Pioneers? C'mon man. I love beastie boys. But they just slightly added a rock'ish background sound to the same exact style that they themselves said influenced them... Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, Schooly D, Kool Moe Dee, Biz Markie, and the Fat boys. Wasn't that much pioneering going on.

"Another Dimension!" Damn...you just schooled me on that. I've been listening to this since it dropped and never it! And, of course, as soon as you said it, it became so obvious.🤣🤣

I grew up on the Beastie Boys and just figured out what this line means.
"Like a pinch on the neck of Mr Spock"
I guess there is a thing called the "vulkan grip" It's a pinch on the neck that renders a person unconscious.

How far the Beastie Boys have come. They started out on Bowery St during the old CBGB days as a punk rock group. Sometime later, Ad Rock would be very instrumental getting a little neighborhood kid named James his foot in the door. Ladies Loved Cool James he thought and that became his name - LL Cool J.

so the Cool Moe Dee line was a diss
he used to rate rap bands a-f on different categories
and beasties got Fs in ever category except "sticks to themes" they got an A
"Got an A from Moe Dee for stickin to themes"
so they owned it like a badge rather than let themselves get pinned down by it..
