In this video, I play the Ponziani Opening against a beginner level Twitch subscriber. I showed no mercy, and my opponent walked into one of the most common Ponziani Traps. After the game, I provided some additional advice and tips when it comes to playing the Ponziani Opening.

Everytime i tried to play an opening trap, i get trapped.
ye like sometimes they dont play the "best move" and it throws me off
First 3rd of chess is theory. Just remembering what other people played. Real skill doesnt come until midgame.

Thats the problem with tactics. You have to improve your positional gameplay. You cant rely on tactics forever.

As someone who has taught writing to college students for many years, I appreciate the positive and encouraging tone that Eric uses while sharing bad news with his opponents. I try to do the same during office hours consultations on an essay that needs a lot of work.

Everyone else: Get better and figure out why you're losing.

I developed this exact opening on my own very recently, I didn't know there was a name for it. This single opening has really helped me fight my way from 800 to 930 in blitz games. I would say this opening works 60% of the time, everytime.
I just watched this guy for the first time,and I immediately like his content,it's easy to understand for an intermediate player like me , pretty sure I'll be back to this channel
I like how Eric doesn't care about opening principles and leaves his knight and rook undeveloped until all the damage is already done. Instead he prefers to maintain an attack and keep the pressure on.
Damn someone used this opening on me yesterday and I didn't know it. Luckily he had no idea what he was doing and I was able to win. But I would've been destroyed by this had he been more experienced

I’m pretty new to chess and don’t really know any openings. Two days ago I played a game and this was my opponent’s opening. I didn’t really understand what they were aiming for, but he ended up too focused on what he was doing and didn’t seem to know to to respond when I threatened his queen

5:42 you can play bishop to d2 and if the opponents queen takes the white bishop, now you can play rook to e1. 🔥🔥🔥
Bishop d2 is too SLOW... you need to play more active in such positions.

I believe the idea "if c3 then d5" holds up here. Easy way to avoid the Ponziani traps, and no real need to study this line further as black.
