    If you have any underlying disease like hypertension, and have a heart attack or a stroke, it's a waste of money, as you won't be covered.

    • @markg3650
      @markg3650 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very true, I’m 55 and have hypertension. I got quoted 98,000b by pacific cross for the initial year (it will go up every year with age) for a policy that excludes any cardiovascular related problems. What use is that to me if I have a heart attack or stroke and survive? Dropping dead with a heart attack or stroke isn’t a problem, the problem arises if I survive and wake up to a hospital bill of potentially millions of baht. Leaves me with no alternative but head back to my home country before I get much older.

    Another one very few people realise about is your Home insurance while you're away. If you live alone and leave your home unoccupied for more than 60 days and something happened, eg, a fire or a flood, or a break-in, your insurance is unlikely to cover it. Some will cover 90 days but you pay a much higher premium and excess. It's just another way insurances get out of paying. Check the small print guys. Even your car may not be covered if you're away more than 60 days. Check, check and check again.

    The problem with insuring folks with pre-medical conditions, but not covering the costs related to these conditions, is that most illnesses, one can argue, are related to these pre-existing conditions.
    For example Diabetes: can be the cause of many eye problems, heart failure, cancer, stroke, and blood flow /amputations etc.,

      This is absolutely the number 1 issue with all these insurance policies and companies. You pay a massive premium for...what? EVERYTHING you are already suffering with is not covered. Take diabetes for example - the world is absolutely full of sufferers, but the condition is being managed with lifestyle and dietary changes and medication. That's not good enough for the insurance companies, though. Bang! excluded...also kidney failure (associated), heart attack (associated) etc etc. You end up with expensive 'cover' that covers nothing.

    Something else to think about with all these insurance companies and policies, and this point should be amplified above all.
    You apply for insurance. maybe you go for a medical and maybe you declare all your pre-existing conditions. The insurance company, fearful of a big claim somewhere down the line , immediately EXCLUDE it all. So you have no cover for your pre-existing conditions. But then they do the premium assessment and ...whoops... your premium is much higher that you thought it would be...because... 'you have all these pre-existing conditions, sir!'
    Double whammy. The insurance companies want it both ways, have the cake AND eat it.
    Either rule out the pre-existing and give a much, much lower policy cost (because you ain't covering anything), OR, charge the high premium and cover it all. You cant have both, and yet, this is the insurance rip-off being peddled in Thailand every day of the week. Older expats paying a hefty and unrealistic premium for zero cover on the things they may or may not need at some point in the future.
    The insurance companies dont want guesswork or taking a chance on things that may or may not happen. They want a cast iron guarantee of profits, and people
    taking a policy under those arrangements are buying into the scam.
    Sorry, but it had to be said, and they are all the same and all doing it.

    Glad to hear they ditched Allianz. I got COVID in early 2022 and had to report to a hospital due to the laws back then and Allianz found a technicality in the situation to avoid covering me. I had to pay the 190,000 thb bill on my own to leave the hospital after 10 days and I never had symptoms. Nana and team frantically tried to help out but ultimately Allianz left me out in the cold stuck with the bill. I think One2Go made a good decision to replace them. Nana put in a valiant effort for me so they definitely have your back if you need help! Highly recommend!
