    Leveling health is actually extremely important, if you're wondering why he died in two hits, it's because the boss he was fighting isn't a real boss, and is basically just a hacked enemy crab with insane damage.

    What I love about Elden Ring is that it enables 'Modular Difficulty'. Essentially the game is only as difficult as you want it to be. if you want it easier - use a spirit, call a friend, or look up some of the broken builds that enable easy mode.
    As Asmongold said (and I'm paraphrasing) - This game has the most tools of any From game.
    My advice - use them.

    Elden Ring is successful because it refuses to hold your hand. It stops assuming the lowest common denominator is the default player, then build a game environment which assumes the player is intelligent while prompting them to explore and learn on there own.
    It takes an older style of RPG design and brings it into the 21st century, while significantly adding improvements to those old formats.

    Elden ring is my first souls game ever and with that lack of experience with souls games and lack of hand-holding i felt it made the overall experience frustratingly amazing. I haven't felt challenged or felt the need to learn how to play a game in a very long time because it's generally done for you.
    The raw emotion and exhilaration from finally beating Margit after dozens of attempts was something i haven't felt from gaming as a whole in a decade, and it honestly revitalized gaming for me. I was burnt out from buying games that ended up being a let down or broken. (Anthem for example)
    130 hours into Elden Ring and I've loved every second of it, and for the first time i bought a game and felt like i got my money's worth.

      Some people will criticize reused enemies as lacking creativity or something, and in a lot of other games that case is true, but come on. With how absurdly massive this game is, and the already mind-blowing variety or enemies and bosses there already are, you're just obviously bound to have a few repeats. That's pretty much unavoidable. And even the repeats appear to be tweaked in a very small way, whether cosmetic or moveset.

    When it comes to using the spirits in this game. You still need to do the work to find them and then upgrade them, because if you don't, the bosses will have them for lunch. It requires you to put in more work, because it is not cheap upgrading spirits, and many of the good ones are hard to get to. You have to make a strategy that revolves around them. They do make the game easier, but not THAT much eaiser. You can still get one tapped by a boss if you make a wrong move.

That’s why ranking Mohg’s difficulty is hard becuase he is fair and almost every player probably beat him differently. I was underleveled at my first playthrough with a melee build and it took me 28 tries. On ng+ I had a holy faith build and it took me 1 try. I never really noticed how much better the game is for the "average" gamer or whatever, because it doesn't affect me. I haven't used summons except once or twice just to see how they work, I don't summon other players but I summon the gold NPC signs to do their quests and stuff, and I've been having a great time. The part with the tutorial skip really stands out for me. Games these days are so cramped with mechanics and features that a lot of them require you to do a tutorial from everything between ten minutes to two hours. This gets tedious very fast, especially in an open world game where you want to explore the world and not get berated by an annoying npc about how to jump, climb and fight.

      What's well designed about it? I've played every From Software game since their debut on PS1 and think it is terribly designed just like the rest of the souls series that I've played through each one numerous times, except Sekiro, I hated the combat in that game. From Software has history and they've made the same game with slight differences for the last 12 years. That's why Elden Ring is doing well combined with George R. R. Martin fanbase. It isn't all From Software fanbase.

    Got the game a month ago, it’s my 2nd favorite game of all time (‘05 battlefront 2 takes the cake) . I understand that summons make the game infinitely easier but I really couldn’t care less bro. It’s my first souls-like experience and I want to enjoy it my way. I try every boss one on one the first few times, but after that man I’ll swallow my pride and summon that mimic in a heartbeat (or even a friend if I want to play with others). I don’t need to beat him head up to feel worthy, and I absolutely don’t need confirmation from souls vets that I’m a true Elden ring player. Keep your gold star man I’m still gonna buy the DLC and play it the same way and prolly have more fun doing so. I deeply enjoy the lore and the vague story and especially the atmosphere that the game provides in spades. I even watch lore videos on YT which is something I’ve never done for any other media. With that being said, the game is still hard for those of us that don’t spend every waking moment on a game. Sweating my butt off to be slightly better at mashing buttons is for the birds lol. It was difficult at the start with just sword and shield, but that's because I greatly underestimated the new mechanics. Combine heavy jump attacks, guard counters and parries you can break the posture of enemies very easily.

If I wasn't I would try buy limited items from the shops and such. Either way when I went to the boss I made sure I didn't really have anything to lose. For my memory might be fuzzy, but some reason I think the bed of chaos also had a shortcut you could unlock with a bonfire that is closer to the boss. Nearly every boss has a bonfire or shortcut you can unlock. When I play the maps I do a scouting run in which I make it a point to kill everything so that I am unimpeded to explore and find everything. I thought the Erdtree Avatars were brilliant. The fact that they appeared in the same types of locations, always had the same type of loot, always had the same basic attacks, all of it made them so sick. With regular enemies, it makes even more sense. It means that you can immediately look at a group of enemies and identify whether it'll be hard or easy to defeat based on the base type of each of the enemies.

    Areas in Elden Ring you can reach without fighting a single boss: Starting Area (that's what everyone calls it, don't get on my case about it or I SWEAR-), Weeping Peninsula, Caelid, Liurnia, Altus Plateau, Volcano Manor (granted, you have to run past a boss that DOES agro on you), Eternal City Nokram + Nokstella, and Both Underground River Basins (forgot their names). 10 total areas.
    Areas in Elden Ring you can reach by fighting the bosses that bar the way to get to them through various routes: Forbidden Lands (Flame Giant area), Haligtree, Blood Palace (I repeat my rant from Starting Area parenthesis), Deeproot Depths, Farum Azula, Capital/Lyndell and the confusing Sewer area under it (counting Ashen Capital as a part of the Capital). 7 additional areas you can get to by putting in the work to beat the gatekeeper bosses.
    So, all in all, if someone complains about Elden Ring being hard, and they can't beat the first boss, ask them if they've visited and grabbed stuff from all the areas on the first list, and if they haven't, tell them they're dumb because they obviously decided to fight Margit at level 1 without trying to explore anywhere else. Even if they avoid fighting bosses in these accessible-from-the-start areas, they can still get runes, materials, and equipment from all around them, they just have to look. It's on them if they decide not to.

I am saying it and I don’t give a f about what you think, Elden Ring is the best and most perfect game released in the last 20 years.

    6:20 IDK I found Dark Souls 1 really difficult, harder than Elden Ring for me for sure. But then again, perhaps my problem with Dark Souls 1 is the really low framerate and having to use a controller which I'm not used to, problems I don't experience in Elden Ring.

    • @Akira00920

      Id say ds1 is considered harder because of the less amount of bonfires to warp too

    • @zyloft2053
      @zyloft2053 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dark souls 1 is probably objectively harder, some people may beg to differ, but it’s because of dark souls linearity and how sometimes there really is no solution or fix to a difficult boss other than getting good and throwing yourself at it time and time again.

    • @btchiaintkidding7837
      @btchiaintkidding7837 ปีที่แล้ว

      ds1 is p^ss easy tho.
      it was my first experience with any souls game. and definitely the difficulty aspect was too much over exaggerated, and no i didnt follow guide or friend it was a blind playthrough.
      but every other from software soulsborne games post ds1 are pretty fking hard. i had a super confidence boost playing ds1 and blind and figuring out stuff by myself but damn ds3/BB kicked my sh^t in.

    • @levyayano4644
      @levyayano4644 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zyloft2053 But the thing about DS1 is that it's not linear, you can literally fight the bosses in any order, once the four lords are available, you can take them in any order as well, or I'd you really want to, haul ass to the DLC. It's one of the reasons why I keep coming back to DS1, instead of DS3. Elden Ring is just taking that concept to the extreme and doing it masterfully. Again, any boss, any order, hit Altus, same thing. The only one I have a gripe with CFA though, granted at that point it's pretty much a boss rush till the end

    All this "alienating new players" talk. I'm 41, I've NEVER played a souls game before ER, I spent a solid 2 hours getting absolutely wrecked my first day out...and now I'm 2 bosses from ending the game.
    I adjusted, and these people refuse to, and that's that. The game's not for you, go play Stardew Valley if you want to hold hands.

    Dunkey literally says make the game 30-60% easier and it would be more fun for the avg player and I completely agree

    For run back for bosses thing. Maybe one of worst can be FNAF - SB after 6AM mini boss. Basically you get last save when you end normal game and can chose to leave (bad ending) or continue inside exploring. Before patch you have to complete game in one sitting after 6 AM for certain end. there were 2-3 short endings that needed under 1h each and then there was few endings that needed "mini boss". It take over 2-3h etc and after that you need to think do you want to do. There are 2 endings that required that mini boss. One is to collect golden plushies and leave from certain exit and other is to go down. Luckily that boss had save because it's basically games end boss.
    Also if you wanted the lore then you had to complete whole complex after 6 AM and it took time.
    Seen lots of rage quits when they tried to do last endings after 6AM. Usually that stream ended there because that run was like 4-5h after last available save point. It hit hard when you died there.
    I used the glitch to get saves back and now they fixed it and added only one save location when you reach 6AM.

    I wanna say that I think this game is incredibly easy or hard depending how you play it, I’ve never played a souls game and this was my first and I had a blast exploring everything on my own and learning how to play the game. I think what makes this game easy though is the idea of not being required to do something over and over again until you beat it. If you get stuck on a boss, just take a break from it and level up some and come back to it, he’ll stormveil is an optional castle if you just go around it and only 7 bosses are required to beat the game normally lol. It took me 5 days to beat malenia and I didn’t have to but I did to prove I could, but it’s not something everyone should have to beat and that’s why it’s an optional boss, they knew not everyone could beat her and that’s why she’s optional. And summons are a whole other story, they can make this game super easy but you aren’t required to use them but it’s there. I think what makes Elden Ring so great/easy is that the player has the choice to make it hard on themself or easier on themself

      @@yig_501 I like the game a lot, but what's the point of having George RR Martin on the payroll, if it's to have 5 pages of dialogue total in the game, and having players search Google for lore ?
      Were they afraid their main audience is so allergic to reading they would hate the game if it had more npc dialogue ? Or a lore section in the character menu ? Or even a journal with who you beat and and what you did ?
