    I inherited my father's 1999 MX5 NB 1.6 (50k miles with keep-fit windows) a few years back - it's only just a little bit more sophisticated than a knife and fork, but is a car that talks to me every time I drive it. It is worth next to nothing, but is a laugh a minute whenever a corner is in sight. It's also 'just' insurable for my 2 eldest (21 and 22 years old), so they can enjoy the thrill of analogue motoring. One thing to note if you are looking to buy one, the timing chains need replacing around 100k miles and it is not a cheap job as the whole engine needs to be taken out to do it.. looking at least 2k.. so factor that in if the chains haven’t been done. I’m starting to flip some cars for profit to try and start in the motor trade, and went to see a peugeot 206 cc….the roof didn’t work, there was mould all over it, the guy only had the green slip, no MOT, zero life in the clutch & the guy selling it told me to ‘Rev it up to the limiter, it sounds great!’

    A note to anyone thinking about buying a convertible with hope that it will rise in value. True story..... about 20 year's ago I was doing a job in Wisbech and eash day I would pass a classic car dealer and on that forecourt was a pale yellow E type convertible....stunning I mean proper stunning. The price was £10,000 every fibre of my being said buy it..and do you know what I did? Purchased a three year old Audi A6 1.8 petrol.....because that's the sensible option........bugger sensible look at the classifieds now to see what the V12 E type is worth now.....don't be an if only.....just do it....follow your dreams.

    • @DiscoFang
      @DiscoFang 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    another genuine lol at the Peugeot . . . . .
    as mentioned in the Golf R comments, I should have fell in love with the TTS but after 5 months i sold it i just never felt any warmth or love for it.
    It lost some of the playful nature of the basic 2.0 TFSI i had before it. i love a DSG but i just felt it was not well matched to the higher power TFSI and was always in the wrong gear either too slow and dim witted to change when required or just too keen to kick down when not really needed.
    I think the extra weight of the 4WD and DSG dumbed down some of the play full nature and balance the basic 2.0 TFSI manual had also the MPG difference was huge (over 40 with ease on the basic car) The basic 2.0 TFSI was more engaging and fun without the risks if that makes sense.
    Now i would like to try a Mk3 TTRS for sure.

I.e. Elvis car.. 🤣😂 you also get a 310 litre boot space and we easily get beach chairs, umbrella and food and stuff for the day down the beach for two without any problems. That’s incidental more space than the current Z4 model and almost equal to many bigger cars.
