    I have low density hair and love mini braids, but struggle with feeling confident with the 'scalpy' look. Thanks for doing this. Definitely a confidence boost.

      Yes ma’am like she said you better rock those braids! Rock that healthy beautiful crown! I mean imagine having her length and people “side eying” her beautiful long healthy mane… just because it’s naturally low density ugh people need to stop hating fr it’s madness 🤪

      I feel the same way when I do mini-twists on my thin natural hair. I’m self-conscious about the crown of my hair being so sparse, and patches of exposed scalp. 😳

      I have low la-low low low density 4b-ish kkkk
      what I do is my regular twists (not too big to look nasty on the sencond day already, but not to smal so that I lose my patience taking it down because I'm lazy) and I wear it with clip buns and ponytails. It looks nice too ☺☺

      as someone with really dense thick hair.. I wish my hair was a lot thinner and I could have that scalpy look.. I think it looks a lot neater and I get a lot of headaches bc my hair is is dense and my scalp gets sore from doing it.... no matter how gentle I am

    My hairdresser dries my hair on low heat and I like that. We aim to dry and stretch out a little but not straighten the hair too much. This protects the hair more and reduces likelihood of heat damage. I am glad you mentioned that edges styling because a lot of people don't realize they damage edges doing that. I never touch mine because my edges are from a different planet and never cooperate.

    In the Caribbean and the Carribean diaspora in the UK, this is what some women did to take care if their hair, either single plaits or cane rows. It take patience and time though, and today I think women just want quick and relatively instantaneous and that is what wigs or weaves affords. However wigs can be worn with this style too, so as long as you look after your plaited hair and make sure it's not too tight at the edges or nape, who should be able to have healthy own hair, whilst wearing a wig.

      Try taking them down with oil. You can saturate the end a good bit. I've been really loving hemp oil to detangle my fine 4b hair and my daughter's fine 4a high porosity hair, but pretty much any oil that your hair likes would be fine. Coconut, olive, grapeseed, hemp are at the top of my list for recommendations.

    • @candicefamber5434
      @candicefamber5434 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Also keep in mind that "mini" is relative so do what's manageable for you. You can treat it as what I call a progressive style. Week 1- make 4 quadrants and put 6 or 8 braids in each. 2 weeks later, split those braids in half and see if that's comfortable. Decide in 2 weeks or so if you want to go smaller. I hope that helps!

    Finally somebody with fine strands but medium density! I think you have thick density cause I have medium density and it does noooottt look like yours haha. I get a lot of compliments when my hair is in a puff that it's full etc but I know how to fake it haha. Unfortunately a few months ago I put on a wig for the first time and when I took it off it ripped out my already fine babyhairs on the left side of my head. It has grown back but it's thinner than before unfortunately. Do you have any tips?

    This is one style I'll probably never do - just thinking of the takedown gives me anxiety lol.

    Been using that blow dryer for YEARS. I love it, but it only last about a year or 2 depending on how often you blow dry. I keep buying it though lol

    I’m 1000% sure I’ll be keeping plaits and two strand twist in all summer.
    When I’m not rocking my own hair, it’ll be knotless braids and faux Locs.
    Great video!
