Zlatan never complained about Pep's ego - he complained about his demeanour towards him. BIG difference. He said, and I paraphrase - that Pep never told him clearly what he didn't like about him (as a player) to his face. That was his major complaint. That Pep never explained to him what he wanted him to do, and constantly avoided direct conversation. I don't know how far that's true or not, but that's what Zlatan said. That isn't an issue of ego, it is a breakdown in communication and a lack of basic respect. Zlatan simply wanted to know WHY, it burned him that Pep never said it to his face.

Zlatan never wanted to play in the system that has been played in Barca in all categories for decades! He wanted to come and be a heavy center, anchors, around whom everything revolves, Barca is something completely different, positional play, quick exchange of the ball, constant chattering and use of space! Zlatan expected that Pep will change the perfect philosophy of football because of Zlatan, who is used to the classic Italian tactics from the 90s and early 2000s, because it has been overcome. since Pep didn't want to change everything for him (he's not crazy), Zlatan took it personally - and that's the characteristic of immature people and unprofessionals! End of story!

People bashing on Zlatan need to get their facts straight:
Zlatan is 1 of 28 players in history that have scored 500+ goals, he ranks at 17. Only him, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maravilha and Romário have played in the 21st century.
Only 5 players in history has won more trophies than him.
The man is an absolute legend and he can backup his ego. We are talking about an immensely gifted freak of nature who got better as he AGED.
The problem with Zlatan and Barca was that he had such a huge ego to go to the most difficult club to impose one's will. He tried to be the main man to a club who has the most special style of play, THE most special ethics and traditions and more importantly the most special GOAT in Messi. It was a battle Zlatan was destined to lose. He blames Guardiola for that but Guardiola was just the messenger, no player is bigger than Barca.
At that time Zlatan was the best striker in the world by a mile , had he gone to Real Madrid things would have fine and he would definitely have won some Champions Leagues.
But the fact that he didn't won any does not make him less of a legend. Just check his numbers, his feats and his titles.

Zlatan hates pep because his dream of winning with Barca was squashed by him.
Pep made a dumb decision to sell Eto'o and bring Zlatan , he dislikes pure strikers, when he said he hated Halaand scoring 3 goals, he wasn't joking.
Pep's philosophy places striker as not a star but a player equal to every other team member, prior to Messi-Ronaldo, strikers were usually the most popular and highest paid players in any team., he also dislikes ego heads, Zlatans fits in that bracket very well, he was brought due to his ball playing, dribbling ability, but he was too slow and didn't fit into Barca's play, Messi was made for that role, Zlatan is a target man not a false 9, he was at best Pep's plan B against parked bus, Zlatan wanted to be the star of the team and hated the disciplined approach of Barca players who were dealt like school boys by Pep.

Zlatan leaving Barcelona was a futbolistic decision. He wasnt bad, just didnt adapt fast enough on a very very competitive club so Guardiola ended up didching him. Do you know who ended playing as striker? LIONEL MESSI. Guardiola had to put messi as striker in a match where Zlatan saw the red card, and he played so well that guardiola started using messi as false nine instead of right winger and thus the true ultimate potential of messi exploded, leaving not much space for Zlatan. Messi never gets injuries and having Zlatan as substitute as you can imagine is a waste and maybe even impossible
