Correct me if I am wrong but if the meaning of the word can be identified during speech from context of the sentence then the same can be done in text. Otherwise it would not be possible to understand what other person is talking about so writing without Kanji should be theoretically possible.
But it sounds casual... Sino Japanese words r more formal... N Japanese love formal things.... U can't even using word "you", if you're not careful, u'll sound rude ..

I am not an expert in Japanese but I feel some Sino-Japanese words are unnecessary, I feel some of them are some kind of forced sinification of Japanese which only ends up creating overwhelming amounts of homophones. For example, why using 高価 when you can perfectly say 値段が高い. That way you remove ambiguity and possible confusion.
In a conversation between amateurs or to children, "値段が高い" makes perfect sense, but writing professional papers for example, that word choice would sound childish also taking more time to get to the point in a complex text. Basically kanji is not just a phonetic letter. So, basically you get the meaning as a whole. English is composed by alphabet letters, but someone proficient in it, don't seek letter by letter, but see the word as a whole as well.
@@ijansk For the language itself I wouldn’t say it’s a problem since it is usually pretty clear to a listener which meaning is in use because of the context. And I would say ambiguity in languages(at least for human) is not a bad thing. A lot of humor, as well as other cultural phenomenon, depends on it.
@@よっしー-q8w6t That is a subjective perception of the value of a word and not a universal truth about them. Not all words need to have a "fancy" version, especially if you end up having words with the same pronunciation as is the case with Japanese.

日本語の漢字は便利ですね。
limnology という単語はラテン語源の難しい単語で、恐らく英米人でも知らない人は多いと思います。ところが日本語の意味は「湖沼学」。これだと日本の小学生でも「湖や沼を研究する学問か!」とわかりますね。
これをひらがなで「こしょうがく」と表記したら、何のことか理解しづらいでしょう😃
最後発音する際に全部同じイントネーションで発音されていますが、実際は「高架」と「降下」はイントネーションがほかとは異なります。

Redundancy in meanings exists in many languages, in some contexts, the former wording would make more sense
