How long do you soak the equipment?

Got a used glove and blocker set, it was disgusting nasty stinky. Started by spraying it down with an alcohol water mix, next agitated it by hand for 15 in oxyclean odor blaster. Air dried for a day, sprayed again with alcohol mix and then it started to stink horrible nasty BO mixed with cigarette smoke smell it was stinky up me and my house. I started pre treating with a mix of odor blaster and alcohol water mix on a spray bottle, sprayed all surfaces every 30 minutes for 2 hours. I then filled the washer again with extra odor blaster, submerged the blocker and glove with kettle bells placed in bags. Soaked 4.5 hours and rinsed them good. Seems to have worked.
I can see why new equipment is a good alternative to disgusting cess pool baterial petri dish equipment.

I never touched my equipment for about 3 years after highschool. I need to clean it up so I can use it again. I probably should have sold my Brian optiks but I think I'll keep them forever just in case.

I fucked up my dryer trying to dry my chesty and pants. There's a steam nozel in there and it got torn right off. Thankfully I was able to fix it myself. I had to completely disassemble the dryer and it took me an entire day. I'd rather my gear stink than have to do that again. Besides, the smell keeps guys out of my crease.

@@trav4oilers come on. No chance. You left the equipment in when you drained the tub. I have to try this with my sons gear. Unlike you, he has been on the ice 6 days a week. We actually turn down ice time so he can rest.

Keep in mind I give ZERO fucks but the gear is designed to be played on Frozen water. A little liquid water aint gonna hurt nothing except the blades. They'll rust

I never used to wash my gear. I was a gross teenager who didn't know any better. But now I'm 40 and I'm still using most of that same 25yo gear. And it smells awful. I've tried to cleaning it since I started playing again but nothing has had much of an effect. Oh well, it keeps guys out of my crease.
Tangent: the only piece of gear I had to replace when I started playing again were the leg pads. Everything else was still suitable. All the elastic straps are shot but whatever. Still works. The new style leg pads are awesome. I wish I had them when I was a kid.
