Thank you for another informative video. Keep them coming. Getting into my own ball python collection again, waiting patiently for my TGR rack.. very patiently it’s taking quite a bit of time. Again keep these videos coming really enjoy watching them.
Love all the videos coming out, ive been researching ball pythons for about 4months now and will be picking up a pied ball tomorrow, these videos have helped a lot
Great video Chris! Love all the videos you put out. I actually hope to be getting my first snake soon. Thx again for sharing your knowledge and first hand experiences with these animals. Keep up the good work! 👍
I’ve fed my corn snake, Cob (like corn on the cob). Once a month with 2 mice at a time. He’s been eating that way for 15+ years and is going strong! Thoughts??
makes you wonder if they can deliberately manipulate their metabolism on their own based off how often they're offered food. like how wolves are able to manipulate how many pups are in a litter if they think there's not enough of them in their habitat. Like that small snake you mentioned kept feeding frequently: probably thinking it should burn off all this food if it's going to keep getting it that often.
Please lmk exactly what kind of snake Bobby is?? I recently got my first and he’s similar, yellow belly or specter bamboo. Thanks for your consideration
I have been giving my 5 month old pastel ball a medium mouse every 3 days. She seems to just take them and is a really happy eater. Ive been told to only feed her once a week but she is only 105 grams (after pooping) and when i got her in the mail she seemed a bit thin. Should i move up to rat pups? or maybe small quail? Im not sure what to give her because of her small size. I think she was only maintenance fed and im not sure if she was fed before being shipped or not.
so taking care of a garter snake you have to feed it once a week? I'm feeding it chicken hearts and worms with calcium powder and vitamin powders (for reptiles) and I cut the chicken hearts in half and let them eat till they don't want anymore should I stop feeding them till there full
Hello sir please answer me I am a new ball owner and when my snake has just pooped it was runny I never had this problem before and I watched alot of your videos for help and I need help
Hey man, new subscriber. I really like the information that you provide. It has been very helpful. I was given two snakes about 4 months ago. They were pretty skinny so I have been trying to feed them whenever they will accept their food. I feed them thawed (warmed) rodents as they were raised on. My little ghost python is about three feet long and finally gaining some width. Is there any time that I should be concerned she is getting too fat?
So I ended up leaving them alone for a week and then fed them, they took right away. Minor hissing from one but otherwise seem to have adapted well....it was a long week, lol
I have 6 Ball Pythons' for 17 years. They are all adults and live together. I feed them like every 17 days. I used to feed them every 13 or 14 days but it seemed like they could go a bit longer. 1 one my snakes does not eat for 5 feedings in a row. Every year at the same time. I keep a log of there feeding with notes to keep track of whats' going on with them. Apparently i do alot of things you should not do with them but how can it be wrong when its been working for this long
I’m having trouble getting my almost two year old ball python off mice and over to eating one rat opposed to feeding him two mice every two weeks, is this common and any tips for getting him to change?
If you’ve still had problems by now try to get the smell of the mouse onto the rat and trick your snake like I did, hopefully it works mate!! Beat luck
Hey Chris., i feed my adult female ball python her appropriate large rat but she still looks hungry and looks around the cage for food. Would feeding her 2 rats per feeding be to much.?
Some people gives only once a month food for pet ball pythons... i think 2 week cycly is better? I will give once a week when I get mine. I want them big :D
All that info about the reticulated python just blew my mind!!! I have a question about ball pythons though. Is there a certain order you need to list the genes of an animal? Like, is a Banana Cinnamon the same as a Cinnamon Banana, or does it not make a difference?
The order doesn't really make a difference, although some of the combos are listed in order just because they always have been, like pastel pinstripe, no one really says pinstripe pastel for a lemonblast, not sure why LOL.
The only reason they do that is so your snake one confuse your hand with food when your only trying to grab it. Instead of putting it somewhere else to eat where she knows it’s time to eat
Depending on activity level of the individual, I feed my juvie hognose small meals every 3 or 5 days since their metabolism is insane and they’re fun to feed. My adults get a fuzzy mice every week. My juvie sand boa eats a slightly larger meal every week and my adults every two weeks. I’ve had good growth and weight maintenance w/ this feeding schedule and always look forward to monthly weigh ins!
I was given a ball python because the previous owners didn't want him anymore. They told me they were feeding him once every two months. He's about three years old and about 3-foot I believe. I know nothing about snakes.. ive been feeding him once a month so far. If you have any advice please lemme know.
I got my ball python about a month ago and I was worried that she wouldn’t eat since it was a new environment but she has been taking every meal I have offered her!
I just gave my python a hopper mouse today I only had one could I give him another one tomorrow without screwing up the feeding and making think he will be getting twice a week because I think he is still hungry he stared at spot where I feed him n young continues to flicker
Chris Hardwick ty very much for you time it’s time it is time to feed him 2 instead of 1 mouse he has grow almost inch and a half since we got him 2 weeks go waiting for normal feeding day and starting his 2 mice a week
I feed my Sandboa a hooper ASF rat almost everyday !! She is an amazing eater. She only refuses when she is in shed. She was 10 months when I got her n so tiny I’ve only had her 3 months and she has grown so damn much it’s crazy. Makes me wonder where they even feeding her right . But I love her so much. Sand boas r my favorite snake!
u might want to reduce the feedings to every week. power feeding cuts life span and could result in pin head syndrome where her head doesn’t grow at the same rate as her body and looks disproportionate. sand boa are very prone to obesity too
I just love Bobby lol he is so cute I love how he stands straight up lol and love his pattern just love it!!! I have a baby Ivory and pied ball pythons and I feed them every 5 to 7 days. I can tell when they start getting hungry cause they come out hunting with that head up. Lol My Ivory came to me super small for a 3 month old 15” and was on a food strike for 5 weeks and the seller would never answer my questions so I knew then I bought from a seller that either didn’t breed it or just don’t care cause all he would tell me was that he was 3 months old and couldn’t tell me he hatching date. But I put him in a smaller bin after 5 weeks of trying and bam he ate. I really think he never ate before cause he was younger then what the seller said cause my pied was only little over a month old when I got him and he was 18” and he ate every week. My question to you is do you think different morphs are more nippy then others? I know they all have their own personalities but I feel like pied ball pythons are more striker and more alert at watching every move. Lol What your thoughts on it?

Hey I have a few questions! Do any of you guys worry about indigenous species? Are any of you aware of the Sweetwater Round up? And my main question for you breeders that have pretty much hit the big time, do you guys use ANY of your favorite funds to end the Sweetwater Roundup?
Chris Hardwick how long have you been working with snakes in general if you don’t mind me asking? I don’t claim to be a “expert” or “professional” by no means but I do handle venomous snakes pretty regularly and I have a baby laticinctus (Broadband Copperhead) and I probably knew what a snake was before I knew what a puppy or a dog. My point being I LOVE all snake species and have so much respect for you guys and the field Herpers like myself. But let’s say they made a Python regius event where they get pythons and just start cutting they’re little heads off and laughing pulling out they’re teeth playing in they’re blood? It’s a horrible event.
@@ballpythons6776 they wouldnt eat them they would strike them and then leave them I tried three times before I tried the adult mice now that they are a bit bigger and moved up to two mice I figure they are big enough to eat a small rat
I feed my balls as much as they'll eat until they are breeding weight then I switch to once a week. It seems like they hog down whatever you throw at them until they reach 1000 grams then they start self regulating. Obviously I don't feed stuffed snakes or oversized meals, it usually works out to twice a week. I have an enchi orange dream fire female and a bumblebee female that both have never turned down food, always act hungry and are both really big girls, hopefully they will go next season, they are both well over 2000 grams.
I really liked this video. Awhile back I was watching mutation Creation feed his snakes and realized that the prey size that I was offering was way too small.
