Picked up a no lock 442 Performance Center a couple of weeks ago and put around 200 rounds through it. I was able to put several rounds center chest on a man size target @ 25 yards repeatedly. It’s w/o a doubt the best shooting J Frame I’ve ever owned.

I recently bought a "no lock" 442 as well and absolutely love it!

I have a PC 442, you get what you pay for, but the trigger is worth it. You can change the springs and achieve a similar result, but then you run the risk of light primer strikes.

The two models are identical internally. The PC model is built with an 8 pound mainspring, rather than the standard 8.5 pound mainspring...... and a slightly lighter, 16 pound rebound slide spring. There is no action work performed other than the spring change.

I installed a Wilson Combat spring kit in my 642, game changer!

Also on the PC gun is a cut cylinder for moon clips. Moon clips are not easy to get in such a small revolver but it's much faster than loading single rounds.

That is in the pro series and not the performance center enhanced series, am I correct?

@@LeroyJenkins-ul1kbI have the Performance Center version which came with a cut cylinder, 3 moon clips and various other upgrades. The PC version in this video doesn't look to have the cut cylinder plus has a different set of grips. Here's Gunblast with another comparison showing the one I have.

@@jagjim1485 sorry to be a bother but if I may ask, do the cartridges "rattle around" if you have a cylinder cut for moon clips but have no moon ring in place?

I chose the 642PC, with no lock. I considered the UC which had just been offered since "Shot Show 24 ".
I weighted the $150 up charge of the UC ( G10 grips and combat sights)
I decided since I pocket carry, and the gun is up close defense, the PC was a better option.
I'm not sorry I went that way .

I have a reg 642-1. It has an issue with the cylinder opening properly on all chambers.. Only will open 2 out of 5 chambers without force. The guide rod is getting hung up on the detent on the muzzle it lines up..smh. Sending it back for repair and having them do the trigger because i do love it and shoot it a lot better then i thought. A lot of practice with the trigger and have gotten good with timing it but if image id be allot more actuate not straining those 12lbs doubles over 9lbs.

Hard to see how any detritus - skin cells, lint - can possibly get into the fire control housing, given the lack of entry points with a completely closed hammer.

Change the video title to "Cleaning a 642"... why must we wait several minutes before we get to the comparison of the performance center and factory guns?

  • @efreutel

Gun is internal hammer, not “hammerless.” It does have a hammer.

Very respectfully, if you treat every gun as if it is loaded, you never allow it to point at your hands, arms, or chest. I know you showed it was unloaded. Careless habits can get people hurt. Thank you for your video.

    • @maverickgunworks8777
      @maverickgunworks8777  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

You are very much correct. Always treat them as if loaded until you verify they are not loaded. If you work at a gunsmith you look down barrels all the time. Just gotta make sure they are unloaded first. Thank you for your comment.
