when dragon ball had a unique vibe to it, i can still feel it watching this after 15 years, i had long forgotten, good old days of dragon ball, i cant bring myself to enjoy super and heroes

+NWA362 Calling someone an idiot for having an opinion is an idiotic thing to do. My only point is, the older animation for Dragon Ball had real quality in it because hard work was put into it. Not just generated on a computer. Not to mention, I don't think they have as big of a budget with super, so the animation isn't as on point.

Fun fact: Final bout actually came out way before GT was released in America, In fact, at this point the Dragon Ball Z Series hadn't had Goku turn Super Saiyan yet, as the Ocean Dub from 1996-1998 stopped around Goku landing on Namek. So This was the first time many people saw Goku Transform and were probably super lost.
That would explain why the dubbing for this game was off

For me I had already seen DBZ up to the Cell Saga when it was running on Toonami I guess around 2000-2001. But I remember not knowing who the hell the pink guy was or the gigantic monkey that you fought at the end lol

It's not that he's crap, it's that it isn't his story anymore. Anime rules dictate that only the protagonist can have success and Goku stole the protagonist role out from under him. He still had a good run all things considered.

Yeah, I remember seeing ads in the back of Electronic Gaming Monthly for import Dragon Ball toys that went as far as showing Baby, and as I recall, broadcasts in the US hadn't even gotten to Goku fighting Captain Ginyu at that point.
As chinese I haven been exposed to the cantonese version of dbz so I was ahead of everyone in germany hahahaha When the game came out, dbz just started and I already knew gt :D

This game was literally the shit back then. Even if people call it bad, it was undoubtedly the most popular and one of the most rare DragonBall games back then, and the pinnacle of DragonBall fighting games before Budokai.

@Berserker In those times we had Tekken, Ehergeiz, Rivals School, Dead or Alive, Bloody Roar and some other 3D Fighting Games. So, there is no excuse to don't say that Dragon Ball Final Bout is a bad game. It's completely broken there are too many ways to do infinite combos, the game is very slow and Meteor Attacks are just flashy.

OMG What memories of this video.. i had this game on PS1 around 1997 and by that time my country's TV was airing for the first time, the Sayan Saga with Vegeta's fight. The funny thing was that by that time, i didn't knew that the anime had already ended years ago, i didnt even knew what was it's original airing date in Japan, so i kinda had the feeling that what i was watching in TV was fisrt time also for everyone... so i got this game and saw that opening intro with all these characters and i became very surprised and frustrated. I then realised that the series had been long ended way past the saga i was watching, but in a pre-fast & way easier internet-wifi era, it was very difficult geting any info past the point of the saga i was watching.
I had by then a 56K modem and i needed hours to download a 2 minute with shitty quality video of DBZ, anywhere past the Sayans Sagas in order to find any clue of who these characters was.... Also i happened to had this game original but in French language with no option to change it and also its manual was in french. So i had myself stuck with the pages that described the games characters in french trying to translate anything i could with a dictionary in hand.... ahhhh memories of my youth.....

At the time when were first able to get our hands on the game, I thought it was awesome and had a blast playing. All characters available, voices and sound effects the same, fireball fights! Of course looking back and comparing it to today's standards, I can understand what you're saying.

DB Final Bout get out on 1997, at this point we already had Tekken 3, Mortal Kombat 4, Street fighter 3, X-Men vs Street fighter and many games way better than Final bout.
Final Bout is still on my heart, I love that game, I still could play it today, but let’s admit it, it is a bad game.
No story, bad 3D, animation was fucking slow as fuck, combo were shit, no feeling of power, etc, it was a really bad game back then, and I still love it.
