    I don't speak for all Spurs fans but 8th was our worst finish for over a decade, I don't think any of us accepted that as the new normal. We finished sixth after selling Bale. 8th was massively below where we should have finished that year if Conte didn't have a mental breakdown.
    Having said that, I think 5th was fine, realistically we should have finished above Villa, but given injuries and the first year of a new system it was a good year overall.

      Good summary. Could've definitely finished fourth (arguably should've) and the poor performances at the end of the season (not results) were the only real disappointment in an overall positive season. Still good reason to be optimistic for this season

      We had 4th in our grasp but did we deserve it? Not for me. I think those first 10 games made us look better than we are. If it wasn’t for that start we’d have been 10-11th or something along those lines.

    I don't want to be a d**k about this but just a brief amount of research would show that Brentford were unable to agree a payment structure for the deal with Leeds, which is why the transfer broke down. Spurs had a player (Joe Rodon) that Leeds wanted, so made the deal more amicable, as Spurs gave Leeds a good deal on him. I'm a Spurs fan but Gray didn't change his mind and suddenly choose Spurs, it was that Brentford could not agree the transfer structure.

      Yep even Madrid have been signing young talents from Brazil and developing them into superstars. You have to have a good mix of already established players and young players to get anywhere. You can't have an aging core and expect continuous success so going younger and getting players with high ceilings is the way to go. It's more sustainable, and allows us to compete more frequently.

    I think Gray becomes a rotational breakout star this season and within a couple of seasons is a megastar by 20-21. He could be one of the best midfielders in the world for a decade. Not to mention talents like Bergvall, Donelly, Devine, and Hall in the midfield. Tottenham have adopted an attacking philosophy throughout all their teams with a desire to build channels for youth development and ultimately a title and trophy winning side. Tottenham are truly rising and Gray can be part of the heart of it.

    About our midfield, Ndombelly already out (🙏🏼), Lo Celso, Gil, Solomon, PEH at the exit door, plus Reguilon and Royal. We aren't going to get Gallagher, and with the addition of Bergvall and Gray, we have a well stocked midfield. We could see new first team additions from the academy - Donley, Scarlett and Santiago - plus a new striker specially if Richarlison makes the big money move to the Saudi League. Gray will get sufficient minutes, starting in the cups and definitely some in the EPL.

    I don't know why so many clubs are scared of putting money into foreign youngsters for lesser fees. There is a beauty that it helps homegrown quota and culturally... the player is likely to bed in really well and just be off to a flyer as compared to bringing in a Uruguayan wonderkind. But it is still surprising. English young talents are so so expensive.

    I'm just listening at the start almost about Gray leaving Leeds and the feelings around that. There are a couple of things in play here, it seems. Yes, Gray has an amazing affiliation with the clubs history. I saw Eddie Grey play, and he was quality. But the boy has ambition, and Leeds know at some point, they will lose him, so why not when there can be a matter of Joe Rodon to consider. He could easily have been sold to another club, but just as Leeds and fans had hoped. Leeds retain Rodon permanently .

    As a lifelong Spurs fan I just need to interject: we don’t play this amazing brand of high energy attacking football people keep saying. If you actually watch us we’re like England. Lots of the ball and little end product. Horse shoe football. I don’t see a plan or a pattern. Sometimes I see chaos, I’ll give you that, but not amazing attacking football. The real Spurs were the team you saw after the first 10 games.
    As for Gray, my Leeds supporting mate isn’t that fussed. Reckons he’ll be another Jack Clarke for us.
    Personably I think 40m is a big punt for a kid that’s had 1 season in the first team. But as long as we sign 2-3 top ready made players like Eze, Toney, Ederson, Olmo, etc, then I’m ok with a few punts on talented kids.

    I hate when pundits reference 1 game against the big 6 as a barometer to say a player was/is great. Spence had a MOTM performance against Arsenal and has been a big flop at Spurs.

      Spence wasn't asked for by any manager. Big difference. He was a club signing for a club that employed a defensive minded manager who disliked youth.

      Why not sign Gray? we made the mistake of signing sess who didn't develop the way we wanted. If we want players to develop the way we want then we need to start getting them signed at younger ages to develop them into the player we want. Plain and simple really. Gallagher is 24, or 25 already so he's already the player he more than likely ever will be basically what you see is what you get with gallagher.

    quite honestly, the same old strategy from Levy/Spurs, I'm sure this young guy is a good player but we need proven players who can move the team on, not one for the future, who, in the eyes of Levy and the only reason he wants them, is they have a sell on value. Brennan Johnson, another example of Spurs buying a player that's added zero to the team, 40+ million for a player who is probably at best, a bottom six PL club player. This doesn't move spurs on one bit.. And I'm afraid the affable, likeable Ang is just another Levy lackey, just happy to get his chance at a bigger club. football wise last season he got properly found out! trying to play a style of football that he didn't have the players to play, continuing to play in a way that teams sussed out, we were predicable.. He's a bit like Kompany at Burnley, protecting his brand.. Spurs are a pathetic embarrassment, all the trappings of a big club with a small mentality, rinsing the fans every week/season

    • @pyrrhusepirus7181
      @pyrrhusepirus7181 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Johnson statistically is better than Nico Williams that everyone rates highly, and so is Werner actually. you have to look at the minutes played and output, not games played and output. All the nonsense of needing to score against the Big 6 is irrelevant when there are more teams at the bottom of the table to beat. If we beat every team outside of the big 6 we win the league easily. It's the points that are dropped to those outside the big 6 that count the most.
