    Fun point of trivia, young Qui-gon Jin is voiced by Michael Richardson, Liam Neesons son😊

    The scene where Obi-wan is captive and Dooku praised Qui-Gon Jinn and said he missed him (paraphrasing) was taken as him trying to "sweet talk" Obi-wan by a lot of people, but the events in Tales of the Jedi show he truly loved and cared about Qui-Gon Jinn, which makes his fall to the dark side that much more tragic. This was great for fleshing out his character, indeed.

      I mean, he had Sidious at the brink of death (Canon defeated Sidious, via George Lucas) and decided it was too dangerous. This is out of character for him for sure, but the only other person who could have stopped him at that point was Yoda, and unfortunately Sidious had an edge. He probably had that on his mind too; who else would have stopped him from taking control of the Senate and seizing complete power? Imagine if Sidious was in his prime at that point.....

      Yep. I do not like him AT ALL. Until ROTS, but too far gone by then.

    • @Indomitable
      @Indomitable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He followed the rules, was honest about the situation, and was willing to give as good a word towards Dooku as he could in that situation. Windu and Ki-Adi-Mundi even defended Dooku.
      (Talking to Queen Amidala) Ki-Adi-Mundi: "He is a political Idealist, not a murderer." "Mace Windu: "You know M'lady, Count Dooku was once a jedi, he could not assassinate anyone. It's not in his character."
      Even when Dooku was questionable or horrid things, they defended him. Unfortunately, they were wrong about him (Very wrong just by watching the clone wars or reading the novelizations). Mace Windu is dogmatic, at times arrogant, but he follows the rules to a fault. He might rub you the wrong way, but he was not the villain. Windu never did anything as horrible as training a cybernetic assassin that killed countless Jedi, using entirely peaceful people as targets for a new weapon with no aggression from them, or enslaving the whole of a Togruta colony, who were pacifists and neutral.
      I see this line of thinking when in regards to Anakin too "If Mace accepted him, Anakin would not have....(insert here). Windu did not make him turn to the dark side, he did. Windu did not make him kill younglings, he did. Windu did not choke his wife almost to death in an explosion of rage when she was just trying to help him, endangering their children in the process, he did.
      Windu and Yoda were NOT perfect. But just because someone acts stern and almost like they are in a military force does not make them the worst person in the room. Dooku was far from the most evil person, but people have to accept the horrendous things he did.

    • @treceydory9303
      @treceydory9303 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No he didn’t… he just followed the rules to a fault. He didn’t ever once throw Dooku under the bus or admonish him or anything. You don’t have to like Windu, but you can at least get the facts right

    • @jmwilliamsart
      @jmwilliamsart ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Indomitable The problem is that Windu and the council didn’t give Anakin the benefit of the doubt, they never gave him any trust just because he didn’t fit their mold of what a Jedi should be. Windu and the others should’ve been more open minded like Qui Gon was instead of just blindly following the rules and the corrupt senate all the time. Sometimes you need to trust your instincts, and do what your heart tells you. Plus what Windu said was utter hypocrisy, he and the Jedi were being too subservient to a corrupt senate, they were already too political to begin with. Why were the Jedi following the will of the senate instead of the will of the force like Qui Gon was? The Jedi are like robots blindly following orders. By following the senate they lost the trust of the people of the Republic.

  • @zaneomega2

    20:29 Yes, the Jedi are called, they don't kidnap children like some people think. There's a really good story about Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon where they're summoned by a child parent's to secretly take their child w/o letting the Brother Eye style government know.

    Before Ahsoka, the only other Togruti shown was Shaak Ti. She appeared in "Attack of the Clones" and a deleted scene in "Revenge of the Sith." As Star Wars followers, it is easy to forget that most people don't follow all the details about background characters, planet names, etc, at least as much as with the first movies. If it had not been for the Kenner toys, most of us in the early days would not have known the names of bounty hunters, Ewoks, and others.

    The Light Jedi and Dark Jedi can sense the force in sentient species, and the Light Jedi and Dark Jedi (Before the Sith rule of two) would be able to track them through the force and whoever found the force sensitive child first whether the Light or Dark Jedi would train them in their ways, and I don’t believe that it is canon anymore though Palpatine and Vader would use the force to help them find the remaining Light Jedi so that they could kill them, Luke eventually uses the force to find force sensitive children after the initial fall of the Empire and canonically it’s during this time that he discovered that Ben Solo is force sensitive along with other children.

    This is part of what makes Count Dooku's fall to the dark side so meaningful. The 2nd and 3rd episode show Dooku witness corruption, and how the Jedi became too wrapped up in the Senate and forgot about the people. At this point, Dooku is completely right in terms of taking care of the people vs the Senate. Mace Windu is just spouting out Jedi dogma. Mace is by the book, and almost behaving like a clone. Mace is powerful, but so strict on rules that he missed the point that Dooku was trying to convey. The Jedi are basically allowing the corruption to continue by not getting involved... and much later, Qui-gon would confirm that by stating that he had not actually come to free the slaves on Tatooine, which was the Jedi policy to support the Republic Senate. Padme seemed more concerned about Anakin being a slave than Qui-gon or Obiwan were... though she may have just been unfamiliar with how Outer Rim systems worked outside the Republic.

    You may not be following the current Star Wars: Andor series, but as you noticed with Dooku, recent Star Wars writers are taking a note from The Expanse and creating characters that are multi-faceted. The people on the wrong side aren't always bad guys, and the underdogs aren't always good guys. Andor, btw, approaches The Expanse in excellent mature writing.

    I don’t know if it’s ever actually been outright said in the franchise but Ahsoka being Togruta has been known from the beginning since her species has been in other star wars material. Mainly the Jedi Council member Shaak Ti. If they haven’t said it in the Clone Wars, which would have been an easily forgettable word, and you don’t read into character backgrounds, you most likely wouldn’t know her species.

    Dude as much as I don’t like Dooku, I 100% agreed with them in episodes 2 and 3. Dooku’s intentions were always good, but his tactics were insane. He turned away from the Jedi because of the corruption he kept seeing and the Jedi Council’s inaction to stop it. Sidious convinced him the best way to get rid of the corruption was to join him.
    Little fun fact, Liam Neeson’s son voices young Qui-Gon.

    Make sure you have plenty of tissues for episode 4. In Life and Death we learned a lot about the culture of the Togrutans and how fast they teach their children, remember it was custom for Ahsoka as a 1 year old baby to go hunting with her mom, this also explains why Ahsoka was so fearless. Ahsoka spent her first 3 years with her people before Plo Koon discovered her and brought her to the Temple. Ahsoka's mom was a bad ass fighter and she definitely passed that gene down to Ahsoka. My theory is that Ahsoka is the will of the force since neither of her parents were force sensitive.

    I like that the fact this show doesn’t tell anything new but it fills in the gaps of the characters not just Ahsoka and Dooku but other characters like Mace and Qui-Gon.
    Ahsoka’s baby days were cute more importantly even as a newborn Ahsoka had the same traits that she would go to have later in her life (if you saw clone wars you’ll know) and she shows that all with the tiger creature.
    Dooku’s story mostly intrigued me because despite what we know of him in clone wars and in the movies he was once a good man who wanted to do good things for people he saw corruption in the Senate and as Jedi who are supposed to be peacekeepers slowly became more of the Republic’s enforcers less serving the will of the force more serving of the orders of politicians. It was evident with his mission with Mace he started calling him his friend but after the mission all the death and in the end Mace got a promotion. The way he address him as ‘Master Jedi’ instead of ‘friend’ was telling he no longer trusted Mace for being part of a council that took its orders from politicians. The irony really is how Mace said they do not take orders from politicians or ego and yet the Jedi became so political that they became generals fighting a war for the Republic and became too arrogant to see who masterminded the war in the beginning.
    Dooku’s time with Qui-Gon was also telling the fact Dooku was going to murder the Senator in cold blood and was stopped only when Qui-Gon found a peaceful solution. And for Dooku to tell Qui-Gon how he not only saved lives but that Qui-Gon was wiser than him for using a non-violent way says a lot Dooku is known to be a proud arrogant man to say his student had more wisdom than him shows he was a good man.

    Yeah… the Jedi aren’t exactly great about how they go about retrieving force sensitive children. Basically they take them from their families as soon as they are discovered with little to no choice given to them. Hell they almost didn’t let Anakin join because he was too old. Under the guise of goodness the Jedi order does a lot of shady stuff.

    I grew up a Windu fan, after watching this I'm more on Dooku's side.

    • @Indomitable
      @Indomitable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll post this here again. "Windu followed the rules, was honest about the situation, and was willing to give as good a word towards Dooku as he could in that situation.
It's not in his character.
      Even when Dooku was questionable or horrid things, they defended him. Unfortunately, they were wrong about him.
Dooku was far from the most evil person, but people have to accept the horrendous things he did."
      Let's be honest, I think most people would enjoy the personality of Dooku as opposed to dogmatic, follow the rules Windu. He was almost an ideal Jedi, and he made it as far in the ranks as he did with his skill and devotion to the Jedi order, as misguided as they were. Dooku made some horrible choices and went far and beyond being just "an annoying person who is a stickler for rules." I don't see a world where that is worse than what Dooku did, but admittedly, I probably would not want to hang out with Windu outside of work/missions. I'd put up with him to be trained by him, but he does not have a good track record of apprentices staying on the Light side of the force (In Legends, which is no longer canon unless they take inspiration from it). Mace was one of the few people who could stay devoted to the light and use Form VII (Vaapad). He learned that the hard way, along with said apprentices.
      Also fun note, Mace trained Depa Billaba, who became the master of Kanan Jarrus, who was Master of Ezra Bridger. Kind of an important turn of events there.

    Personally speaking, I think the reason Mace Windu rubs me the wrong way is that he kind of embodies the arrogance of the Jedi. By the time of the prequel movies, it seems like the Jedi Order has become mired in its own self importance and self righteousness. They've become so focused on their presence in the overall galactic order, that they fail to see the small but numerous injustices that are "beneath their notice".

Most don't even pass the trials to become a padawan, then most of them don't pass the trials to become a Jedi. But, that's me nitpicking. I really love the story the told, but I was kind of disappointed by the quality of animation. I mean, it's Disney, they could have done better.
