A winter ride up and down the Devil's Staircase in Wales

- This captures a little bit of a ride near Llandovery on a road known as the Devil's Staircase.
As you'll see, I was mostly lost but enjoyed the leisurely ride, despite slippery road conditions. If I go again I'll follow a planned route or go with experienced locals then perhaps incorporate the Elan Valley.
I removed the screen from the bike and bungee strapped it to the back seat to improve the view. In future I'll use a bracket on the front of the bike to give an uninterrupted view.

Nice vid, thanks! Some great slow speed control and a fab U-turn! 😊
Thank you, Nigel! I’m honoured. I know some top class riders and am always quite humble about my own meagre skills. Enjoy your rides!
I did it for the first time last year amazing roads and outstanding views will definitely be returning soon.
Thanks for sharing safe travels
Thank you! You too! Maybe see you up there later in the year…
Subscribed your channel been staircase alot last year and North Wales lake bala love it
Thanks for subscribing! I might do Bala at the weekend - good shout. Enjoy your rides.
As a Welsh bugger born and bread I love what amazing scenery we have on our doorstep, and as a biker myself it amazes me more knowing we have fantastic roads for it too. Hoping to head up there at some point this year with a few lads from work, and ofc have to put a stop in at the Owls Nest too xD
Great idea! Just make sure The Owl’s Nest is open! Wales has some of the best roads so you’re lucky to be close to them… enjoy your rides.
You rode it at the best time of year. Ride it in summer and be amazed how much traffic there is. Until 3 or 4 years ago very few people knew of the irfon valley road and the devils staircase. How it has changed.
There was just one car - a Royal Mail van - on the fun bit of the road. I’ll go back in the Spring or Summer. It’s such a good road! Thanks for your comment.
This is on my to-do list this year 😂 this is the first time I've ever seen someone take the screen off for a better view mate 😂😂😂
It was a bit extreme but the footage I’d taken in the past was really rubbish because of the big Givi touring screen and - when I was abroad - the toll road tag. Thanks for your comment!
In this slippery roads , light is right . Maybe with T7 or Transalp etc would be better for you . Tyres are so important in this bad conditions
I’m sure you’re right. Unfortunately it’s the only bike I have. You’re right about tyres - and tyre pressures, too! Thanks for your comment. I’ll add a Transalp to my fantasy shopping list! Take care.
I wish I could figure out where you were in Wales. SatNav only says, "Driving on Road." Not much help, I'm afraid. Reminds me a bit of Hardknot Pass in the UK Lake District. And what WAS she doing out there in the middle of nowhere?!!
I can reconstruct the route from my satnav, I reckon, if you’re really keen on knowing? 😊
Hi mate, hoping to ride this next week, what was your starting point on google maps? Great vid 👍
@@Kevg777 the interesting bit is from maps.app.goo.gl/eASjuXEHrFhtL4iL8 onwards (taking the left turn at that junction) but once you're at that location, you can't really go wrong! Consider the Elan Valley, too, if you're up there. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your ride 🙂

I’ve put the coordinates in the Garmin and it’s ready to go, cheers mate 👍
👌👌👌👍👆
Thanks for leaving a thumbs up!
What is the make of your heated jacket and gloves please?
Keis G701 gloves. Keis J501RP jacket. I can’t recommend them highly enough. I can ride in all weather, nowadays… thanks for your question!
