    Wow thanks for that! I'd never have dared to strip the handbrake side down without your video.

      Wasn't too bad I hope?

      @@Nodarperformance I thank you tooo, because i didn't believe 2 my friend, that it has around 30 parts for one side of the brakes.

    How to remove the piston on the parking brake lever side ? I turned the adjuster on the outside fully clockwise to push it as far as possible. But now it looks like it has reached it's end

      the adjuster just comes out, its held with a circlip on the ID

    In case the handbrake piston adjustment mechanism is spinning free, how can it be solved?

    • @Nodarperformance
      @Nodarperformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes the internal mechanism is disconnected. Caliper will need to be disassembled and rebuilt

    how did you remove the inner adjustment screw and c-clip?

      @@davelee7572 there is an internal retaining ring (or wire) on the screw itself. Once removed, the adjuster is removed and the o-ring is accessible

    Very similar to the ATE calipers used on Porsche 914s, Ferrari 308s, Volvos, Mercedes.... Be thankful yours just have hex-head bolts; the ATEs used RIBE bolts (similar to Polydrive and not common sized but 7mm and 9mm threads)! Next time instead of whacking the parking brake arm off, drill a small, shallow hole near the edge (but not on the edge!) of that "cap" and pry the cap off with a small screwdriver. Then you'll be able to properly pop the snap ring off. The risk by hitting it is you could damage the retaining groove for that snap ring. These caps are basically smaller types of engine block frost plugs.

      +Peter Rychel scary that on one the calipers the handbrake lever snap ring was not even attached anymore and the lever just fell out. Wouldn't have known anyways as the paring brake cable was snapped, so a new one of those is already installed and ready to try out...maybe one day the parking brake on this car may actually function properly

      +Nodarperformance Yeah, old Italian cars and parking brakes are an oxymoron ;).... At least with the ATE calipers, that inboard adjuster screw needs regular adjusting. Once adjusted they hold fine, but as the pads wear, they need to be screwed in more. Good thing to check on a yearly service. Specs call for 0.1mm (0.004") gap between the pad and disc! Hopefully your rotors aren't warped 'cause that can be less than the run-out on some!

      +Peter Rychel ATE says that once the .1mm gap is adjusted, they are supposed to auto adjust as pads wear. However, in my experience this has never quite worked properly until I have disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and lubed the internal mechanism as shown. I did this exact caliper rebuild on my GTV6 last year and it has been great to have a working p. brake finally

    could you tell me more about the shit knob getting sanded in the background?

    • @Nodarperformance
      @Nodarperformance  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +heith85 yes the knob sanding the shifter in the background was just wasting his time, since not only can you buy that exact shifter brand new and unbroken, but goes into a car which will be returning to nature any time now

    • @heith85
