@@Diemalexander There were a couple of rules that had to be revised in the wake of this fight. First of all, the unsticking. Now, bots that get themselves stuck on the arena do not get freed, unless they can free themselves. Also, the rule on controlled movement. Whereas Minotaur here was not really in full control, so they were under threat of a count-out, now, any movement counts as movement, so Minotaur would've been unquestionably still in contention.
No ruleset is perfect, and there is always room for improvement, but I do believe the following season has benefited greatly from these rule changes.
@@Diemalexander I explain it with a different example, an international cooking program, it is indisputable who was the winner. The entire jury commented that the winner was the "non-American", but one on the jury was an American (and a well-known chef). He told them that the best was the participant from the United States, and then they all chose the one from the United States.
Witch Doctor is an excellent team, and Andrea is great, but on this occasion, Minotauro deserved to win. In other competitions, whenever an opponent got stuck, it was the loser. This is not the first time they have done this to Minotaur. I'm sorry, it makes me sad but it's the truth.

Iirc if one bot is stuck that will be the end of them but if both bots are stuck together they will try to separate both bots
Why stop the battle to free Wichdoctor?it should have been counted out first....
Personally i feel it should have been a double DQ. WD got stuck just as M lost their wheel. Both should have been counted out.
Despite seeing some controversial matches like HUGE vs Hydra and Rotator vs Beta. I think this could be a Top 1 for being the MOST Controversial Match I've ever seen.
never forget what Hydra did to Huge. Classic
Minotaur was not controlling well but it was getting around the field although slow to indirect movement. It was NOT driving in circles getting nowhere. Witchdoctor was scared of being hit and avoided the fight AFTER they should have been counted out. So yea. Clearly a bad decision by team Witchdoctor and the judges. I don't know which season this was. But it made that team a bit unsympathetic.
Witch Doctor could have continued the fight. If Minotaur was struggling to get around, WD could have picked them off, driving behind them and making it a real fight. They backed away and wouldn't engage. I lost some respect for WD here.

Frankly, if he had control, he should have attacked.
He knows how the scoring works, he knows he's going to lose on damage and aggression (since they played defensively though most of the match), going to a judge's decision is effectively a forfeit.
He's experienced enough to know this so it can't have been a choice.

It's worse when you recall earlier that season, another bot called deep six was stuck in the saw slots and they just counted it out and not unstick it.
Complete robbery, always favoring the US teams, absurd.

i don't think the unstick is unreasonable but Minotaur should get a free hit for it imo

I remembered bots being treated with crowbars before this. Was not sure if unstuck from arena was the case back then. But as big dill was stuck in the rise it was not freed... Ok it's controversial 😮

So minotaur was still moving and clearly under control using the gyroscopic effect to its advantage, but clearly moving in a controlled manner, but the judge was still inclined to count him out
And witch doctor had to be unstuck from the arena, which has 1. never been done before 2. should have been a knockout since its been like that for so many many bots already.
Witch doctor at least retained 99% of its mobility and looked to be in better shape then minotaur. I give them that. But this should have clearly gone to minotaur.
Exactly, and also witch doctor was just stuck and why didn't the other bots get a chance when they get stuck it should've been over for witch doctor a lot earlier
Witch doctor was helped plus totally passive when they needed to go for the knock out. The judges totally kept interfering with minotaur saying they didn't have control. What a terrible decision.
And to make things worse minotaur may lost a wheel but that was do to a mistake of the driver and not the work of witch doctor so he shouldnt get any damage points for that

They had lost a wheel, they were obviously going to lose on damage. Going to a judges decision was effectively forfeiting a match for Minotaur.
So if they had control, why didn't they attack? Since their only hope for victory was in doing more damage to WD, refusing to do so is effectively a forfeit.
They aren't an inexperienced team. They know how the scoring works. Their refusal to attack cannot have been a choice.
@@archlorddestin Minotaur did keep trying to attack. Witch Doctor kept running away and avoiding them. Minotaur didn't have great control, and "full control" is an exaggeration, but was absolutely under control nonetheless. The gyroscopic effect of the drum paired with the remaining wheel allowed them to roughly move in whatever direction they wanted. We've seen this in other fights of Minotaurs when it even still had both wheels, where sometimes it'd drive around on one wheel and using the gyroscopic effect of the drum to quickly flip itself in a different direction or make a lunge over an attacker to get behind them. Minotaur still had that level of control, so definitely valid under either ruleset BattleBots has had.
Witch Doctor on the other hand, who clearly had _better_ control, weren't trying to attack at all. Either bot _has to be_ on the attack as by the rules, so even without the unsticking, they should've probably been counted out based on their refusal to fight.
The way Witch Doctor was given a time-out almost immediately was very shady.

This fight taught us a few things:
1. The Upper Deck is annoying and should go. No one likes it, including the competitors
2. The refereeing rules badly needed work. The second half of the fight was the referees bickering with their teams and not communicating with each other. They should either have counted out Minotaur (which would have been controversial in itself as it could still gyro) or told Witch Doctor that Minotaur was not going to be counted out, which would have given them the go to attack. The unsticking rules were unclear too, why was WD freed but others not in previous fights?
3. Witch Doctor is quite durable. They took a beating early on, yet it was Minotaur that was first to take major damage (wheel)
4. Minotaur's weapon hits really hard when it's going properly. I always looked at their drum as something that chips away at their opponents bit by bit (e.g. Minotaur vs. Blacksmith) but these were some huge hits.
I mean they should have let team Minotaur replace their broken wheel, then unsticking would have been 100% fine by me.
Witch doctor didn't need repairs. The arena needed repairs. That was why it was trapped.

yes cause that's the only time when a bot stuck to the arena was "unstuck" for no reason at all

Am I missing something here or did Minotaur clearly win this fight? Why was Witch Doctor freed when it was clearly poor driving that got them stuck?

Despicable, Witchdoctor gets a helping hand from management by freeing them from a stuck position, when they should have been counted out for loss of mobility. Adding insult to injury, the Witchdoctor team then demands that Minotaur be counted out.
while them being unstuck was clearly against the rules, bots that moved like minotaur were counted out in other matches so i guess they were expecting that (tho if i were them i'd be ashamed since what happened before).
what's really absurd is the judge's decision that ignored how minotaur dominated the whole match
@@iochisono97 Other bots were going in circles though... Minotaur was using the gyroscopic force from its drum to move around in a somewhat controlled way because Daniel Freitas is an amazing driver!
@@Bender789456123 yes, he was doing much better. still, i've seen bots which manage to reach the other bot be counted out immediately, while others were almost completely still and the countdown was still waiting to start.
there simply wasn't a standard for that.

Yup, plenty of bots got counted out after getting themselves stuck with their wedges, weapons, etc. into the walls or saw slits but witch doctor gets te only ever pass on that rule for that fight... it was clear favoritism lol

Wow, yeah, my fav team is witch doctor, but they clearly lost this. Minotaur could move (albeit really crippled), they couldn't. Outside help is unfair and it didn't always happen.
It literally never happened before or after this incident so it is total BS. Minotaur clearly won that fight because witch doctor should've been counted out. I used to cheer for witch doctor any chances I get but I stopped after seeing this fight a while back lol
I’m voting for Minotaur and it is the right bot to win, witch doctor was already stuck and cannot move in the first half of the match, so the win goes to Daniel Freitas.
I always like to say that the primary weapon of Minotaur isn't that drum, is Danil Freitas. Apparently he's also Minotaur's primary drive train as well!
That verdict is practically impossible where it does not conform to reality where minotaur is clearly the winner, since the rival received external help, a robbery!
The fact that it took not 1 but 2 crowbars to free WD and they ask for a countdown shows incredible lack of sportsmanship. The decision to not engage after show cowardness while minataur was still able to move freely. I dont want to say this is favouritism but there were unfair advantages given that i had never seen before and i belive this was extremely unfair. I like both bots but there was a real lack of sportmanship on WD’s side of things when minataur was not objecting when they were pried free.
yea it's like getting flipped out of the field by hydra, but they put back the bot in using hands🤣🤣

Most of Witch Doctor's battles I have seen before this has been ones where they keep being favoured by judges - or they end up whining.
This fight was ridiculous, Minotaur clearly dominated the fight, having witch doctor frees was ridiculous, the count down should have started there, but for witch doctor being stuck
When I heard "time-out to get WD unstuck"...
I had to check the channel I was watching to ensure I wasn't viewing a wrong thing man...

So ... I'm a minotaur fan. I haven't seen the judges results yet. We did lose the wheel, it looks awful regarding the damage we received unlike the barely scratched witch doc BUT, witch doctor got stuck, just like many other times other bots have had in the past. I don't see how they allowed them to play again unstuck 🤷♂, is it a new rule i am not aware of? Anyways, if we take into account that the crew help to get unstuck is legit the win should be for wt for damage and damage alone, even tho minotaur lost a wheel their movement was just fine, no circles or stopped. If there was more time the fight should have kept on going. Seeing the result now, it's justified for the damage but since they got stuck in the first place i don't know 🤦♂.
If you take into account that witch doctor is the only bot to ever get unstuck like this instead of being counted out in BattleBots history, there isn't even a discussion to be had... Minotaur clearly deserved that win after witch doctor got itself stuck on the arena!
Worse than that, after this battle, they added the rule of "any movement = movement" and "bot will need to free themselves if they get stuck in the arena". Freeing WD was just a BS showing favoritism, no one never get freed before.
When Withcdoctor was stuck, Minotaur could have gyro-slid over and got off a hit, which could have won the fight or just freed witchdoctor. Don’t see why then judges did a time-out
I've never seen this where a robot gets stuck in something and someone goes in there and takes it out. It's funny that this happens right when it's a match between a Brazilian team and an American team. Clearly manipulated. Americans have a huge ego. They don't accept losing, even if they have to manipulate it to do so. This gives the competition a bad name and discourages people from watching. These judges should have been changed some time ago. They've done this other times against Brazilian teams, in this case Minotaur and Black Dragon.
As a total newbie to this sport how is it Witch Doctor wasn't counted out when it became stuck wedged into the barrier and then was aloud to be freed through help from the arena crew? I think I might have to start watching this crazy pumping BattleBot sport.
The minotaur's weapon was extremely strong in season 6, and this fight is a demonstration , for me this was the best season of minotaur

for just a casual watcher like me, mino shouldve won hands down. sure in other games, there are unstick help rules, but not here. as others have said it has never been done before
ironic how WD complained about counting out when they themselves shouldve been out. and good they revised the rule for controlled movement as mino obviously still had control, but barely, and that should still count

as they announced before the fight, the finals could have been "all female leadears" and thus they bent the rules to let WD win.

Getting stuck on the floor saw's slit = counted-out.
Same on the side rails = Pause the match to unstuck Wdoctor so the driver can be scared (average US citizen) of the brazilian horns.
Vergonhoso o resultado. Minotaur foi mais agressivo e mostrou vontade de lutar. Witch Doctor bateu pouco e ficou se esquivando a maior parte do tempo, principalmente no final. Sobre ter enroscado na arena, temos um exemplo de uma luta entre o Minotaur e o Tombstone, onde o Minotaur ficou enroscado em um pedaço de aço que abriu na arena, e os juizes abriram a contagem. Porque não abriram com Witch Doctor?
How is this even possible, minotaur is the obvious winner. witchdocter had sooo many options to actually deal damage to minotaur while he was driving with 1 wheel. And they did not take advantage of that, how in the world do they still win the fight??!?!?! these judges are so rigged
this match have bad end. normaly countdown began when a bot is stuck,even if it's because he stuck itself by trying to attack the arena or being planting in it after being throwned in air or either incapacited... witch doctor normaly gain a countdown for being stuck, when minotaur is still moving!
the driver of minotaur is knowned staying dangerous and able to drive on one wheel.
minotaur probably made a hit on witch doctor in his moves letting a chance to witch doctor to be back in fight,but if the driver of minotaur succesfully dont hit witch doctor this match have been finished on a count for witch doctor.
others bots habe been counted in similar situations of witch doctor,this decision to unstuck witch doctor is nonsens .
and in bonus the crew of witch doctor who call to a count while minotaur is still moving after being themself unstuck and fleeing fight is incredibly low fairplay.
the decision of the juges is complet nonsens: between a bot injuried but innassited and in desire for fight,and another who habe been unstuck and fee he fight while calling a count for the other for no reason the victory have to go for the bot who is still fighting without help. not the assisted who flee the fight.
Unfair judges decision. Minotaur is not just a better war machine, but also it was a clear winner cuz Which Doc was stuck.

I didn't understand anything, minotaur was the bot that caused the most damage, (highest score type) and he didn't lose total control of the bot when he was on just one wheel.
Witch Doctor caused less damage, suffered more and jumped more with the damage suffered, besides it was supposed to be KO when he got stuck there, and it was still helped! LOL
This unanimous decision by the judges was very strange and could very well be challenged
Minotaur knocked off a bit of armour plating, Witch doctor knocked off a wheel. They didn't do as much damage as witch doctor.

@@archlorddestin WD internals 100% took massive blows the few times it got thrown into the air and, as Checo said, they should've been counted out when they got themselves stuck on the arena. It has never happened before or after this incident in battlebots history that a bot was assisted like this... The only valid case for unstucking is if both bots are stuck to each other!
@@checovisky1419 It got stuck due to the poor construction of the arena. A properly constructed arena would either have been torn through or deflected witch doctor's attacks. It is not fair for them to lose because of poor construction.
And minotaur could move. It couldn't move in a controlled fashion. It could lurch in a random way across the arena, given enough time but it couldn't attack.
Has WitchDoctor pressure welded itself onto the arena edge?!?
If they don't want bots getting stuck on the wall... don't make the wall jagged 🥴
Biased decision is a shame, the minotaur was clearly harmed, where an opponent who was trapped on the battlefield has already been removed, shameful for those responsible for the event.😮

A very different fight. Would you reset a fight if a bot got stuck on the screws, or wedged out the arena? No.... but Minotaurs mobility was marred significantly, enough to swing to decision

It was a tough call but I think everyone did okay given the situation. Ideally this would have been a double K.O. Having movement and control are two different things. Watch the movement when the match restarts, Minotaur crabwalks, which many others have been K.O for. Given he can gyro with the drum, I can also steer my car in a skid, does that mean I have control? Cannot speak for WD being unstuck, was not a standard stick but still was a stick.

Witch Doctor was immobilized (ie. stuck), while Minotaur still had control. Witch Doctor was given a stay of execution by the officials. Then, once freed, they didn't capitalize on that, instead waiting on the officials to help them again. They blew all their chances and should have lost. Minotaur was robbed.
This was a steal! The organization should be ashamed!

That clearly illegal because the bot cant move by itself, this is same as during Minotaur vs Tombstone where Minotaur stuck on damaged arena and Minotaur got counted out.

If the match counted as draw, Minotaur won by judges, and Minotaur will defeat Tantrum easily and already win the Giant Nut
But in order to get to the Finals, Minotaur would've had to get past SawBlaze first, and as we've already seen, SawBlaze's fork setup seems like the ideal counter to Minotaur's drum.

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about... Daniel Freitas is known for moving around on one wheel using the gyroscopic force from his robot's drum spinner. Also, it has never happened before or after this incident that a bot was freed after getting itself stuck on the arean... Witch doctor 100% should have been counted out!

Witch doctor should of attack minotor when he was crab walking but he didnt want to take the chance to get hit by minotor so The winner is Minotor
This fight made witch doctor as a team invalid in my eyes. Got stuck and the refs IMMEDIATELY made a controversial timeout. Then they have the gaul to complain about how Minotaur should have been counted out.

How did WD win with 2 points? I assume they got 0 for aggression and 0 for damage as the damage was done by the screws. I took 1 point off control as the driving got them stuck...

As is, though. i would have called it for Minotaur, despite the missing wheel. If that wasn't enough to count him out, it shouldn't have been any more damning than WD's missing wedge. if WD had stayed aggressive, I would have said they won. but as it is.... no. I would have gone with a double DQ when minotaur lost his wheel at the same time that WD got stuck.
I love both these bots, but this match was a mess. FUN, but a mess.
If getting stuck on that upper deck doesn't count as a loss, then they should just remove it.
I don't understand why they fred Witch Doctor. As much as it had the advantage, it suddenly lost control while Minotaur could still move.

In the past history, bots stuck on the wall or floor have been counted down and determined to be knocked out as they are. I would like to know the reason why the decision was made to salvage the stack and win this time.

the competitors did what they could, it was the referees that broke the rules; not only did they do an unstuck (which can be done under certain conditions) but they shouted timeout timeout timeout before mino could hit and thus free witchd. apart from the damage witchdoc would have taken from a fully spun up 55er drum hitting their rear freeing a stuck bot also nets you big agression points. and any unstuck must first be counted down for which did not happen.
The only condition for unstucking is if both bots are stuck to each other.
@@Bender789456123 the unstuck rules are in 7.5.13. if you are stuck for 20!!! seconds the referees can call for a timeout. and the team needs to declare its stuck state and the referees can then decide to unstuck based on situation.
