hey, just wanna say that the INFRA dev just shared this video with us, we like it when INFRA gets mentioned, probably since we view it as lesser know game XP
A special thank you goes out to Steven Hunt, the Indie Developer behind the video game Ping! Thank You Steven for helping me reach your creepy Easter Egg and for being apart of this video. Say Hi to Steven Hunt on Twitter - twitter.com/ninjinister
A friend of mine got me infra and we played it together. When we first saw the Easter egg we had no idea about the lore there and didn’t expect the creepiness that followed. Honestly I really recommend it for people who haven’t played it. Was lovely to see it mentioned in one of your videos.
The two Layers of Fear scenes are actually part of a larger set! There's a mini-story accessible via that room (not sure if it's there anymore, but it was available a few Halloweens ago) that has you collecting pages of a children's book that tells the tale of a group of kids who invoke the monster in the "GAME" scene. Each child gets to make a wish, but each is granted in the worst possible way. The "PORCELAIN" scene is a girl who wished she could be "pretty like a porcelain doll"... so the monster turned her into a doll outright.
The Infra one really scared me because I had no idea where that code came from. Google searches don't answer that. The wiki for the game doesn't know. I had to comb through dozens of Reddit threads to learn that the code for the door is on a tombstone in a later part of the game. It was like the code just existed but no one knew why.
Absolutely adore your content! Also talking about creepy Easter eggs, there's one in the demo of the still WIP Indie reverse horror game Black Resin. All you have to do is wait on the main menu screen a little bit. Edit: Forgot to mention that the easter egg for Black Resin seems to only be found in the 1.14 version, not the 1.12 version
@@gagoogasv1064 the scariest part is that nobody knows where this image came from. There was a full on investigation about it , i can't remember if it was in a yt channel or on reddit, but they wheren't able to find any clue about this pic..
@@mechanicalbutterflies6302 yeah that's the scariest part and every night before i sleep that images always appear in my head before sleep and it's terrified me
Funny enough, I encountered the Ultrakill easter egg when I first played the game. Luckily, I was acquainted to horror, but it left me more confused than anything lol.
My friends think I'm desensitized because I can play things like Phasmophobia without much difficulty but the hallway scene from INFRA made me really consider quitting the game there and then. My flashlight wasn't working and the nightmare was building up too much for me to handle. The devs can rest assured they made it scary enough.
The Ultrakill secret level is also in the demo of the game which confused me as heck when I was trying it out before I knew anything else about the game.
I mean, that makes for a nice little creepypasta but here in real life, nothing gets programmed into a video game without a developer's work. They can possibly forget they did it some years down the line, but you could never have an easter egg in a game that none of the devs programmed themselves...
I believe the Easter egg that said something like "sometimes God takes mommies and puppies away but sometimes, sometimes... I do" that was forgotten about
OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT. Okay, so, I just came to an interesting conclusion once I saw that first Halloween Easter Egg for Layers of Fear. If you didn't see it or just want a recap, this Cthulu-esk bust rises out of the ground and the screen turns colours and stuff. Funnily enough, this one single easter egg makes the game have such a deeper meaning and explains so much. You might be thinking that the Cthulu Easter Egg was just that, an Easter Egg, but I can assure you that its not. As stated in the Call of Cthulu written by HP Lovecraft, Cthulu enters the dreams of artistically-minded people and gives them vision of Rhy'lea, eventually driving them insane. The Main Character of Layers of Fear is a painter who is shown to be slipping into insanity throughout the game. My theory is that the main character has been influenced by Cthulu itself and has been given visions of Rhy'lea, causing him to go insane and cause the plot of the game. Also please note that I've never actually played Layers of Fear before and that I've only seen playthroughs of it some years back; this is just a theory I made due to my knowledge of Cosmic Horror
Woah! Really wanna check any last update of my own before sleeping, but hey, here we are, spooky one :D! Just to be sure, I'll get some good rest this night and I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks for the upload, James! :)
Gotta say, I love these types of videos. Im a sucker for all things horror. I especially appreciate the boogeyman Easter egg. Definitely gotta check that game out
Great video once again! Always happy to see these pop up. Hey does anybody know which game (or video) the talking controller in the intro is from? I either forgot or missed that video.
It reminded me of the slit mouth woman, and I know that got film adaptions, they might be using a screenshot from one of those maybe? I could be wrong of course considering that that Hong Kong 97 supposedly used a real corpse on it's game over screen
@@JargonMadjin You could be right as well. As I stated, it was theories/rumours (seen it pop up in a couple or so videos regarding urban legends and stuff), so it's most likely not true. But it is an interesting topic to cover.
Nothing could be more true than an internet rumor. I mean, who would go and make something up and post it on the internet? 😏 I do admit, though, that it would be pretty cool if true
