reload the Project Folder to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The workspace that I created just like you did but mine doesn't fit on the screen :s I tried to make the panels smaller but it didn't help :s

Yeah you can save workspaces and then each time you load the program, it loads the previous.
Go to Window / Workspace, and hit / New Workspace...

What's your screen resolution? I recommend switching your workspace to default presets and customize again, from Essentials Classic.

I can't open the work folder, what do I do?
I dont have that tab artboards. I am using I think CS2
I created a custom workspace and saved it. But when I reopened AI, it was gone! :( Happened twice already. What can I do to fix this?
it's very detailed and I learn from it however, the pace is a bit fast so I had to pause and rewind it again.
