I have quit smoking many times in my life and most recently I had hypnotherapy done and quit for 8 months. Then for some stupid reason I gave in to my girlfriend's relentless smoking and took one of her cigarettes. I smoked for three whole weeks again because I thought that I could be the master of cigarettes. I had this bravado about me like: 'I can't get addicted, I quit for 8 months' Well that was true to start with but what happened after 2 weeks I started to get edgy and needed them more often and had to take deeper puffs to get the same feeling as before. I realized in that moment that I was a slave again and that I was training my brain to respond to smoking. The point is that I discovered something very important: There is no safe level of nicotine, there is no safe number of cigarettes. Smoking is not something that can be controlled. I cannot just say today: I need to watch my finances this week so I better not smoke, or I don't feel like smoking this week, maybe next week. Smoking doesn't work like that. It is around you 24/7 like a bad smell and a constant never-ending drug addiction. So I have given up again and this time it is permanent. I fooled myself into believing the lies that you described before and after experiencing it again I know for certain that it is all BS. What you have described is absolutely TRUE. So thank you. Every single video that I watch about smoking makes it so much easier to give this poison up forever without feeling like I am missing something. :-)

I love you. Thank you. I've been smoking for 3 years and I'm 20 years old, I was so stubborn about it. But it has made me feel like an old man real quick along with all the other bad habits that I said "screw it" to and let in. I'm gonna go back to being healthy and do good for myself and others. Thank you.

Signed up just to say thanks Chris. Recovering alcoholic/smoking addict myself and really appreciate your videos. I've read Allen Carr / Paul McKenna's stuff but seeing someone explain it in a video (from a personal experience) is really powerful. You've really helped me on my journey. Keep making great videos dude.

About the lack of confidence, another point is that when you are a smoker you may feel that you are unable to accomplish things (stress, lack of concentration, lack of energy, etc.) without having a cigarette and that certainly contributes to making you feel bad about yourself. It certainly has been my experience.

The way you explain the lies about smoking conveys credibility without monotony, remarkably believable video segment has convinced me what seven out of ten doctors never could, neither showing my lark nor a peer group taste should, nor an inner chamber of charcoal granules, nor amphoric maturity, neither daytime or nighttime nor virginian slimline could, nor all the country, untamed bravery nor houses of Dunhill should convince me to ever again inhale anything as real as fresh air, that's what I meant when I said only the best will do!

Chris, your videos should be the top results in youtube. Your videos are amazing - ive been trying to find other people with similar experiences and came across your depression video because thats the main pain for me right now ( 1 month exactly whilst writing this ). I know its not over yet but you’ve really helped me to accept what is happening to me. I also used to think i needed nicotine because of its nootropic effects but when you said its because of the last cigarette it just shattered that illusion. Your videos are like going to see a therapist. Im truly grateful you’re on this planet and you decided to share on youtube. Take care :)

    Hi, Chris!
When I listen to your videos! I can do much relate that to myself! I was drinking too much and too long. I’m done witch that for already for more than a year. So now the smoking habit is bothering me so much. I’m sick of it. Smoking for already like 20 years and smoked my last cigarette today and hopefully will stay smoke free. Thank you for sharing your stories with us!

This is the ONLY video that has helped me fight cravings. Honestly seen so much about the physical benefits which honestly make no difference to my motivation to quit, because I still feel deprived. You have articulated addiction in such an eloquent and beautifully accurate way- thanks so much thank you thank youu. I am going to journal now about dispelling the illusions and the lies that we tell ourselves about smoking. AMAZING !

"I'm in pain, a cigarette will help me cope... distraction. We have thoughts and we act on them. It's most likely good to hear over and over again how awful smoking is and how it is better to quit and that it's even possible. We need the new thoughts because the old ones try to get back in. Until it is no longer a struggle. For some people, talking about quitting is enough to make themselves feel better about not quitting. It's an extremely personal journey.

Ps.this is not my first attempt to quit, but i hope it s the last

Hi Chris. Your videos are simply awesome! I stumbled across your review of Allen Carr's book and I am really interested and LISTENING to what you are saying. I am almost 58. I started smoking when I was 13 and have never quit before. I don't remember or know what living "smoke free" is like. So MY biggest lie is that I can't live without them - I will die without my smokes. I've always joked about my smoking to deflect the negative attention - I've said I will never quit, I'll be buried with a cigarette and lighter in my hands and my tombstone will read: "Here lies Patricia. She finally quit smoking. May she rest in peace". Listening to you here, I realize that THAT is NOT funny. Thinking it was is my second biggest lie. So thanks for your insight and support. I've only been smoke-free for one day. I'm using the patch and it's not as bad as I expected! I haven't died all day! Still living and breathing! Thank you Chris - I will continue with the rest of your videos. You've really made a difference for me! Take care and keep making videos - I'm a huge fan!

Hi Patricia, thank you so much for such a beautiful message, it really warmed my heart to read your comments! I'm so sorry it's taken me almost a week to reply! Great job on making the decision to quit. I hope if you read this reply you're still alive and well and smoke free!
I found it's only once I put the cigs down that I truly started to lvie, or at least to experience life fully! Do keep in touch and let me know how you're doing with your journey, and thank you again for such a wonderful message!

Hi, Chris Day 7 quit smoking here with nicotine patch after 2 main relapses. Thank you for all the informations and facts about the lies of smoking. One of the lies of smoking that i thought a lot about and make excuses to keep smoking is that i use the cigarrete to smoke like a rocket fuel to keep me going in the firs few puffs but actually after those puffs i feel more weaker and stressed. It helps temporarily to relax but before that happens i get to smoke few more cigarretes which make me more addicted to it until i got to the point im smoking up to 1 pack of cigarretes in one day and ended up spending more money buying them. I wasted a lot of money buying cigarretes by throwing the unfinished pack and keep buying a new pack for the sake of smoking less cigarretes which never happened.

Great video. I have wanted to be a non smoker for years but it's tough. Smoking is an addiction to nicotine. Just like any other drug we are dependent on. The relief felt when smoking is the nicotine addiction being fed....that's all.

Day 4 no cigs. Thanks for the video, your the only channel I have subscribed too on youtube. Pulling up your videos to listen too during my normal craving times at work seems to be doing the trick. With too many attempts, to quit, to count. I embarrassingly haven't gone 4 days without smoking in a very long time. Feeling proud. Good luck to everyone else. If you guys have other methods you use during cravings please share. Using all the tools I can get.

The stress you think that cigarette is calming is actually just a nicotine craving, your still stressed, that puff just satisfied the nicotine urge, making you think your somehow less stressed.

every time you get the desire to smoke one, "YOU MUST BE AWARE"
that if actually going to smoke, a need for more smoking, being a shaking wake up again,
it is like a dog that always comes to the dinner table begging,
Then you decide to give him nothing
    (you STOP SMOKE)
and finally, the dog goes more and more accepts it and goes more relaxed lay down the table,
I throw him one piece, and he is again drooling the coming day,s or weeks at the dinner table begging,
it,s almost the same thing as you do just smoke a cigarette again.
I did stop many times in those 47 years, and be start now in my day 14 without smoke,
total cold turkey, no nicotine or medics,
(only water ice or candy I do for now)
some the say the going doing use an E-cigarette,
but as I hear of it, then the most be still also have those feeling ones a while
for to smoke for a real cigarette,
so why to be that ? as an E-cigarette do also have nicotine in it, it makes no sense then

Never really coughed in the mornings even though I smoked thirty a day for forty years?
You talk about the cigarette relaxing but it's not really relaxing so how do you explain a long term ex smoker lighting a cigarette uo after years of being without getting relaxation? It can't be the last cigarette that caused it because nicotine has been years out of the body?

Thanks Chris.. It really is a trap.. For example when I travelled with family to a distant place in my car..I used to be only worried about my next break for a cigarette.. It used to make me irritable and I couldn't enjoy what my children said or did...my wife felt as if I'm going to explode with anger. Dreading that I'll take out my anger on the kids she used to quietly tell me to take a break.. look for a place you could hide and smoke so that your kids aren't watching..And when I did get the fix it used to be horrible. I literally puked 🤢 everytime trying to inhale it in one go.. It was so frustrating😭😭.. And the cycle kept repeating.. But not anymore❤️ you've helped me get rid of the poison Chris 🙏👍👍 God bless you
