These three beautiful giants and Slinky are the main reason I keep coming to this channel. Love it when you talk with them, about them. I am so glad Darwin is doing better. Stay safe🙏🏼🐢🐢🐢
I know there's something to be learned in every video, occasionally cloaked in entertainment! Also it's very gratifying to watch Kenan act immediately at the smallest sign of distress with any of his animals. You have demonstrated this, Kenan, time and again. That is probably one of the most important things to learn from you! Stay safe 🙏 and healthy 🐢🐢🐢🐢 thank you!
I'm so glad you caught that infection before it effected her too much ♡ I admire how you really truly take care of your animals AND you remember each one; not only their name, sex, & where/when you got them... But you remember SO MUCH about their species and their specific needs. Not everyone can have so many animals and remember so much about each one.
Wishing Lady Darwin a speedy recovery, she such a beautiful tortoise. Nostradamus definitely got you back and tried to have a little sulk until you gave him cuddles. Cuddles always wins with Nos 🤗🐢🤗🐢🤗🐢🤗
Great treatment video! I have had to get rid of some dead shell before to expose an abscess to help clean it and heal, not fun but the tortoise recovered 100%. You are 100% correct about how quickly you have to catch turtle and tortoise issues!
What a beautiful tortoise. Nostradamus (?) shell is so round and shiny. Also I didn't know that these giant tortoises could use one of their front feet to help them bite off tough fibrous food without falling over. Always learning something new :D
Love seeing the medical side of things required to responsibly care for your animals. It’s good that people learn all sides of proper husbandry. Your videos are awesome and super interesting. So glad to see your channel growing even faster and happy to see that you’re reaching such a diverse audience.
I love watching them interact with you. When you feed them, they really seem happy. I can't raise a reptile myself, so I watch your videos to learn how it's done. Maybe someday I can get one, who knows?
I don't know if this matters, but I am a sixty-seven year old female, probably not representative of your viewing audience. Age means nothing if you love something, you love it and I love animals, including all herps.
every single time you post your story its an inspiration to so many people out here and I can't thank you enough for allowing us to be part of your journey through this life
I’m so glad she’s ok. Thanks for showing every side of tortoise keeping. I appreciate learning from your experiences. The bond I have with my Hermann’s tortoise is unmeasurable and I see you have the same bond with your giant tortoises.
Not often we get to see how you care for your animals in a medical fashion but when we do, were not disappointed! Very good care of your animals as always, great content, you're a natural at keeping us entertained, keeping us returning for more content. Thanks for all you do Mr H, looking forward to your next video, all the best to Darwin, she will be absolutely fine, thankfully you've caught that early and as we know, with infections, timing is imperative! Good job mate 👍
I don't know if they told you this when giving you instructions on dissolving the antibiotic (reconstitution), but it will help if you first remove 5 mL of air from the antibiotic vial before injecting the 5 mL of sterile water. This helps keep the pressure normal inside of the vial, but if you haven't had any issues then it's not a big deal. Just a tip! I wouldn't do the same (or reverse, rather) with the sterile water since you don't want to introduce non-sterile air to the container. Also I noticed you holding the vial sideways for the camera while drawing up the solution. I recommend holding it upright (upside-down with the syringe underneath) so you get it all.
Kenan! I love your videos and the work you do! I wanted to suggest you DO NOT re-cap needles like that! I'm sure someone else has said this in the comments but I couldn't find one. Needle sticks will happen eventually! I know there isn't a bloodborne communicable disease between torties and us, but you can't be too careful, especially when dealing with something like staph/MRSA. I recapped a needle just like that after giving an alpaca an injection accidentally stuck myself, then got a nasty infection in my finger that had to be drained. What you can do instead is put the cap on a flat surface and scoop it up with the needle! Rock on man!
Tea tree oil (derivative of an Australian tree) on a cotton swab kills SO many types of bacteria, including MRSA. It is an excellent antibacterial application that doesn't break the bank. I hope she perseveres through this issue. You have excellent husbandry skills with all your animals. Thank you for your diligent observance.
I laughed so hard when you did that high pitched voice 😂 I learn so much from your videos, I have a blue tongued skink myself and had a lot of bearded dragons in the past. I would love a tortoise someday but I want to keep it in my garden and I don't own one yet. I hope Darwin feels better soon! I think she already does cause you take such good care of your animals! ❤️ I think you should go on tv, animal planet! 😍
Hey man thanks for these videos, really given me a new outlook on the world of reptiles and nature in general. All the best to the lady a speedy recovery!
Ger well soon Darwin 💕 I know how you feel about caring for your animals. Just had to rescue an animal myself. An opossum had moved in with my colony of cats and got attacked by a dog. Neighbors assumed he was dead b/c he didn't move for 2 days. Got a call today and he was still moving and about to be vulture food. Just sent him off to a wildlife rehab. I'll miss my buddy Patrick though 😢
Another amazing informative video I love how you interact with all your animals Kenan 🤗 It’s beyond me how you remember all there names 🤯 & I love how if there are any illnesses to be delt with big/small your on the ball, Keep up the great work you do 😍 Ime new to your Chanel ( couple months) came by it by chance & now I carn’t stop watching Love love love from the UK 🐢 🤠
Hope she's feeling better! She's so adorable!! My little Russian tortie just had a major abscess surface from under her rt "shoulder" scute--apparently she had it for over a year, before I rescued her! (No smell, no tenderness, no blood or pus--just one day her scute cracked and so did a little bit of the bone below!) She is doing very well--has her ceftaz injections (0.2 mL vs. Darwin's 15 mL!), and daily chlorhex wound flushes and daily silver sulfadiazidine cream applications. The first few injections were a disaster, but we have it down now!
note: I watched this hope the tortoise gets better! I have two tortoises myself and they all have their own personality and I love them, hope she recovers well ❤️ 🙏
I'd be curious if the same treatment we use for an abcessed hoof on a horse would work for this. Same hard keratin shell after all, we take a diaper and fill it with an equal parts mix of epsom salt and ichthammol to form, well a fairly digusting paste to be honest, slap it over the abcess and then make a duct tape bandage to hold it in place. We generally leave it until it falls off.
I love the care you give your pets, dare I say babies but may I make a suggestion, antibiotics usually are a really irritating medication, they really sting and hurt. That's why we administer then intramuscularly.
I love a good giant tortoise video!! They are so beautiful and healthy. I’ll never be mad at a nice loooong video about your big Galops!! (Hint for making it longer!🤣)🐢❤️🐢
Shake it like a Polaroid picture lol That was a lot of medication, but she's a big beautiful lady and I love her ❤ I love all your animals, your beautiful wife and the fun kiddos ❤ Yeah in our crazy country right now there's nothing more soothing, relaxing and fun than watching a Kamp Kenan video 👍 Darwin get better soon, we love ya ❤

Wishing Lady Darwin a speedy recovery, she such a beautiful tortoise. Nostradamus definitely got you back and tried to have a little sulk until you gave him cuddles. Cuddles always wins with Nos 🤗🐢🤗🐢🤗🐢🤗
Eye for an eye, you lifted him and he got you in the tackle box 🤣🤣🤣
man you are one good caretaker, can even see this type of injury
Great treatment video! I have had to get rid of some dead shell before to expose an abscess to help clean it and heal, not fun but the tortoise recovered 100%. You are 100% correct about how quickly you have to catch turtle and tortoise issues!
What a lovely girl! She's so lucky to be cared for so diligently!
The voice change was hilarious 😂🤣😂🤣
What a beautiful tortoise. Nostradamus (?) shell is so round and shiny. Also I didn't know that these giant tortoises could use one of their front feet to help them bite off tough fibrous food without falling over. Always learning something new :D
Small tortoises do it too. I have a Russian Tortoise who does the same thing ;p
I rescued a Sulcata last year. Rocky is 50 pounds and is a hoot to watch! The dogs don’t bother him a bit!

She's so funny with the cactus 🌵. With my dog cream cheese works. After the infection cleared will you seal up the shell?
