GREAT,great attitude "BANGERANG!",.....But start now and very much consider Family "long-term' involvement,.....We've had our "MONSTERS" beginning in 1947/1948,......We're in our "80th" year and the "ORIGINAL" gang,(25 in all) are still more than ALIVE and flourishing,as of now we have roughly 85 or so.Your grand/great-grand kids 'll luv ya' when your long, long into your eternal "dirt-nap".

PrinceWilliam TheFox most definitely! I research as much as I can before investing my life, and my families life, in a new animal. I'm fortunate to have a young son (9) that loves his tortoises as well. He watches +kampkenan religiously along with reading up on the species he loves. I often tell people that I'm raising my future grand children's tortoises!
Thanks for the reply, id love to see your Monsters!

"RESEARCH"!!,...excellent.,...We have a 6"+" acre Oceanfront (heavily vegetated) property in the Keys.My Grandpop/Mom moved there in 1935.There were many INTRUSIONS(sic). We keep to ourselves.I've ONLY been 'turned-on' to YOU-TUBE for 3 or 4 years.,....'firstly' to see vids on rigging, etc.,for fishing. My Mom & Dad (both deceased) brought home a Sulcata tortoise to my Grandpop in 1946/47,(I WASN'T born 'till 1952).Things just went on from there."NOW" my Family (HUGE!!!!!) spends lots of time with the 80(++{they hide}++) torts. It's fun.,.....An awesome initial INVESTMENT by my Grandparents' "RESEARCH",......I'm just the benefactor, and in no way the progenitor.I'm "NO" expert;one Daughter is a DVM/Phd.Her twin sister is also an Md.,Phd.,.....I leave all the vids to the GREAT-ONES=Kamp Kenan/Sam Pascucci.,...They're my gurus/masters of the torts.I'll pop my head out every once in a while when I see a good/GREAT vid.,.......Pascucci/Kenan have made it an "ART",....(a little PS for 'ya.) Just try swimmin' out 400/500 yards chasing an ALDABRA.,.....They "CAN","DO","WILL",....SSSSWWWWIIIIMMMMM,....'specially in a warm(hot) salty, clear Ocean.

Hey Great Video! Could you make a video specifically for seasoned Aldabra owners? More particular on diet? I saw what looked to be alfalfa hay. What are the best bales to get, do you look at the color of the hay, Are there other hay types, do you wet it, do you put mazuri on the bottom, how often do you feed them hay, tricks and tips? I have seen Sam P.'s ads on line for years it was good to put a name to the face :)

A point to add about Sulcata's. Sulcata's need to wear down their shells. I've made places for them to dig, but I limit how far down they can go, and I fill in the holes once or twice a week, so they have to dig it out again. My male Sulcata had some fairly bad pyramiding, and it's starting to wear down, so those scutes that look just as they did when they were babies are polished and almost gone.

Kenan my turtle passed away... :( I'd like to keep his shell. How do I do that? I was told I could use superworms to eat the inner parts but they might destroy the shell, too. I can't just leave him outside to decompose because raccoons will take off with him. My old boss gave me a bearded dragon that wouldn't eat and when he passed away I buried him outside and the raccoons just dug him up and took him. Which I don't mind. They're making use of it at least by eating it, but like I said, I'd like to keep the shell of my turtle so I can't have them coming and taking him....
