I keep comparing this knives to others in my collection, and it’s just superb. This is a knife I keep coming back to. It’s much more functional than the beautiful appearance would initially lead you to believe.
But it's Swedish 😂. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder by the way. There was a wolf shot up here not long ago. We don't really have them in Lapland anymore but occasionally one comes and starts attacking the reindeer. Just like Unni wanted to do last night. To be honest it's a pain that we have them around the house sometimes. Looks like a great knife and I like the look of the leather much more than the zytel. I have always been curious about this brand too, but like you I always thought they were overpriced. Happy New year Llari.
This being Swedish is a hard pill to swallow, hahaha!😂 ( just kidding of course, love the country). I find that Fällknivens are just tad too pricey in general. Though this I got through a great deal. Sometimes I see them in second hand with very nice prices, so I just might get the regular F1 for a Fishing companion if I get a good deal. I guess in Northern Lappland had never so big Wolf population, could be wrong (heard this from somewhere). Here the population just keeps growing, and poses many new questions, attitude changes etc (so fresh tracks just today really close to village). Have an awesome new year Tim!🌲🔪🌲
Thank you for the great review! I too have been looking to buy an Embla. Now I will for sure get one. Fallkniven makes wonderful knives. My favorite EDC is the H1 and they just made it in Elmax! I will get another H1 in Elmax, then the Embla! I suggest looking at the H1! Wonderful knife!
Have been quite surprised by this one, extremely usable. And didn’t thought its going to be! Thanx for the the tip on H1, looks very nice. Think I almost bought it second hand a while back. Fällkniven knives are extremely available second hand here. But this is the first one wierdly enough. Thanx for watching my friend! 🌲🔪🌲🐺🌲
@@OldForestBushcraft They just released the H1 in ELMAX, I will HAVE to get one! Like you, I'm a purist and do not care that much for these modern Rubberized handles on knives, but Fallkniven has really done a good job on their knives! Their rubber coated handles are really comfortable and extremely durable!! I live in Arizona in the US which is all DESERT! But if I lived in a cold environment like you do, the rubberized handle would be a blessing in the extreme cold! Thank you again for the informative video's, I love them and LEARN a lot from your expert knowledge!
@@joncox9719 After this knife Im really looking Fällkniven blades differently! F1 I was close to buying many many times. And will surely get one at some point. Indeed I think the rubberized handle is probably going to be great in many situations. And for sure in the cold environment. And good to hear its also comfortable. I will surely look H1 closely, now after your praise. Looks to be a very nice design! Thanx for watching, and have a great weekend!🌲🔪🌲
Looks like a fine knife, I have an F1 laminate built from when they use to sell blanks. I think you are sensible to keep an eye out for wolves. They are not cuddly and friendly like disney tells us. I am in Florida , high temperatures, high humidity ,sub-tropical environment. We have no wolves, but gators, crocodiles, pythons and face-eating zombies.
now after using this knife, im thinking of getting the F1 also. They often to be found at very good prices second hand. Would make probably a nice fishing companion. "Face eating zombies" haha😂 (remember that case, fucking insane). Thanx for watching, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
I could use a bit of your passion for knives. That gene for me is buried somewhere deep inside me. It takes a long time for me to develop a bond with a blade. I couldn’t make out if that was the VG-10 or Cobalt version? I have yet to try Fallkniven’s COS steel...
Well good to hear my passion comes through😅. This is a lam.cos. Absolutely no idea how good it is. Well guess I'll find out. Thanx for watching my friend!🌲🐺🔪
This was kind of my thoughts also. I thought its not going to be a functional use knife. Was just basically curious of tasting a Fällkniven. But boy was I wrong. Most definitely a use knife for me. Functional design imo. Thanx for watching, and have an awesome day!🌲🔪🌲🐺🌲
I gave myself this knife for Christmas. A real beauty. And indeed a good knife, at least for working with wood ("Lighter" tasks. would never ever baton with it). However, it took me 10 minutes to get it out of the sheath for the first time 😵💫. I bought it as a hunting knife (as described on the box). Time will tell if the geometry of the blade and the materials are really good for hunting purposes. But with wet, cold hands it is almost impossible to get the knife out of the sheath. Especially when it is so far into the sheath that the emblem is no longer visible. Of course, you can fix the problem, or it will solve itself over time. But I have never owned such a tight leather sheath before. Nevertheless, I love this knife! Great review as always!
Yeah the leather sheath is one of the tightes I've seen with that kind of knives. Puukkos can have that also. Just had a new puukko I just could not take it out, I though I have to break the sheath. At the end I managed with the help of a leatherman, lol😂. A bit of an overdrive.. I really dig the knife. Kind of my gateway to Fallkniven knives. Never used them before (which is really strange, as I've been into knives over 30 years and live in Finland, where they are quite available everywhere. Havw another Fallkniven coming next week, liked this so much, lol. Thanx for watching my friend!🌲🔪🌲🐺🌲
Same for me.. impossible to take out of the sheath . So , a small brush to oil the first inch by the inside , will make the leather smoother after some days, and a lanyard in the cap hole is efficient to grip the knife, and secure it. Since that, it's a pleasure now..
One of the best knives I own and definitely one of the most beautiful.
Oh yes, this is indeed a winner this one. Great sheath also. Starting to dig fällkniven more and more.
Thx for watching!
