  • DIY. How to fix a nasty squeaky clutch sound.
    This is common problem on some hydralic cluth car.
    I first though the terrible sound came from inside, from the cluth pedal or something. Wrong, it comes from where the slave cylinder and fork ( pivot ball )
    . Everytime you press the clutch you here the squeaking. It kind of gets on your nerves. :-)
    Car: Toyota Starlet EP91 from 1997
    Using bearing grease. Most people us white grease. But I didnt have that. The grease must be heat resistant. Preferably Lithium based.
    Disclaimer: Myself are not responsible for any damage or injury that may result from use of the this DIY. Automotive maintenance and repair should be performed by qualified technicians. This DIY is for informational purposes, use it at your own risk.
    Time to fix it. This is how I did it.
    Be careful so you dont get grease on your clutch though.

    Thank you for this info! I just did the same job on my Toyota Echo, I used a small paint brush to work the grease into the pivot. The hardest part was putting the rubber boot back in. All quiet now!

    My Subaru made the same noise. I removed the boot to the fork. Sprayed chain lubricant down to the pivot and noise instantly disappeared. Better than removing the transmission.

    Hei. Jeg har en 2000 mod corolla... Akuratt samme problem. Er den gummimansjetten mye jobb og få på plass etter at den er løsnet? Vurderer og bare spraye litt gjennom åpningen på mansjetten, men kan det altså da renne ned på clutchen?

    It would be very hard to get grease on the clutch. It is pretty much shielded by two large discs, you know what they are and are much larger than the clutch. Putting grease there would require you to put it on the wrong side of the fork. And even then it would be hard to do. Wouldn't worry too much about that.

      Okey, aha good to know.Still I am cautious.
      The sound resently started to come back so did regrease it again, this time using a bit more grease, spraying with a small hose just the part that makes the most sound. Now it's quiet again.. :-)

    when you pushed the release lever by hand you pushed it the wrong direction. Doubt you could move it the correct direction with your hand.

    There is a hole on the rubber dust boot for greasing. removing this boot is not necessary.

    • @jessjohn6157
      @jessjohn6157 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peach Fuzz so what you just use a grease gun and squirt greese down there?

    • @peachfuzz5053
      @peachfuzz5053 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Toyota has a specific SST (Special Service Tool) that is meant just for doing that. The needle can be removed and replaced with a different shaped needle for squirting grease into the tiny hole on a brand new water pump as well.

      Nej, inga problem att växla. Visst kan jag få koppla ur ibland för att få i backen, men det ser jag som normalt. Har jag fått göra på flera bilar.
      Jag körde inte så länge med gnisslet innan jag åtgärda.
