Excellent explanation using your latigo as the example. People try to explain this using the actual stirrup leathers which is almost impossible to do bc the fenders are in the way. One hangup for me tho: you say "sometimes" you might have to take your Blevins buckle and turn it around. Don't you always have to do that? Isn't that the twist we're talking about? Yes, you can twist the blevins end to create that pinch in the leather and then wrap it, but that's not what twists the stirrups. All that does is get the leather at the buckle end out of the way to some extent. It's turning the blevins prong-end over and inserting it in to the stirrup leather from the other side that creates the twist in the stirrups. That's what you demonstrated with your latigo.
