It Sure is!! The entire hike from The Bishop Pass Trailhead to Bishop Pass is absolutely amazing, especially once the Aspens start turning yellow and Orange.
Kearsarge was my first backpacking trip in I think 1977 or 78 give or take a year. Look forward to following this trip of yours. I love the High Sierra.
I did this back in '79 when I was 14. We camped at the lake just before the pass and in the morning I was determined to be the first one up on the pass :P It was mid-July and very deep snow all the way up the pass. 10 days and 54 mile loop. Most awesome thing I have done in my life. I am now 54 and disabled but it is calling me back!!
Been waiting for this one to come out. I know it must be a lot of work editing. I was reading Poppin's blog in the meantime which is very enjoyable to read. Bet you two have all your gear dialed- in long ago. I still have to go out on some trips to dial my new gear in. That sign is so cool at 6:08 :p
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing another awesome video. Your Sony camera performed extremely well. The Eastern Sierras has some of the most picturesque areas in the world. You take care out there. The very best of good health and safety to you. 🤗
love this area - in fact so much Roxana and i are going back over Kearsarge for our second trip, we have permits for July.... we won't make it nearly as far as you though, we're just going for a few nights. What is the date on this?? cant tell if it is spring or fall but im guessing it is not summer because wow there are no people!! that area is a madhouse in summer, i think i saw one other person in this vid and that's it.. Super! ... you know i Love that you show that little sign about leaving no trace, thanks... glad they remind people to pack out the TP (it always ends up on the trail no matter how deep it is buried) and to rinse off before going swimming... ive had to Not swim because i realized i had just put on bug spray... those little lakes can be polluted very quickly... AWESOME you all got to take it slow and really enjoy the scenery this time around. great campsite, we might have to try and score that one... looking forward to the rest of the series!
Hi, Your videos of trips in the Sierra are very interesting to me because I visited many of the same remote basins and crossed the same foot paths back in the 1960s when I was younger. One difference between backpacking now and how it was then is the amount of people you now meet on the trail and at campsites. I wondered how you do the trail footage where you walk to or away from the camera when you are alone. You must spend a lot of time back-tracking to set or pickup your camera setup. Your films are really good chronicles of your trips.
Yay! What a great surprise to see a new adventure up! Nice to see Poppins again too :) I’m glad you two got to enjoy it together. Im so excited there are more videos to look forward too! Thank you!!
Kearsarge is one of my favs - brought back good memories of overnights. Really am enjoying your videos, and loved your PCT series. Keep up the good work! The smiles at the top are genuine!
When did you do this hike? The boulder that you show just after you mentioned Gilbert Lake is where I pitched my tent when I came back in Sept 2017 to finish the JMT for my 68th birthday. I started late in the day and figured that I needed an acclimation stop (plus, I hike very very slowly.) I camped the 2nd night at Kearsarge Lakes. Happy Trails.
Good for you Linda!! I will be 54 in 2020 and have been recovering from a central nervous system injury these past 4 years. I want so badly to do this hike again like I did as a kid. You give me hope!!
Yay! The SHR. Yes, in 2017 I think you had to go through it faster than you may have liked. (That's just my impression. 😊). Looks like fantastic weather again.
Wasn’t expecting a new adventure so soon. Bet it felt great to be back! I’m very much looking forward to the rest of this series! Such a majestic area, words & photos hardly do it justice. Take care brother.
@@HurlgoatHiker i live in California, I spend a lot of time peak bagging in the Sierra Nevada but never hike long distances at a time like SHR. You lucky man to get to do it twice. But thank you for sharing, it's a ton of work and I salute you sir for doing it!
@@editz26smithoni69 Mile for Mile, The Sierra High Route is about as good as it gets and as tough as it was I think i'd do it yet again! Happy Hiking My Friend,
Great time of the year. Sounds like this winter the snow is as heavily as two years ago. Just announced today that the high Sierra camps won’t open this year
Been waiting for this while you were still releasing the PCT videos . After 10 days during the PCT wasn't enough so you come back for 30 days. The first time ,10 days of food wasn't enough , so how much are you carrying. After waiting so long I am know more curious about your move across Canada to Vancouver Island , now roughly 400 miles from me, yeah. If you are planning to release on Wednesday , I'll miss the next one cause of you . After your 35 days here you showed me what I missed here so 2 days after my 67 bd which is the 15 I will be going to Packwood to fish and also try to make it to Elk Pass on the PCT if their isn't too much snow in the G.R. Thank you brother.
Great Video. When was this? I was there part of my Nobo JMT September 2018. Tough fishing for me at Kersarge Lakes. But great at Bullfrog. Posted vids on my channel about fishing the JMT. Best lures were the super duper & kastmaster. Another great video thanks.
@@HurlgoatHiker Wow. Was there on the 12th. Dam. Would have loved to run into you guys. No shit it was Your JMT through hike that was a kick in my but to do it. I couldn't get the lottery so had to go Nobo.

What part of the kearsage lakes did you fish that first night?
The farthest one, but I've had luck in all of them.
