I've cut contact with my abusive parent for going in almost a year now, I sent her a long text stating why exactly I did so and letting her know some knowledge I had in contact with my little sister, who overheard the family badmouthing me, and promptly let me know. In the text I explained that to her and let her know I didn't appreciate it and that I'd be blocking her. So I did. But then she removed my number off of my little sister's watch, not phone, watch. (which the 'mother' controls by the way.) So then I couldn't contact my little sister, and still can't to this day, now I've been watching some of these videos and debating wether I should give the womb donor a piece of my mind. In a respectful and purely logic based way, that's how I am, I could refute every argument of hers with pure logic, I'm sure of it. I just dunno if I should... Sometimes I think I didn’t have it “bad enough” with my situation because my stuff seems tiny compared to this. Sorry to vent and shit but here’s my story (TW: small mention of Self Harm) Some context before we start: my bio dad is super lazy and doesn’t care a lot about me or my little brother. My mom and stepdad have chores for me and my lil bro to do, but genuinely care about us. I moved out of bio dad’s house and permanently stayed with mom. Little brother then moved in with bio dad as a result. I’m currently in college, he’s still CHOOSING to be with bio dad :( So, I have an alcoholic and verbally/emotionally abusive bio dad. Manipulative, narcissistic, always made me anxious, gaslighting, screaming at me, guilt tripping, playing the victim, etc. he literally doesn’t give two shits about me. When I came out to him, he said “I don’t care.” He also had a very, VERY toxic relationship with his boyfriend (idk if he’s bi or gay, doesn’t matter). They were EXTREMELY verbally abusive and hostile, exposing that to both me and my little brother. They also had the cops called on them for a domestic disturbance: bio dad was breaking shit with a machete and a baseball bat and (I presume) threatening the bf. Bf hid in my little brother’s room with little brother, who was scared out of his mind and instantly started hugging/sobbing my mom when he saw her. He also proceeded to scream at me and guilt trip me by playing the victim and accusing my mom of being abusive (which she is not!), all because he found out that I had been hurting myself. Context for that: I broke down one day and told my mom I was su!cidal, and she said that she had to tell him or else she would get in trouble (I begged her not to, but I understood why it happened) Oh, and my Step-Dad - who’s also verbally/emotionally abusive. Constant threats of taking stuff away, guilt tripping, would NEVER let you speak, very poor communication, playing the victim, taking everything out on you, yelling/screaming, etc. He spit tobacco in my face once while yelling at me (in a public Walmart mind you). Also verbally abused me while working on my own car. Constantly also calling me dumb and full of “attitude”, and liked calling me a “bitch”. Oh, and my mom - she has never done anything bad to me verbal abuse wise, other than an occasional unintentional guilt trip and random breakdowns, along with helicopter parenting - but she gets a pass, she’s an angel otherwise. I bring her up because she has had Covid 4 times, and she can very easily get sick and is literally disabled now. When I was like 16(?) and she was having Covid for like the second time, which she later told me that she almost died because of it (fun times /s), I had an anxiety attack one night because I literally could not sleep because I was so scared my mom was going to die. She did do this one weird thing where when I had a breakdown and said that if I had never came out as trans I likely would’ve killed myself - and then I find out that this MF had been recording the whole conversation in SECRET - BEHIND MY BACK, WITHOUT MY CONSENT!! I told her to delete it tho, and she quickly agreed so I presume (or hope at least) that she did. Plus, my older stepbrother was a complete d!ck to me all the time, and my little brother and I are on rough terms (though neither were necessarily abusive towards me). I just don’t feel like my trauma “really counts” because I was never physically hurt and I didn’t have any belongings broken :/ plus police were never called on me and I never ran away. I had basic privacy and I had boundaries that they (somewhat) respected. Idk tho. Sorry for ranting and stuff :,)

I love my mom and I’m very close with her especially since I’m still a child but it’s because I’m a child that she downplays my opinions. She never listens to me and never hears me out even in the few moments I vent to her about anything at all. I could tell her my worst fears and struggles with my current life (which ironically happen to mostly be about her and my dad, who would’ve guessed) and it’d go in one ear out the other. I confronted her about it recently and it evolved into an argument. It ended with her saying that my opinions don’t matter/aren’t valid because I’m the child she’s the parent. I know people say things they sometimes don’t mean when they’re mad. I understand that since she’s my mother I should listen to her. But that was uncalled for, especially coming from the person that I’ve looked up to all my life, who’s supposed to be the person I can go to when I need support and talk to when I need a shoulder to lean on. I understand I’m young, just barley starting my sophomore year and not even of age yet, but I’m mature enough to know that should not have happened and that my own mother should not be saying that to me. I kind of went on a bit of a rant there, I apologize. This is honestly a bit of a safe space considering how supportive everyone here is, and being able to anonymously share this without it being out of place for a change is honestly really nice. I hope nobody can relate to this comment, I’m very aware that it’s a very not great situation (especially since I really do want to be closer with her), but if anyone does relate then you know you’re not alone ❤

Don't know if this helps,: the "greater/lesser than" symbol goes from left to right same way as we read. 5 > 2 is greater than, arrow points from left to right (symbol's mouth / crocodile's mouth is open towards the left side / bigger item (for croc to eat)) 2 < 5 is less than, arrow points opposite way, but we read from left to right, so we now say "less than" because we can't say "five is greater than two" or whatever. arrow points to smaller number. if the number is on the left, it's less than, if on the right it's greater than. (I learned this in my thirties, even if you are taught it at school, many factors can cause you to not retain or even understand and take this information in, no shame in it)

Ah yes, time for another round of r/insaneparents. I personally find these comforting because as the child of one very insane and terrible person of a mother, I know I am not the only one. And I'd like to share my own little story here with all of you out there, since isn't that what the internet is for? Sharing stuff with complete strangers? So I never had what you would call a healthy, functional or even just a good relationship with my mother, because she's not only insane, but also a terrible person and therefore a terrible mother. When I was probably around 12 years old, my mother actually told me, "I never wanted to have any kids, but your father did and so we had you!" And my response was, "oh ok." Like I said, I never had a good relationship with my mother, so when she told me that bit of information, I just thought, well ok that totally makes sense, and that's why my dad takes me to go do fun things with him and you don't. (Nor did she accompany us for most activities either.) So there's that little bit of background information, and the last time I spoke to her she actually asked me how old I was. Now I'm an only child, and so she literally doesn't remember what day (or what year) she gave birth to her only daughter, and it's a holiday, my birthday is October 31st so I was born on Halloween 🎃 And so I have a little joke that I share with my husband. And that I'd like to share with all of you out there, my fellow children of insane/terrible parents, my traumatized brethren...so I tell him, "Baby you really know me better than anybody, even my own mother, you even know when my birthday is (and my age)!" It's OK go ahead and laugh, well maybe just smile at least, I know it's not THAT funny, but to me it is since it's true! 🤣💀 Now I'm not bitter, or even hurt (not anymore anyways) since I've been an adult and have really distanced myself from both of my parents by moving to a different state, and I have a dark sense of humor, clearly. I can go ahead and laugh at the vast majority of my childhood trauma. And I hope that you can as well. Love how my parents think they’re “toughing me up” by completely ignoring my trauma and dangerous mental illnesses, only acting like they care when cps knocks at their door because i called the suicide helpline when i was having a mental breakdown that lasted about a week, telling me that i have to stop being a “problem” and that i need to “suck it up” and not really caring when i was forced to tell them about the sexual grooming taht i went through when i was 11 and just telling me “it happened years ago, why are you still thinking and mad about it, you need to suck it up” when i’ve been going through probably the worst psychotic breakdown of my life because of said grooming (delusions, sexual hallucinations, daily anxiety attacks, relapse, dangerously low mood, going out like 5 times the whole summer etc.)
as someone who is about to complete cut off and move on from parents who chased me from home blaming me for their problems, i kinda enjoy these videos and each one gives me more and more ideas. to try

The homophobic mom is relatable for me. I'll do a little story time here.
So when I was still living with my mom. She was always constantly talking about how Trans people are gross human beings yet, I have a fiancé their non binary and she goes on I'll find a man eventually and we won't last long (we've been together for a year and a half.). Now that I live far away from her I blocked her out of my life. And since I was in a dangerous place too cuz I have seizures she was always stressing me out causing me to go to the hospital three times. Got a minor concussion too.

I've cut contact with my abusive parent for going in almost a year now, I sent her a long text stating why exactly I did so and letting her know some knowledge I had in contact with my little sister, who overheard the family badmouthing me, and promptly let me know.
In the text I explained that to her and let her know I didn't appreciate it and that I'd be blocking her. So I did.
But then she removed my number off of my little sister's watch, not phone, watch. (which the 'mother' controls by the way.)
So then I couldn't contact my little sister, and still can't to this day, now I've been watching some of these videos and debating wether I should give the womb donor a piece of my mind. In a respectful and purely logic based way, that's how I am, I could refute every argument of hers with pure logic, I'm sure of it.

Sorry to vent and shit but here’s my story (TW: small mention of Self Harm)
Some context before we start: my bio dad is super lazy and doesn’t care a lot about me or my little brother. My mom and stepdad have chores for me and my lil bro to do, but genuinely care about us.
I moved out of bio dad’s house and permanently stayed with mom. Little brother then moved in with bio dad as a result. I’m currently in college, he’s still CHOOSING to be with bio dad :(
So, I have an alcoholic and verbally/emotionally abusive bio dad. Manipulative, narcissistic, always made me anxious, gaslighting, screaming at me, guilt tripping, playing the victim, etc.
he literally doesn’t give two shits about me. When I came out to him, he said “I don’t care.”
He also had a very, VERY toxic relationship with his boyfriend (idk if he’s bi or gay, doesn’t matter). They were EXTREMELY verbally abusive and hostile, exposing that to both me and my little brother. They also had the cops called on them for a domestic disturbance: bio dad was breaking shit with a machete and a baseball bat and (I presume) threatening the bf. Bf hid in my little brother’s room with little brother, who was scared out of his mind and instantly started hugging/sobbing my mom when he saw her.
He also proceeded to scream at me and guilt trip me by playing the victim and accusing my mom of being abusive (which she is not!), all because he found out that I had been hurting myself.
Context for that: I broke down one day and told my mom I was su!cidal, and she said that she had to tell him or else she would get in trouble (I begged her not to, but I understood why it happened)
Oh, and my Step-Dad - who’s also verbally/emotionally abusive. Constant threats of taking stuff away, guilt tripping, would NEVER let you speak, very poor communication, playing the victim, taking everything out on you, yelling/screaming, etc.
He spit tobacco in my face once while yelling at me (in a public Walmart mind you).
Also verbally abused me while working on my own car. Constantly also calling me dumb and full of “attitude”, and liked calling me a “bitch”.
Oh, and my mom - she has never done anything bad to me verbal abuse wise, other than an occasional unintentional guilt trip and random breakdowns, along with helicopter parenting - but she gets a pass, she’s an angel otherwise.
I bring her up because she has had Covid 4 times, and she can very easily get sick and is literally disabled now.
When I was like 16(?) and she was having Covid for like the second time, which she later told me that she almost died because of it (fun times /s), I had an anxiety attack one night because I literally could not sleep because I was so scared my mom was going to die.
She did do this one weird thing where when I had a breakdown and said that if I had never came out as trans I likely would’ve killed myself - and then I find out that this MF had been recording the whole conversation in SECRET - BEHIND MY BACK, WITHOUT MY CONSENT!!
I told her to delete it tho, and she quickly agreed so I presume (or hope at least) that she did.
Plus, my older stepbrother was a complete d!ck to me all the time, and my little brother and I are on rough terms (though neither were necessarily abusive towards me).
I just don’t feel like my trauma “really counts” because I was never physically hurt and I didn’t have any belongings broken :/ plus police were never called on me and I never ran away. I had basic privacy and I had boundaries that they (somewhat) respected. Idk tho. Sorry for ranting and stuff :,)

I love my mom and I’m very close with her especially since I’m still a child but it’s because I’m a child that she downplays my opinions. She never listens to me and never hears me out even in the few moments I vent to her about anything at all. I could tell her my worst fears and struggles with my current life (which ironically happen to mostly be about her and my dad, who would’ve guessed) and it’d go in one ear out the other. I confronted her about it recently and it evolved into an argument. It ended with her saying that my opinions don’t matter/aren’t valid because I’m the child she’s the parent.
I know people say things they sometimes don’t mean when they’re mad. I understand that since she’s my mother I should listen to her. But that was uncalled for, especially coming from the person that I’ve looked up to all my life, who’s supposed to be the person I can go to when I need support and talk to when I need a shoulder to lean on. I understand I’m young, just barley starting my sophomore year and not even of age yet, but I’m mature enough to know that should not have happened and that my own mother should not be saying that to me.
I kind of went on a bit of a rant there, I apologize. This is honestly a bit of a safe space considering how supportive everyone here is, and being able to anonymously share this without it being out of place for a change is honestly really nice. I hope nobody can relate to this comment, I’m very aware that it’s a very not great situation (especially since I really do want to be closer with her), but if anyone does relate then you know you’re not alone ❤

Don't know if this helps,: the "greater/lesser than" symbol goes from left to right same way as we read.
5 > 2 is greater than, arrow points from left to right (symbol's mouth / crocodile's mouth is open towards the left side / bigger item (for croc to eat))
2 < 5 is less than, arrow points opposite way, but we read from left to right, so we now say "less than" because we can't say "five is greater than two" or whatever.
arrow points to smaller number. if the number is on the left, it's less than, if on the right it's greater than.
(I learned this in my thirties, even if you are taught it at school, many factors can cause you to not retain or even understand and take this information in, no shame in it)

Ah yes, time for another round of r/insaneparents. I personally find these comforting because as the child of one very insane and terrible person of a mother, I know I am not the only one. And I'd like to share my own little story here with all of you out there, since isn't that what the internet is for? Sharing stuff with complete strangers?
So I never had what you would call a healthy, functional or even just a good relationship with my mother, because she's not only insane, but also a terrible person and therefore a terrible mother. When I was probably around 12 years old, my mother actually told me, "I never wanted to have any kids, but your father did and so we had you!" And my response was, "oh ok." Like I said, I never had a good relationship with my mother, so when she told me that bit of information, I just thought, well ok that totally makes sense, and that's why my dad takes me to go do fun things with him and you don't. (Nor did she accompany us for most activities either.)
So there's that little bit of background information, and the last time I spoke to her she actually asked me how old I was. Now I'm an only child, and so she literally doesn't remember what day (or what year) she gave birth to her only daughter, and it's a holiday, my birthday is October 31st so I was born on Halloween 🎃
And so I have a little joke that I share with my husband. And that I'd like to share with all of you out there, my fellow children of insane/terrible parents, my traumatized brethren...so I tell him, "Baby you really know me better than anybody, even my own mother, you even know when my birthday is (and my age)!"
It's OK go ahead and laugh, well maybe just smile at least, I know it's not THAT funny, but to me it is since it's true! 🤣💀
Now I'm not bitter, or even hurt (not anymore anyways) since I've been an adult and have really distanced myself from both of my parents by moving to a different state, and I have a dark sense of humor, clearly. I can go ahead and laugh at the vast majority of my childhood trauma. And I hope that you can as well.
