I enjoyed the fact that it was all for a dog this time, usually it's for someone's lover and we all know how many times that one's been played out...
Selena it was a gift from his dying wife. So it wasn't all about the dog. He attached some symbol of hope on to it.
It was for his dog, car and honor. So yeah, you were a hitman before and you set aside your past and shit and suddenly these bunch of pricks go into your home kill your dog and even wrecked you with their weapons and stole your car, would you sit down and do nothing? No, you have the power to exact your revenge. It's just a normal reaction if someone does something to you and you have to payback.

I remember when the trailer first came out for John Wick and so many people were saying that it was stupid he was getting revenge for the death of his dog. Not only did I think that made sense to me, but if you’ve seen the movie, you know that the dog meant even more since it was a gift from his dead wife as a way for him to grieve. Crazy knowing how many haters there were for the first movie before giving it a chance and now everybody absolutely loves these movies.

My only problem with this movie is that I didn't pay to go see it when it came out in theaters. I would've gladly payed $10 to see this. This movie is that good.
Ask Morpheus Honestly, just from watching the previews this movie didn't look like it was gonna be any good. Then I saw the trailer a few months after it had came it out and the comment section was flooded with great reviews about this movie.Can't wait for the sequel.

The thing I like the most in this movie (apart from Keanu Reeves killing it as "John Wick") is the whole Continental concept - a society of contract killers, who use gold coins as currency and chill out at an assassin-exclusive hotel. That sounds so freaking badass. I would definitely like a Hitman/Splinter Cell type John Wick game.
The hotel (and especially the concierge) is done so well - the best part of a movie full of good parts

This movie had me grinning throughout. It doesn't try to be deep or complex, it's all about the action. The shootouts and fight scenes are spectacular and Keanu Reeves is at his best here. John Wick is so bad ass he's like Neo and Johnny Utah put together. One of the best action flicks I've seen in a long time and I was never bored.
Agreed. Kick@ss action scenes. A stronger story is welcome (maybe offer more story development with his dog to increase their bond), though this was still a fun time at the movies. A+ for the action.
For the love of God, what is with the Keanu hate? He's a fantastic, underrated actor with real skill who always delivers, even in bad movies (Lake House, anyone?). Man of Tai Chi was over-the-top but absolutely fantastic, and this just looks superb. Even if the story isn't special, the movie still looks like a fantastic action thriller.

He was god awful in Much Ado About Nothing, where his terrible acting was accentuated by the much better actors who were in the film with him. When compared to the real deal, Keanu just doesn't deliver.

They took his car for starters, and killed his dog. Invaded his home, nearly killed him. I dunno, sounds like motive enough to me. Some people would do it just for the dog. Me, I'd do it for any one of these reasons.
Travis From the trailer it looks like he is well known and the kid who asks how much the car is probably a family memeber so there was prepared protection against Wick after they find out who the kid(kid was probably bragging to) ripped off.
Your summary of the trailer is whittled down to the most obvious but also the least important details in the trailer.

I hate when people say just for a dog he did all that? It wasn't just because of the dog, the dog was last connection to his wife who died not to long ago, 3 days precise. And even if it was just because of the dog, so what? Who is anyone to say who and what is more important. I would do the same of it were my cats. I just hope the pit bull he took in the end didn't belong to someone. Other than that I have no complaints.

Finally an action character that can hold a gun semi-realistically, too often do heroes in action movies hold guns in ways that would make the recoil uncontrollable or stupidly inaccurate
The directors made sure of that, they have experience with guns and wanted the actors to be authentic with them or at least look like they knew how to do it.
eh..the only thing is you cant do the things he did in real life aim wise (some parts were just ridiculous) but yeah glad they got at least how to hold it right. idc though still awesome xD.
Watched the film this weekend, enjoyed it very much, straight and to the point, good to see Keanu being a super bad ass once again
Yeah, I was impressed with the accuracy of the gunplay. They even got the suppressors right. Very fun movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. Sure, you could nitpick but the action sequences are great with a super slick, graceful feel to them, the car is badass, and the movie does have a sense of humor about itself. The best part is the story world. New York City is dark, highly polished with tones of grey. The assassins had their own slang ("dinner reservations), code of conduct ("house rules"), and currency ("gold coin"). Watching Keanu navigate his way through that world was a lot of fun. From the cops ("You working again?) to the clean up crew ("it's good to see you again, John"), to Continental Hotel ("sorry about the, uh, disturbance last night, Mr. Wick").

Do you know why i LOVE these films? John Wick, the Equalizer, Taken and so goes on? Because a villain, a powerful, very dangerous, extremely intimidating villain, one of the worst criminals of the world, someone who inspires terror to all, accidentally and unwillingly provoke one of the good guys, who just so happens, are even worst monsters than them.. Weapons of mass destruction, butchers, killers. Assassins, people with no emotion, when they start killing, no hesitation, no remorse. And the ''good'' guy easily and so fast becomes something even more terrible and horrible than them.
This is the most amount of phone calls I've ever seen in a single movie.
Lmao people in the comments saying "over a dog?" yeah right because if someone got a gun and kill the dog your dying wife of cancer gave to you before she died you'll just cry it off, because you know thats the last alive thing you have that reminds you of your wife WHO HAD CANCER btw.

The best action movie I've seen in more than decade or two. They create a whole different world with there own unique characters. So much so that you wish they made a mature TV series or sequel. I hope John Wick makes a cameo or two in other movies. Keanu Reeves really really put a lot work onto this one and it shows, All the other actors who had minor roles were very memorable and amusing. Very well made movie.

I find this movie really interesting, and would definitely watch it. To all of those people who think that the main character's actions are exaggerated, let me say that I had experienced the same pain of losing a dog to a criminal.
It was back in 2012 when some bastards robbed my home. They decided to poison my dog, and best friend who wasn't even half a metre tall and in the back yard. Back then I was in high school, things had gotten rough, and he would be the only one that I trusted to tell my worries to. At first I thought it was a cold because he whimpered slightly at first, and then into yelps on the second day. I could see that he was in pain, and unfortunately, he had to be put down. Which broke my heart, seeing that he suffered so much, adding to the fact that I wasn't there for him when he died because I was forced to go to school.
I am a really quiet person at school, everyone thinks that I'm all shy and distant. However, even 2 years on, I still do not forgive the person who did that to him. If I ever found out, I would gouge their eyes out slowly,then pour acid down his throat so he knew how my dog felt in his final days. I would seriously make them pay for the pain they had caused on my dog and I. However, I do not know who did it, and the police are useless at finding the criminal. So Im holding on to the hope that there is an afterlife, and I can deal with them there.
