When people normally encounter ghosts (up to you if you believe ghosts) their electronics spaz out and normally glitch out. That might be the inspiration for the ghost glitch effects in games.
some companies do it to add to the creepiness! like in soma, they wanted to prevent the player getting a good look at the monsters so they made the screen glitch out. i agree though, it can be kinda cheesy if its not done right

Imagine encountering something in real life that imposes computer glitches onto *your perception of reality*. Now stop imagining that because you should sleep at night without worrying about that kinda shit.

It's not the creepiest one ever, and I think you've ever covered it before, but I've always loved the Mt. Gordo Ghost from GTA5. This was a fun list. I love spooky easter eggs.

The woman in the Ouija Board room in Layers of Fear is a reference to the Silent Hill Game Guillermo Del Toro was going to make. I'm almost positive its the same woman you encounter when you reach the end of the demo.
i know this vid is a year old from now on but i wanted to say something abt the hair growing doll in the game fatal frame. that is an actual doll and her name is Okiku. it was owned by a small girl named Kikuko in, if i remember correctly, the early 1900's. she loved this particular doll very much. she got very ill and then died later. okiku's original hair was a bob cut. after the girl died its hair started growing unevenly. if i remember correctly, the girl's parents tried to cut the dolls hair to its original length but it would just grow back again. over and over and over. i think later on the parents moved out of their house and left the doll behind or gave it away to a museum sort of place, im not sure i forgot. its said that the doll is still very much growing hair. i know i know im really late to this but i just wanted to say this idk why.
Actually about the Red Dead Redemption two things he's actually confirmed to be the Grim Reaper because you can meet a guy who talks about him and describe them as the reaper himself only that but coupled with the fact that he knows when and where John is going to die makes it seem pretty clear that he's death
I wounder when you play as Arthur in the beginning if you meet the death guy before he dies. I wounder if you can see the guy more often when you get closer to Arthurs death.
Heyo that Easter egg in Roller Coaster World is legitimately creepy! Often the creepy Easter eggs are most spooky than scary, but that one it pretty horrifying! Just imagine decoding this as a younger person back in the day!!

There should be an Easter egg that devs record the whole backwards dialog where they spoil the whole game in the fist act without saying spoiler first. That way, early Easter egg hunters who try to publish really early Easter eggs gets the game spoiled for them before they can beat it.
