@@Andrew-zo9dq We have and they are doing well like Udoggie , Papa Sarr , Micky Van De Ven and whether you like B Johnson or not as player he finished the season joing third in the league for goal involvmens . Archie Gray and Bergvile are generation talents, we beat off Barcelona, PSG, Dortmund , Mancity , Liverpool , Man Utd and Liverpool to sign them. It is not only up to these to players whether or they fulfil there huge potential ,it is also up to the club to give them a chance and a pathway to fulfuil it.
I actually believe that one of the main reasons for Ange's appointment is that he's going to make use of the academy. I imagine that the club recognises the talent in our youth system and actually had that as a requirement for him. That also could be why players like Udogie had a breakthrough season and the reason that he played academy players in the FA cup. Good signs...

His problem at Spurs wasn't his talent not being recognised or used, but his attitude was arrogant - something he has more recently admitted; saying he needed the wake-up call and has changed at Sporting. Apparently Spence is spoiling his career prospects with similar attitude problems. A player needs confidence, but arrogance is detrimental to development.

As a Forest fan... and one who BECAME a Forest fan (in part) because Spurs "stole" Teddy Sherringham from Forest in 1992 (I was too young and too new to soccer to know that transfers are normal) I have always hated Spurs more than any team out there. But now that both Brennan Johnson (1 goal in the friendly vs Hearts) & Djed Spence (1 assist AND 1 goal) play for you, and now that an Aussie manages you, you are my 3rd favourite team. And since Crystal Palace are my 2nd favourite team you guys are the only team I like who have a serious chance of top table. COYS!
Honestly, do not under-estimate the power of a right flank with Djed at RWB and Brennan at RW. It got us (Forest) promoted. And they have both improved, both have insane pace and both have top-tier ceilings.
So nothing to do with silverware or glory. Makes sense.

I do like how Ange is giving chances to young players in FRIENDLIES. He ensures that the environment the youth is introduced to isn't too stressful. With the recent game against Heart, he did a mass substitution with his younger stars. They won 5-1. With 4/5 of the goals coming from the academy. Lucas Bergvall had an assist.
He did the same last season.
The problem is he didn’t give any of them a chance last season even when we had loads of injuries. We had massive problems at centre back for instance and he didn’t play Phillips once or even Dragusin very much, yet played Skipp at left back.

I don't think losing 2 players who go on to first team football is the massive indictment you think it is. Every club has plenty of examples of players they have lost in the academy. That's the cost of a game that only allows you to field 11 players on the field, you can't keep everyone.
Yep. Edwards very talented but got himself sent off for the Sporting RW/AM in April, so maybe still struggling with his attitude problem? Maybe also why Palace have bid just £15m for him. And Spurs' 35% sell-on clause would rake in £5m of that!.

Jack Clarke was signed from Leeds, he was from York and didn’t go through Spurs Academy.
Spurs also got gems who I feel are forgotten, Veliz and Solomon immediately come to mind. I am sure they will both tear it up this season

All senior clubs have a good list of Academy talents who left and have flourished elsewhere. After buying Gray and Bergvall, how much room is there for Academy players to get into the first team? Not much?
There is 11 positions on the pitch you know gray and bergvall are both centre mid and versatile

We have heard it all before about our Academy, and also the “we are buying the best youth out there” as part of a “rebuild”. The end result has been that very few Academy players are good enough and never make it to the first team. If they do then they never fulfil their potential. The other side of this bullshit is one trophy in 24 years.
Thats the part that many Spurs fans ignore because they are balls deep in delusion.
You do realize this is only ange's 2nd season with the team. Even the best managers in the world don't win trophies in their first season.

yeah but that was mostly down to the position our academy was in at the time, he turned us down because he didn't see much of a future with us.

I'm of the opinion that developing the Academy is the only way to a bright future but most of the Spurs fans I know are more like Conte on this if nothing else. Like most, I'm a massive Ange fan but I'm not sure I totally agree with the contention that he sees it this way otherwise I think we would have seen more of Dane Scarlett last season. Sure he likes young players but if we want to change the effectiveness of the Academy we have to give these guys a meaningful chance not bringing them on at the end when a game is already lost. I admit to being a bit of an extremist on this issue though. I went to see the under 21s last season when they played at the THS and wanted to go and see them at Stevenage but I couldn't navigate the ticketing. I hope the message of the video is right. I think we will know the answer by Christmas. COYS!!

@@QuotidianStupidity: The change is that Spurs are no longer a 'stepping stone' club for players intending to move on to the giants of the game. We have the infrastructure in place and are now building a squad that will hopefully lift us into that elite group. The EPL is the most difficult league and we'd probably have been nailed on CL qualifiers anywhere else, but there are no trophy guarantees - as HK belatedly discovered upon joining BM - but as long as we are playing entertaining footbal and challenging for trophies I will be happy.

We were playing exciting, attractive football and topping the EPL until we let WH come back from 0-3 down to equalise and we reverted to caution.
