Honestly, no one was going to go back to the closed bank and check the vault. I mean how does a call rep even issue such action. It would definitely take a higher up with that kind of access and desire to double-check to do something like that.

I can't believe a bank employee actually told that woman, "Maybe you came in to get your safe deposit box (and don't remember)? That person needs to be fired!
The "happy ending" is a bunch of bullshit that her box was just "left behind". The staff was caught red-handed is all. Whoever was involved in that racket must be fired!

Such is a very common tactic today, not just with the elderly. It's so common I'm wondering if this isn't taught by Management... deflect and redirect. Rather than address the problem, they dismiss a person, sending them away questioning theirself. Said person then invests hours, if not days trying to address the matter, exhausting every possible option. 21st Century Customer Service... provide as little as possible and put all on the customer, with a Convenience fee.

🌅THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God is saving man from the imminent destruction of this old world"
(Praise has come to Zion and the dwelling place of God has appeared. The glorious holy name, praised by all peoples, is spreading. Ah, Almighty God! The ruler of the universe, the Christ of the last days--He is the rising Sun that shone on Mount Zion, ruling in majesty and splendor over the whole universe ... We call to Thee in joy; we dance and sing. You have created a group of overcomers, and You have fulfilled the plan of God's rule. All the towns will be on this mountain. The fountain of life flows from the throne, watering and feeding the many people of God. His words continue to be revealed, revealed to the right people. We meditate carefully on God's word, our heart rests peacefully in God, and in this way we face God's presence, where we receive His light. Every day, in our lives, actions, words, thoughts, and ideas, we live according to the word of God, able to recognize at all times the word of God guides the thread into the needle; unexpectedly, the things hidden in our will are exposed to the light, whenone after the other. Every moment we live before the throne of Christ where we are subject to judgment. Satan remains in control of every part within our body. Now, in order to regain God's supreme power, His temple must be cleansed. To be fully claimed by God, we must struggle between life and death. That is a crock. If a relative had access to the box and went into the box, they would have had to sign a document to gain entrance to the box section to retrieve and open the box. There would be a dated record of such person and a video camera(s) somewhere in that bank recording the entire transaction..and recording that person entering and leaving the safe deposit box section. When a bank has clients address, e-mail and phone number, the bank do not use them to contact the client and make an appointment to close the deal. There is no responsibility. I would never ever store my belonging in a bank, except for digital account with issued debit card. And I take no loans.

While I want to say, good man for stepping up. The Bank tried to dismiss respondsibility with the statement pertaining to multiple people having access. Per their statement, it was left behind. So, it was the only one? No Bank Employee was tasked to confirm every box had been removed? Did they bother to open the door to every box in the vault? Or, were they keeping a stash of boxes, and she made enough noise, they decided it wasn't worth the hastle? Little about the Banks side of this story makes sense, it was either wilfull lack of adherence to basic safety protocols associated with the transport of Securities, or it was attempted theft.

The majority of thefts or break-ins are committed or orchestrated by someone the victim knows personally. This makes no sense that the box was left behind. I work in banking with boxes and was involved in moving boxes to a new location years ago. It entailed many people and armored transport to do it. The entire "nest" of boxes is moved, not individual boxes. Two keys are always required to access, so you can not open and move boxes. When notified by the bank of a move, you should ALWAYS take your contents out and replace them once the move is done. Where I work currently, we have about a dozen box contents that were never claimed from the closure of our location. We never moved our boxes and required customers to come get their belongings and re-rent at other locations. Every box was checked (always in dual custody) and verified empty before we left the location. It's crazy that happened....bad banking protocol for sure!!! Glad it was found for her!!

Finally it occurred to me I was spending a lot of money each year and spending my time driving over to my branch .. I looked into getting my own safe at home .. I researched them and found one that was not only fire proof but that weighed over 500 pounds .. I didn't buy a cheap safe you see at department stores . I shopped at a safe store which also sold hunting rifles , it was a hybrid gun safe and fire proof security safe , which has 6 high quality solid steel locking bolts and quality combination lock .. it cost me over a $1,000 but originally sold for $1,500 , plus I had to pay to have it moved into my home .. But I did the math and I had spent much more renting the safety deposit box at my bank over the years .. I love the fact that it is hidden in my home and can be accessed anytime I need to ..

They looked at all the owners of each safe deposit box on paper and selected the ones who were elderly, hoping they had died or become too senile to remember. The bank "transition" provided the perfect cover to "forget" those boxes at the old branch, wait for a period of "clearance," and then take possession of those boxes themselves.
An honest investigator needs to check that bank and see how many more boxes are "missing" and notify the next of kin.

I’ve been hearing this lately with “safety deposit boxes”? One idea: put a note in there: “Do not touch! If you’re reading this I do not want you to touch this box! I didn’t authorize any move etc!”
