Theres a video somewhere of him dropping his kids off at the airport. With no context, youd have no clue that he plays for one of the biggest rock bands on earth. Theres no massive security escort or anything. Hes just a normal guy
To think about how lightning pus…. Sorry, thundercat started his career as a sorta metal bassist who wasn’t allowed to slap and is currently one of the best known funk (?) bassist who still won’t slap (most of the time)
What I like best is that is a man who once seemed to me like and angry, defiant youth whose now a proud and loving father enjoying the opportunity to play with his son onstage.
First concert I ever went too, 1994 my senior yr, a bunch of us walked out of school halfway through 5th period and hopped in a rented u-haul box truck and went to see Metallica/suicidal tendencies/Danzig in concert..
@davidbristow9144 yup same. I was living in Ottawa at the time, and me and 3 friends went to that show, and walked back to town as it was all but impossible to get a cab to the park lol. Great show!
I knew Tye would be going places when he did the stint with Korn and played like a seasoned pro. He clearly has that phat pocket in his genes. Well done, Robert, you're passing the torch and should be proud. 🤘
That's awesome to see them jam together. As far as Robert, getting back with suicidal, you guys know he's making a boatload more money playing with Metallica. As a musician, I completely understand playing where your passion is, but I've stayed with my passion in the past, and I should have taken other avenues to keep revenue coming in so I could've kept playing full-time. So you can't fault him for making a damn good living.
@@blahbruhsikgdesgujgfdvhjvf2804what greed? With him Metallica brought back top quality even Lars started playing better than utter garbage especially after At Anger
This gave me chills. Rob is wasted talent in Metallica. I'm happy for him, but to see him REALLY perform live is something to behold indeed. Infectious Grooves, I'm talking to you too lol
A few more years of making that $$$ will allow him to afford a decent lifestyle in addition to utilizing his talents to their potential. If you had a choice between earning dozens of times more, you would take it too.
@Absaalookemensch Don't take me wrong, I completely understand his position there. It's Metallica. I get it. But they have very obviously and sadly buried the true talent that Rob has.. The man is a BEAST on that bass. Critical, fluent, funky, and full of life. You wouldn't know it anymore, and it's a HUGE disservice to metal fans everywhere. To see him live is a treat. Well... it was.
DUDE Robert's son Tae is playing a Blonde Aria Pro SB1000!! I've always wanted a blonde - Blonde ones were all over the place in '80s alternative bands like Aztec Camera and The Fixx, but I've never seen one in the wild like this, especially a Metal gig!!
I saw Suicidal Tendencies in Palo Alto California at the Varsity Theatre in the mid 80's, then Metallica at the Stone in San Francisco opening for Exodus. Great times man, great times... 😊
Nice, I was there at those shows as well. Slayer, Exodus, Metallica.. Lars going up and down the line outside Wolfgangs handing out Metallica's demo tape before Kill "Em All was released. Yngwie Malmsteen solo show when the lead singer of Rising Force was sick.. Awesome times!
@@trijicog Did you ever catch a local San Francisco band called FANG? They were punk, I saw them at the Farm when it used be on Army St in the Potrero District. Nobody else has ever heard of these guys.
@@MrDeplorable-sw9cz I might have, I honestly don't remember, but the band name sounds familiar. Armored Saint, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Motorhead a few times.. I got 2c Suicidal in a very strange tour lineup. Headlining was a band I hated, Queensryche. That Silent Lucidity video was on mtv every 20min, so they went on a ARENA TOUR. They played a 16,000 seat arena with maybe 2000 ppl. It was resseved seating with rows of chairs on the floor. Suicidal Tendencies was the band that played before QueensRyche & id guess 1500 of the 2000 was there for them. I won tickets off local radio & only went for Suicidal. There 1st song the fans rushed the floor & stomped the 1st 20 rows of chairs on2 the floor. They was fantastic. But I always wondered 1st, who thought a QueensRyche Arena tour was a good idea because they had a hit video & 2nd Who n the hell thought QueensRyche& Suicidal Tendencies would be a great tour package to put on the road
Saw that tour in Greensboro. Couldn’t believe I was getting to see ST in an arena in my town. Blew my 14 year old mind. My older brother wasn’t into them but had a huge smile on his face thru all of Sui’s short set. Queensryche did Mindcrime in full. Forced myself to get into the album in the weeks leading up and must say enjoyed it. But yeah, ST…tough act to follow lol
For some reason I thought they were on after 5FDP (who I wanted to miss), so I showed up late. Between this and Greyson on drums, I'm sad I missed this. (Also sad I had to sit through 5FDP who is... they're not good.)
Does anybody else see how happy Robert seems to be there with his old band? Maybe it's just cuz he's jamming with his kid? But at one point when he wasn't near his kid you could just see the fun that he is having! Because he's getting to actually play some fucking cool bass lines! Your opinion don't mean shit to me and your shit's about to fall, irrational is irrational like bungee jumping off a 6-foot wall!
@davidbristow9144 Yup. Punk it up, is all you need to hear, to know how good he is. You read my mind. I just did "Punk It Up" + "You lie and yo breath stank" to Red Dead Online, action on my other channel. IG, shows Rob's ability better than his other bands like ST and Metallica. Props to you, for knowing why, I posted this. A real bass enthusiast. 👏🏼
I can only imagine how Rob must have felt next to his boy. Both of them playing together in a band Rob was once in? That must have been more than just a proud moment.
Thanks for sharing this. We were in the 400 section, so everyone was really small. I really did not care for the performance that Suicidal Tendencies or Five Finger Death Punch gave. That being said, I was hoping that Tye and his dad Robert would get together there. Of course, Metallica kicked ass as always. Even decades after I first saw them in 1988.
I really hope that Tye will eventually make his own name without his father. His filling in for Suicidal Tendencies seems a little bit weird on its own. But then, it is what it is. (And don't come talk to me about the Korn thing. I knowwww. )
Tye looks so much more mature, and re-did his hair. He looked more like an arrogant long haired adolescent, like he was telling the world "respect me, I'm Robert Trujillo's Son"
Man, if I did that to my son , he'd drop his bass and walk off stage ... wait a minute , that DID happen .... he said that was really really embarrassing . I guess not everyone thinks he same, especially our kids.
I had the privilege of meeting Rob and Tye at a show I was working. Both, especially Rob, are as chill and approachable as one would ever hope.
Yea I gotta love and respect for Rob. He seems like a genuinely nice person, very down to earth, and very passionate about bass. Just like his son.
He seemed pretty back when he played for Suicidal Tendencies in the 80's, those guys always made jokes about themselves being Mexicans. 🤣
