Some freinldly advice for anybody headed out to do these climbs: 1x1 gearing is gonna make it a lot more fun. Think 50x34 chainrings with 11-34 cassette, so 34/34 = 1x1. Also, it can get super windy, so the descents are gonna be more fun with shallow rims and a tight fitting jacket/jersey. In my opinion, Horsheshoe feels harder than Onion Valley. Great video!!!
Love this Kev! I was going to ask midway how you handled the weather variations, but I got my answer to how wild it was at the end... that hill climbing looked massive... as for Manzanar, I’ve driven by it racing my way to Mammoth (or racing to get back home lol), is it always open to the public??
Also it would be great to have stats on the climbs like the col collective. I’d love to know gearing thoughts, how you feel at different stages of the climb, sitting vs standing on each, temperature
Joel Berman I’d love to be as good as the col collective. On that ride is was in the 80’s on the valley floor and in the 40’s at the top of the the climbs, and was snowing at night on Mt. Whitney. I rode a 52/36 mid-compact which was nice for climbing but not so good for descending.
looks interesting until you read someone won a climbing race on one of the hardest climbs in california, on a recumbent, cruzbike.com/blogs/blog/race-report-jason-perez-s-2016-california-triple-crown-victory , so this looks like a child play.
In "Concentration camps" millions were tortured and gassed. Interment Camps 100s of thousands lived and were not abused and had normal lives relative to their interment. It is completely disrespectful to the millions who were murdered to compare Manzanar and other interment camps to a Nazi Concentration Camp. Yes it did suck for the Japanese interned in these camps but comparing these camps to a true concentration camp has be be one of the worse comparisons out there! I have been to true Concentration camps and Manzanar and they have two completely different outcomes. Your comparison is a bottom feeders tactic to make yourself feel superior and an excuse to rewrite history. Next time just stick to the topic of cycling because that is why people come to your channel anyway!

Google Mix Canyon Road cycling. It is demanding but you can challenge yourself if you are already an intermediate cyclist.
