I always loved Marillion. My first concert was Rush and Marillion at the Springfield Civic Center in Massachusetts in 1985-86-ish. The post-Fish era is my favorite though.

Check out This Strange Engine. My all time favorite Marillion tune.

Steve Rothery is one of the best prog-style guitarists out there, in my opinion. But Marillion is not a guitar-oriented band, certainly. There's a lot of sharing the spotlight and subtle support work Steve does. Listen to "Sugar Mice" from the same album. Still might not be your jam, and that's fair. But there are reasons why Steve Rothery is regarded so highly. If you haven't listened to a few of his solos in some of Marillion's songs, you're missing out on some really top-tier artistry. He's good friends with Steve Hackett as well, and they are rumoured to be eventually putting out an album together.

Could you react to Marillion "The Great Escape" live please. From the 1994 album Brave.

So after many years, does Marillion and their 80's hit Incommunicado make Ed's playlist, or as he calls it his "Inner Circle of Awesomeness"?

Please, try different Marillion. Yes, this was very heavy on the keyboards, and far too poppy.
Fish did go solo, and they both continue to make music to this day. Marillion had Steve Hogarth join them and he remains there now.
Marillion are typically much more guitar oriented, and though some may shout Blasphemy!, I put Steve Rothery in the same tier as David Guilmour.
Just try this one: Neverland (live) from 2004: th-cam.com/video/xeoxxpVUQgs/w-d-xo.html

Okay, sounds like you've got a wee bit to catch up on...are they still around you ask? Oh yes! Soooo...Fish left in 1988 after 4 studio albums, and in 1989 Steve Hogarth (aka H) joined as his replacement - that's the most recent line-up change they've had and another 14 albums have followed. I'd suggest checking out The Space from the recentish Royal Albert Hall Blu-ray (not a guitar heavy track but superb demonstration of the atmosphere you get at a Marillion gig these days and shows off the 'new boys' voice in fine fashion) or Neverland (the Out of Season version you'll find on youtube is as good as any - again you have to wait for the guitar on that one but (trust me) IT'S WORTH IT! :-)

This is actually, in my opinion, very keyboard-heavy even for Marillion. It's always been one which I felt embarrassed by if anyone else heard me hearing it -- except the lyrics are great. I listen to Marillion more for Rothery's guitar, Fish's vocals and lyrics, and Ian Mosley's drums. Although I don't hear them as much these days, I have noticed that Mark Kelly's keyboards are a lot more subtle these days. They tend to be more atmospheric -- with notable exceptions.
Speaking of Phish -- I remember in the early 1990's having a party at my apartment and one of my co-workers wrote on our note board, 'Fish rocks!' (A love of Marillion was the one thing we had in common.) My roommate, who had just gotten her new issue of Rolling Stone which mentioned Phish on the cover, wrote below that, 'Fish or Phish.' Underneath that was written, 'Not Phish, Fish.'
After almost thirty years, I still remember that for some reason. File that under: 'Conversations people would never have today.'
As for Genesis: I would highly recommend reacting to the live version of 'Los Endos' featuring Bill Bruford with Phil Collins on percussion and drums. The video below has the correct speed and the link is all cued up:

Late to the commenting on this one due to that dreaded C19 lockdown, but very appreciative to both hear and see this, as it is my favourite track from my favourite album by the Fish-fronted incarnation of Marillion. As for whether it is too poppy or not, perish the thought!! The keyboards are beyond reproach, and the tight rhythm section and precise guitar work of Mr. Rothery lend it the approriate degree of rawkin'(!) awesomenes. Yeah, kinda imagine that this tune might have been a little bit too heavy for some of those bandwagon-jumping "Kayleigh" enthusiasts, but the crowd at this particular concert sure did seem to dig it. Cheers!

Funny that you choose this track, this is the least good track on the album (imo).
More guitar based, try the first three track on the album, White Russians or Sugar Mice!!
    Or try Neverland by Marillion!!
