You’re honestly the reason why I started reading Robin Hobb. She’s so amazing I’m about to finish the live ship traders trilogy. Cant wait to start the next series!
This video inspired me to pick up Brandon Sanderson - a big thank you for that! I am currently reading The Way of Kings and am absolutely in love with it. I had been struggling a lot with epic fantasy in the past but your recommendation reignited my passion for the genre.
The Green Bone Saga will always be my #1 adult fantasy series. I just can’t see anything topping it! But then you make these videos and all of a sudden I have a whole stack of new fantasy to read 😂❤
Hi Julia🤗 Sorry I'm not an English native speaker but I'm fond of English literature and I'm learning English! I read 4 English books (A Christmas carol; The Great Gatsby; A green mile; Pride and Prejudice). But the problem is it's still too hard to read an English book for me. I wanna say if you don't mind couldn't we befriend and read together when we have enough time to do it(I will not disturb you everyday or even you can say I will never but only you have free time and you wanna do it yourself)🤗 I have a burning desire to have a friend of native English speaker and I would be so much grateful🤗If you don't mind become friends with me we could keep in touch on whatsapp or on instagram. I'll be looking forward to your feedback. Have a good day🤗
I just picked up Jade City bc of this comment! I'm like 20% in but I'm already sucked in, after a big reading slump this means a lot! I'm curious to see how the story will develop for people to love it so much. I love all the descriptions and atmosphere
I’ve always been a huge reader but I’ve been watching your videos for 5 years now and literally read EVERYTHING you suggest. I’ve read all of realm of the elderings, books of babel, greenbone saga, all of Brandon Sanderson, bear and the nightingale, joe Abercrombie and so many more..,,,thank you so much for helping me discover my love for epic fantasy 🫶🏻❤️
My girlfriend got me into reading. She loves Sarah J Maas and I've enjoyed both of her series, but I went out and bought Stormlight and I'm so ready to tackle it this fantasy juggernaut this upcoming year!
Pleased to hear you’ve found an interest in reading. You’ll love stormlight. Sarah J Maas, I just feel like she writes to appeal to a female, specifically teenage female audience. If you love her stuff, try Red Rising. Personally I’d recommend Robin Hobbs books, you won’t regret it.
Love Brandon Sanderson’s Mist Born & Stormlight series and how his worlds seem to somehow connect. Also enjoyed the Reckoners and adored the Rithmatist, can’t wait for the sequel. Ty for the recommendations
I found your channel thru your most recent version of this video which introduced me to Sanderson, Hobb, etc - basically to the fantasy genre - and your energy for these series was contagious. The only one I had read (or heard of) previously was Broken Earth trilogy (so amazing). Now I've read part or all of Farseer trillogy, Liveship Trader trilogy, Mistborn (both eras), Books of Babel, First Law Trilogy, and Jade City (altho I'm having trouble getting into that one TBH). This year I hope to finish the ones I've started and get into Poppy War and Stormlight Archive, as well as continue with Hobb's trilogies, and plenty of others. Thanks for your inspiration to read so much more than I had been doing!
Great list! The Greenbone Saga and Robin Hobb in particular are on my all time favourites list too. The Liveship series is the first adult fantasy series I read when I was about 13 and it blew my mind! Recently reread it and oh boy did it hold up!
I had the chance to meet Robin Hobb at comic con this year and it turns out she is from a small town right next to me! It was such a unique experience getting to meet her ❤
I cried like a baby after City of Stairs and The Green Bone Saga, no other books I’ve read have made me feel like I am living alongside people for basically their entire lives

I've read the first Mistborn trilogy and have The Poppy War and Jade City ready to be started on my bookshelf. And I've had my eye on the Broken Earth Trilogy. Looks like a lot of great reading in my future!
Saw the Hobb books missing from your shelf at the start and was like… YEEEEEEES! Realm of the Elderlings are my all time favourite books! So hard to choose a favourite book from them all but Fool’s Assassin is my current favourite of them all, I had to stay up all night to read the last few hundred pages 😂 it was just not an option to put this book down near the end.
I highly recommend The Name of the Wind, it's my all-time favorite. It's about a man who became a legend but has now retired from that old life and owns a bar like a regular guy. He is called by some names like: Kvothe the Arcane, Kvothe the Assassin of the King, his history is twisted with lies and he has a bounty on his head, so he keeps a secret identity in a small isolated town. One day he saves a scribe's life from some monsters in the forest, and this scribe coincidentally was looking for him because he wants to tell his story. Kvothe reluctantly accepts and begins to tell the whole story. He says that the story will last 3 days, so there will be three books, each book spends one day in the present.
I picked up Ship of Magic about 1.5 years ago due to your recommendation. Robin Hobb quickly became my all-time favorite author and I read ALL of the Realm of the Elderlings books after that introduction. Then I got a puppy and named my dog FitzChivalry. The ones I've read on this list are some of my all time favorites too (currently finishing up Jade Legacy and having a hard time putting it down to work), and most of the rest were already on my to-read list, so I'm excited to add the ones I hadn't heard of (Robin Hobb, Josiah Bancroft, and Robert Jackson Bennett) to that list too, given how good their company is!
Ohhhhhh a kindred spirit! I am a huge Realm of the Elderlings fan - I’ve read all 16 books 3 times in as many years - I can bore the pants off anyone when I get going on these books! Oh I do so envy you. If you are able, I would highly, highly recommend the audiobooks of Joe Abercrombie’s work. All the books are narrated by Stephen Pacey, a god among voice actors and he brings the characters alive as well as enhancing the humour in JA’s writing. You have a treat in store!
First I need to mention that my favorite book of all times and the reason I even got into SFF is "Piranesi" by Sussana Clarke. This are my favorite series: 1."The Dandelion Dynasty" Ken Liu 2."Earthseed" Octavia E. Butler 3."Rook & Rose" M. A. Carrick 4. "The Poppy War" R. F. Kuang 5. "The Broken Earth" N. K. Jemisin 6. "The Winnowing Flame" Jen Williams Honorable mention "The Green Bone Saga" - Fonda Lee
Then, since you're already familiar with Brandon Sanderson, you should definitely go for the Stormlight Archives and Warbeaker, such amazing books that make you happy to be alive in the right time period to read them.

Hi Regan, love your channel! I would like to start reading the books of Robin hobb. In what order do you think I should read her books? (Maybe a video idea ;) ) Greatings from Belgium
I love your videos. If you're looking for a wonderful (contemporary) fantasy book, check out Phil Mazza's The Harrow Saga. It's published by a small publisher and is a coming of age fantasy with some powerful female characters. The language is wonderful. Warning: there's a lot going on, and the pace picks up as you read through the series. Some great plot twists, of course, and it's interesting how the author's writing style changes to reflect the maturity of the female protagonist. If you're tired of Gaiman, Martin, and Sanderson, you should check it out. Highly underrated!

Robin Hobb with her Realm of the Elderlings should be a no-brainer for anyone. My number one is Tawny Man, two Fitz and the Fool, three Live Ships. Broken Earth - Just a very good series. Stormlight - Two first books simply excellent, after that BS unfortunately kills it, dnf'd fourth. Mistborn - Cardboard cut-out characters. Sanderson’s big problem - too much love for the system. Age of Madness - The first writing by JA that didn’t grate me. Excellent to the nth degree! Poppy War, Books of Babel, City of Stairs, Green Bone Saga - Haven’t read, will probably read sometime in the future. In my top fantasy series in addition to the ones I like above: Dagger and the Coin by Daniel Abraham Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin Second Apocalypse by R. Scott Bakker (please don’t read the last two books!)
I tried the Fifth Season. I even tried the audiobook of the Fifth Season, and I just can't. I've heard so much good about her and this series, but I couldn't get passed the second time we get an entire chapter section in 2nd person. It's too awkward.
omg I just picked up Jade City because of this vid and I already love it, everyone is saying this ab the trilogy and I'm anxious/excited to see what it is about😭
@@itsmariaa18 it’s such a great story! It follows a huge span of time following the Kaul family and I think the books do a great job establishing each character despite such a large cast. Enjoy!!

I'm currently on the second book of the Daevabad trilogy, I can't say I'm enjoying it all that much. The prose is very bland and the dialogue isn't great, although I do find the story intriguing enough to keep reading.
Another Urban Fantasy Series you should read is The Dresden Files. Gets better and better with every book and has the hardest hitting emotional beats I’ve ever read…
My mistake was not listening to your entire review of Green Bones and missing the 'crime family setting' info - I absolutely could not get into this story. For me, it was too slow, very little world-building, I'm not a fan of mafia stories, the power/magic system wasn't interesting, and the graphic s** really threw me off since one of the things I've enjoyed about fantasy series in general are great stories I can share with my teen kids
Here's my list 1. The green bone saga 2. Harry Potter series 3. The dark tower series by Stephen king 4. From blood and ash series by Jennifer l armentrout 5. The age of madness trilogy by Joe Abercrombie
So, your list inspired me to do one of my own, using the freedom you offered to select series or novels. Have a good day🤗
Oh I do so envy you. If you are able, I would highly, highly recommend the audiobooks of Joe Abercrombie’s work. All the books are narrated by Stephen Pacey, a god among voice actors and he brings the characters alive as well as enhancing the humour in JA’s writing. You have a treat in store!
@@tanja9364 Aww that's lovely to hear how much you love his books!
I loved The Poppy War so much!
Stephen Donaldson - Thomas Covenent Series - try those for an incredible read
First I need to mention that my favorite book of all times and the reason I even got into SFF is "Piranesi" by Sussana Clarke. This are my favorite series:
1."The Dandelion Dynasty" Ken Liu
2."Earthseed" Octavia E. Butler
3."Rook & Rose" M. A. Carrick
4. "The Poppy War" R. F. Kuang
5. "The Broken Earth" N. K. Jemisin
6. "The Winnowing Flame" Jen Williams
Honorable mention
"The Green Bone Saga" - Fonda Lee
from this selection, i have only read mistborn so far and really enjoyed it! and some these are on my tbr-list.
Then, since you're already familiar with Brandon Sanderson, you should definitely go for the Stormlight Archives and Warbeaker, such amazing books that make you happy to be alive in the right time period to read them.
Still only read one robin hobb
Warbreaker - Brandon Sanderson, Theft of Swords - Michael J. Sullivan, The Dark is Rising - Susan Cooper, Everworld - K.A. Applegate, Something Dark and Holy - Emily A. Duncan, Guardians of the Flame : The Warriors - Joel Rosenberg, Tortal series - Tamora Pierce, Emelan series - Tamora Pierce, The Unexpected Dragon - , The Enchanted Forest Chronicles.
Can you do a video of beginner fantasy or urban fantasy for someone who wants to start reading fantasy and doesn’t know where to begin?
I posted a beginners guide a few months ago! If you search my vids I have a couple of options 🤗

This is revealing; the paired book is the revelation. "Galaxies United" by Olivia Whitestone
Would you be able to do fantasy recommendations for people who loved game of thrones?
I've read everything by joe Abercrombie.
Does anyone know where she got the lamp in the back? It's so cute
The covenant of steel by Anthony Ryan is a amazing series
Hi Regan, love your channel! I would like to start reading the books of Robin hobb. In what order do you think I should read her books? (Maybe a video idea ;) ) Greatings from Belgium
Love finding a new Glokta "fan" :PP
Me too, me too!
Senlin Ascends is great. A new favorite.
Thank you for the good information♡
I really need to pick up Poppy War 🥲
Will you be reading The Age of Madness trilogy?
When I saw the video title, i click and saw the blank spaces on the shelf, and the way of king is missing. And I just had a knowing smile on my face🌝

Awesome reviews😊
Can you read the different trilogies in the Robin Hobb universe out of order?
No.
You definitely can, I did and they’re still my absolute favourites. I say start with the liveship traders
Noooooo! Please don’t.
Hi ! I want to share with you about one book: "KAYAN KOLLYN- The spiral of the Ellmott & messenger of the secret." a great fiction of adventure, mystery, ART, an ancient CRAFFARTT, and science. once you read it, you definitely love it, because it speaks about all dimensions of life, without the barrier of the beliefs and social divisions.
Love your content!
Waiting for your review ❤❤❤
The great fantasy adventure ever: KAYAN KOLLYN
The fifth season is really great book

Bridge four!!
In my top fantasy series in addition to the ones I like above:
Dagger and the Coin by Daniel Abraham
Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin
Second Apocalypse by R.
I think before jade legacy, the only book that brought me to tears was clockwork princess (which was sooo long ago) so it hit really hard for me 😅
And by tears I mean sobbing
omg I just picked up Jade City because of this vid and I already love it, everyone is saying this ab the trilogy and I'm anxious/excited to see what it is about😭
@@itsmariaa18 it’s such a great story! It follows a huge span of time following the Kaul family and I think the books do a great job establishing each character despite such a large cast. Enjoy!!
I’ve only started 2 series out of this list but I own all the others lol my tbr list is too long 😫
Does the green bone saga have a sad ending?
I just started Robin hobb. I resd ship of magic but have two series on my shelves

Great list but I think if you haven't yet give Michael j Sullivan a try his world building is top tier

I am surprised that you don't have 'The Daevabad Trilogy' and 'The Broken Earth' in here. But nevertheless great list.
I'm currently on the second book of the Daevabad trilogy, I can't say I'm enjoying it all that much. The prose is very bland and the dialogue isn't great, although I do find the story intriguing enough to keep reading.
Ship of magic are my favorite series I read it so GOOD 📚🎄❤️💚💚📚📚📚❤️💚❤️📖📖🎅🏻🎅🏻💚💚❤️📚📚🎄❤️💚🎄📚📚❤️💚❤️🎄📖🎅🏻🎅🏻💚💚❤️📚📙📙📙📚🎄

LOVEE Robin Hobb so much she is INCREDIBLE author! 📚❤️💚💚💚🎄📙📚🎄💚🎅🏻🎅🏻📖📖📖💚🎄❤️📚📙📙📚❤️🎄💚🎄❤️📖🎅🏻🎅🏻💚💚💚❤️📚📙📙📙❤️🎄🎄
Here's my list
1. The green bone saga
2. Harry Potter series
3. The dark tower series by Stephen king
4. From blood and ash series by Jennifer l armentrout
5. The age of madness trilogy by Joe Abercrombie
So, your list inspired me to do one of my own, using the freedom you offered to select series or novels.
Not enough room to go into why all these made my list (and not the other 10 or so I left on my honourable mention list)
Happy reading!
