@@dianeclarke2618 that's so awesome! Love hearing that. It's funny how a frantic moment of running around in the dark can bring a wave of relaxation to someone else 😉
Hey thanks for watching, Erika! I just used the copyright free music on TH-cam after tons of searching and I use Final Cut Pro to edit. I'm glad you liked the photos and video 😁
Awesome Video. I’m planning a trip to Rae Lakes Loop later this year. Hopefully, the bridge is back. What camera and lens were you using for your stills? They looked great.
Hi Leo. I'm glad you liked the photos! I used a Lumix G7 with the 14-140 mm f/3.5-5.6. I love that lens because it gives me such a wide focal range especially on micro 4/3. I hope they get that bridge back up too.. I couldn't believe it when I heard it got destroyed. It seemed so solid when I had gone over it in years past.
cool video! little things like your labels really make for a nice viewing experience, love how you point to exactly what the label describes. awesome scenes throughout// going over Kearsarge for the second time this summer and i cant get enough videos in the meantime thanks for taking us with you// what restaurant was that ? i dont recognize it looks worth trying
Thanks for the awesome comment! It's a lot of extra work so it makes me happy to hear someone appreciated it 👍 the restaurant at the end is the Mt Whitney Restaurant in Lone Pine on Whitney Portal Rd and the 395. I highly recommend the Alabama Hills Cafe for breakfast if you're around there in the morning 😉 I'm looking forward to doing some trips this summer although it's looking like possibly a shorter season with all the snow. Thanks again for commenting. Hope you stick around for future videos! Happy trails 🤠
i subscribed so yeah/ and Thanks! we do 395 , the Sierras and Death Valley a few times every summer so we will definitely be checking out the restaurant thanks so much. Good point about the snow, our permit is for july 14 i hope it is mostly melted by then
@@potatothorn there was one fatality of a solo PCT hiker near Mather Pass in mid July of 2017 (heavy snow year) due to a high creek crossing. Just remember if you have any sketchy creek crossings, water is lower in the morning before snow really starts melting, try going up or down stream to find a better crossing, don't cross solo (tripoding with 3 ppl is good), and don't be afraid to scoot on your behind on logs 👍 I love Death Valley.. went last year for the first time in February. It was great! I really want to go back soon.
These videos are fantastic, you're hitting a bunch of my favorite spots and places I intend to go and it's getting me all excited! Thanks, keep up the great work!
Loved the video man! Damn, i need to get back out with you again bro. and YES, i had Whitney cafe after climbing Whitney and it was the best thing EVER.
Hahaha! They say, "hunger is the best sauce," but I think backpacking for more than 3 days is! 🤤 This trip definitely brought back some great memories when we did the Rae Lakes Loop together 5 years ago. Crazy it's even been that long.
Thank you so much, Tiffany!! It's a such a great place. I also did the Rae Lakes Loop a few years back and it's a beautiful route too. You're going to love it 👍
I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you so much. Hoping to get more videos up soon. It was mostly shot on a Lumix G7. There's a few shots from my cell phone which is a Samsung Note 8.
Awesome!! Great video. I need to do this trip! I probably won't do 2 passes in one day, though. I knew that was Mt. Whitney Cafe as soon as I saw the shake. lol Cool shirt!
Haha! Really felt like a burger and a shake after this one! 🍔🍧 Thanks for watching! Kearsarge Lakes and Charlotte Lake both looked like great places to camp but we blew by them. I think lots of people do that in between Kearsarge and Glen. And thanks for the compliment on the shirt. It's super lightweight, breathable material. I could wear it with the sleeves down even in the hot sun. Best hiking shirt I've ever worn!
LOL, That is some type 2 fun right there. The passes look like type 3 fun though. I had that happen to me once. We did a 16 mile round trip of Holy Jim Trail to Santiago peak and ran out of water at the summit. No water all the way back. still not fun to talk about. FYI, the Painted Lady photograph is quite stunning. That would look nice @ 24x36. Excellent work Jon.
Thank you, Bruce! Your Santiago Peak hike definitely sounds like Type 3! That's what I love about the Sierras vs down here: the abundance of water (most of the time). This was Type 2 all the way.. we've had some laughs about some of the more challenging aspects of this trip already. Thank you for the compliment on my image. I can't wait to start making some prints! 🙌
Nice video. Makes me want to get right back out there. I was hiking in the Mammoth area, never getting further south than MTR, from Sepetember 1 through September 18. When were you out there? I dealt with the worst wind I have ever experienced while backpacking on the night of Septmber 11/12 in Granite Park. No. Sleep. At. All.
Ehh that sucks. I was at the Rae Lakes toward the end of August. We had very little wind at night thankfully. The worst is when you're laying in your tent at night and hear the wind coming towards you down granite and through trees. You can almost visualize its movement like sonar! Feel your pain. I'm headed out this weekend. Expecting some winds, hopefully not bad 🤞 And thanks for the nice comment and watching my video!! Besides the night of Sept 11th, hope you had a nice trip.
Awesome video buddy, subscribed! Did you take the overnight permit in Lone Pine (InterAgency visitor center) or are the permits self-issued at the trailhead in Onion Valley? Thank you and keep it up, great job!!!
Thank you so much!! We did pick up our walk-up permits at the interagency visitor center in Lone Pine. It's a pretty popular hike. Glad you liked the video. Looking forward to making more!
Loved it! Photography is outstanding...liked your commentary too...down to earth no nonsense descriptions. More please!
Yay! Thank you. I need the encouragement haha. Appreciate that!
Picture of Painted Lady I sighed out loud.....sooooo beautiful!

Awesome video and sweet shots! Can’t wait to get out in those sierras
Thanks so much for the comment! I can't wait either. Maybe I'll see you up there 👍
awesome trail and views! ❣
Thanks so much for watching! 🙏
Nie video of a fun hike. The way back is tougher I think.
I think you're right! Although the thought of a cheeseburger is extremely motivating. Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful pictures and fantastic video! Where do you get your music and what do you use to edit your videos?

Awesome video. Did Rae lakes loop from Roads end in 2015. Spectacular trip. Loved your photography!!
Thank you, Loran! I did the Loop in 2012. Loved it.. such a great hike. Glad you liked the photography too. Appreciate the nice comment 😁

excellent tips thanks, we will be careful for sure.
Great job shooting and editing. The views helped but you got some skills. The chipmunk was cool too.
Thanks so much! I'm always trying to learn new things. Looking forward to making better videos in the future!
