Chris Stapleton is one of those rare human beings who is an empath. He’s able to pick up and absorb the emotions of people around him and feel what they’re feeling. That he’s able to translate those emotions into music is truly a once in a generation phenomenon.
Country music was never my thing, though I thoroughly enjoyed the outlaw wing of the genre. But that was a long time ago and, with a few exceptions, country was as lost as pop music - vapid and formulaic. But Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell are making some unbelievable music, reviving something that had died long ago.

Hey I was at his last concert in Corpus Christi the day before he canceled the rest of his tour bc of covid. Next concert was the following night in Austin... so glad I opted for Corpus!! We were front row!!
The live CMA awards version is 10x better than the studio cut. You can just see his face and it rips your heart out. His live performances are awesome.
