Nice,I'm a huge spidey fan and actually I watched all of this ultimate spider-man cartoon, but last time I saw it was when I saw the series finale, I never re-watched any of it since it ended, I would say the best season was season 3 that was the closest time this show felt like a spider man show to me, but overall this show wasn't for me but I'm glad to see some people loved it, it's great for me to see people enjoy anything spidey related, although I'm not a fan of this show but I enjoyed your video about it, l like arrow so I understand how does it feel to like a show that so many people hate 😀😊 anyway, I love you bro, keep it up, your videos are awesome

I will say the later seasons of Ultimate I believe have aged better than the first. But I will always appreciate this series for introducing me to new heroes. White Tiger will always be my favorite to come out of this show.

I loved this show on watch and rewatch, don't get me wrong I was stoned the entire time but it was seriously enjoyable. The deadpool episode was amazing, the spider verse episodes were top tier. The pirate segment was beyond hilarious. Never understood the hate of this show.

So when Ultimate appear, it kinda get the impression that the show was suposed to replaced the Spectacular Spiderman, to sell toys, wich end up made most fans raged
However, i think when times goes on, and when the 2017 Spiderman cartoon appear, a lot of fans now appreciate Ultimate Spiderman more nowadays

There’s a reason this was the longest running Spider-Man series and was brought over to the comics and even had a crossover with the main 616 spidey it had a bigger impact than people realize
I like that they tried to do something different and unique that no Spider-Man show ever did before
A better explanation is that Disney had a lot of money and spent it on with no hesitation on Marvel. Ultimate Spider-Man sold toys well and got a sizable audience of kids who were entertained by anything with Spider-Man in it because this was the only media featuring Spider-Man outside of comics.
Quality does not equate to quantity. Kids were desperate for Spider-Man and this show gave it to them for over 100 episodes. But that does not mean it was good.
What? You mean Disney (a company that owns Marvel) had a crossover where Ultimate Spider-Man (a Disney produced cartoon) met comic book Spider-Man (also owned by Disney)??

I’m glad someone is talking about this show in a positive tone finally. I grew up on it and always here terrible things about it. Thinking back, this is probably the reason that I actually became so interested in comic book movies. I know it isn’t for everyone but this is probably my favorite take on Spider-Man ever. So glad to hear someone else loves this show too

As you said, highly underrated series! I think why so many people hated this show was the comparison with Spectacular. I grew up on the 90s show but missed out on spectacular when it was airing and honestly......ultimate wasnt bad at all to me. It reminded me of a superhero sitcom which was funny and kinda unique at the time. Most memorable episode for me was when Spidey and Wolverine switched bodies.

this series is a series that changed my personality a lot, when this series first aired in my country is 2014. 2014 was a bad year for me, my best friend has passed away and every day I always get bullied by my friends, I become a irritable child And when I watched this series I started to feel that I'd better solve all my problems jokingly like Spider-Man

This reminds me of Andrew Garfield being disliked among the 3 Spider-Man actor portrayals before (No Way Home Spoiler) his appearance in the new movie. Everyone didn’t like Andrew because they still wanted Tobey and didn’t want Spider-Man changed so opinion on him was manipulated. In this case, Ultimate Spider-Man was Andrew and Spectacular Spider-Man was Tobey.

I really liked this shows version of the green goblin. His voice and laugh were great and he was genuinely threatening when ever he showed up. I also think it’s cool that the goblin serum is made from from a combo of venom and Spider-Man’s DNA.🤷♂️

I just finished ultimate Spider-man and Caution! unpopular opinion: I think it's miles better than spectacular Spider-man. The art style looks way cooler, most character designs are on point, the cameo of Stan Lee was just insane and everything about the web warriors and the symbiotes was fucking amazing.

The episode when the team was leaving Peter's home always hits home, I always felt Peter and White Tiger had great chemistry to be a couple and I thought they were going to end up together.

I have a big soft spot for Ultimate Spider-Man. Even when I first watched it, I found it enjoyable. It's not the greatest Spidey cartoon, but it has more than people give it credit for. I think the comedy and wall-breaking dialogue actually fits Spider-Man's character. The rest of the cast is pretty good for the most part. I know fans hate that MJ got symbiote powers, but I think it's a nice adaptation of the character. It at least has some proper build up. This may be a hot take, but this show has my favorite version of Scarlet Spider! Seriously, everyone is overlooking his development from being Ock's slave to a hero. Heck, I even wrote a short fan fiction about him! Another thing I want to mention is the Ultimate got pushed aside unfairly when the 2017 Spidey cartoon came on. I know fans hated that Ultimate replaced Spectacular Spider-Man, as well as all the other new cartoons that replace the old ones. But the thing is I feel like Ultimate was also a victim of that stunt considering the 2017 series came soon after and is arguably worse. The new show kinda took Spidey in a poor direction with Horizon High and all those stories like the Superior Spider-Man arc. Not to mention the animation was really bland. Anyways. I give Ultimate an overall 7.5 out of 10.....if that's accurate.
Ultimate Spider-Man didn't end because Marvel's Spider-Man though. Ultimate had an actual finale.
I'm in the middle of a rewatch for this show rn and I love it. I agree with everything you said. Im in the age range where I grew up with the 90s spidey show but completely missed the spectacular spider-man, so I really liked this take on him. It was fun watching him interact with other heroes his age regularly, and introduced me to a lot of them that I never knew before. Sorta gave me the same feeling as watching the young justice heroes. I like all the different team ups we got with different avengers, wolverine, and that one deadpool episode that was especially entertaining. Need more hulk & spidey interactions in my life lol
I liked how Peter and MJ had the “I like you but I don’t know how to say it” kind of vibe, they have a lot of shuttle flirty scenes
This show gets far too much unnecessary hate. From my memory, I remember loving binging this show. I loved the Spiderverse from the last seasons. I understand the Ultimate Spider-Man show is nothing compared to the comic series of the same name.
I currently watch this show after long days and just chill out, was so happy when I saw it on Disney+, I agree with all that you said, despite Drake Bell's drama I wish this show was still going, instead of another reboot.

I loved this show, I found it interesting that Doc Connors still had both his arms in season 1 but eventually lost one of them in the finale of season 1 when it was crushed during Goblin's attack on the Helicarrier and then he became Lizard during season 2.
Just finished watching this whole series with my kids yesterday and the algorithm hits me with this? Wild coincidence but great break down. I agree the humor was a bit much early on, but watching it with little kids I really appreciated how wide the scope of this show was. The older nerds got huge comic events played out and the kids got "haha wolverine smelly" jokes.

Ultimate Spider-Man was not nearly as bad as we all make it out to be. But compared to its peers, two of which are unequivocally great superhero TV, yeah. Not anything to write home about. Not anything to bash.
If you told me Ultimate Spider-Man will only be remembered for not being that bad, and not for its voice acting, stories, writing, etc., that would not surprise me.
It was in my opinion I'd rather watch Spider-Man 3 a million times over then watch this putrid peace of s&@t.

I loved this spidey soooo much. May have been because i never watched the other cartoons and just watched every Movie to that point for the 17474747 time instead. And in my mind we would not have had Spiderverse without this. I could be wrong but the spiderverse was first introduced to me in this series and i was blown away.

Spider-Gwen did appear in the show in the Return to the Spider-Verse arc of season 4.
Season 3 had the first Spider-Verse arc introducing Noir, 2099, Medieval Spyder-Knight, Miles Morales, Spider-Ham and Peter as a Spider-Girl with Goblin as the main villain becoming Spider-Goblin with Spider DNA.
In season 4 we got the Return to the Spider-Verse arc which saw the return of Noir and new spiders like Spider-Gwen, the Vampire Hunting Blood Spider, Web Beard the Pirate and the Cowboy Spidey named Webslinger with cameos from the others including a cameo from Spider-Punk with the villain being an Evil Peter Parker named Wolf Spider.
One of the highlights for me is Doc Ock, not only is he intimidating, he's also voiced by Tom FUCKING Kenny.
I swear Ultimate Spider-Man is actually one of the most underrated not only Spider-Man series but in the animated section of Marvel series as whole and most people hated this series just because there is no dark thing happen to Peter (though on the later season.. there is a scene when Miles Morales show the main Peter the grave of Peter Parker of his universe who are killed by mutated Green Goblin thus Miles Morales decide to replace him as the new Spider-Man which is actually quite frightening for kids to watch.. not to forget about I remember being terrified by Doctor Octopus slowly went from normal person with a mechanical limb attached into his back into a horrifying cyborg and Green Goblin become a demon) which actually not and never necessary to make a good story contrary to what people believe nowaday (I am looking at you Zack Snyder).. it is also hated due to Spectacular Spider-Man legendary reputation (I am not saying Spectacular Spider-Man is bad.. it is one of the greatest animated series I ever watch but it sure have set a bar higher for the audiences that liked it so much.. hoping the next Spider-Man show to be just as good as it).. in my personal opinion.. it may not be as good as the previous Spider-Man series come before it such as 1994 series and Spectacular Spider-Man to some people but it is personally great or at least enjoyable to me (some of the comedy essence in this series actually did effective to make me laugh and the artstyle was quite accurate to the comic).. it have a charm of its own.. simplified.. I immensely enjoyed it on a cellular level when I watch it on Disney XD back then

Gotta correct one thing. Donald Glover wasn't rumored to be cast as Miles. HE WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR HIM. See, there was a viral campaign for him to get an audition for the part of Peter in The Amazing Spider-Man (which the Community clip was a nod to.) That, along with the Obama presidency, led Brian Michael Bendis to wonder why Spider-Man couldn't be black, and thus he created Miles Morales, who debuted in 2011.
I don't love or hate Ultimate Spider Man. Though it did inspire a comic book I've been working on that's been in long development ever since I was 12. Spiderverse is a high point for the series and I loved the christmas episode. Great video man and I can't wait to see your video on The Spectacular Spider Man

Mary Jane was written really well in this show as well. The Spider-verse arc is one of my favorite to rewatch, lots of awesome voice cameos in those episodes!
The 4th wall talking to himself thing. Even tho a lot of the jokes don’t land with me is a cool homage to how Peter is always kind of described as in his own world
I'm a huge fan of this version of Spider-Man, both my sons 7 and 9 love it too. I personally love how whimsical and funny the character is and yes I love his thinking out loud jokes.
Thank goodness, finally! A positive video on this series! Your thoughts pretty much reflect my own on the enjoyment of the show. I think it’s easier to digest as a reimagining of Spider-Man rather than a straight up adaptation due to all the variables probably unfamiliar toward casual audiences. I found it fun and endearing
My first interaction with any superhero show was "Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends" which I believe came out in early 80s. This show represents my image of Spiderman 😀.
There were other shows like Spiderman, Ultimate Spiderman, Spectacular....
I have enjoyed all of these shows.
What I like about these shows is that all these shows had a little variety and difference in the character of Spiderman.

11:50 We actually did get Spider Gwen in the very last Spider Verse episode during the Wolf Spider arc. Peter & Miles go back to Miles home dimension & find Gwen there as the resident spider hero after Miles left. I’m glad to see see someone else say good things about this series since this is the Spider-Man show I grew up watching, not Spectacular Spider-Man & not the 90’s Spider-Man even though I’ve seen a quite a few episodes of that show.
I got my 7 year old brother into this show recently. I watched back when I was in middle school on occasion and I really enjoyed the balance with humor and seriousness. Personally, even looking at the show nowadays, I don’t understand the complaint to the humor. Like you pointed out, I’m also in introverted nerd and I of course fantasized of being Spider-Man and during those times I was alone with my thoughts, it was pretty much as whimsical as the show itself. Also with the whole thing about his quips being a defense for his insecurities, yeah that’s something I understand, hell even Spider-Man PS4 got that too. When Norman fucked over Otto, Pete made a bad joke and apologized saying he has a tendency to make jokes in tense situations. I think we can all take a note from that and try to lighten the mood from time to time because let’s face it, life sucks nowadays. But like show, it’s important to know when to take things seriously and be mature. I’ve never seen Spectacular SM so I don’t really have anything to say on that and yeah he’s gotten a couple upgrades in this show, it’s not as overcompensating as MCU Spidey and I never felt those upgrades he got in the show were all that distracting. He barely uses the bike after the first season, he still needs to refuel his weebing from time to time and the watch is just a phone that does break from time to time so they also took the opportunity to de-power him and cut his ties from backup, forcing him to overcome challenges on his own. Idk I just don’t think these popular complaints are all that big of a deal, or at least as big as people make them out to be. Anyways, sorry to type out a whole essay. I got my 5 year old brother into this show too. I used to watch this in middle school as well. I loved the Spider-Verse episodes and every Doctor Strange episodes were good too imo. I always liked Doctor Strange's weird personality for some reason. And Nova was cool as hell too.

I never new people hated on this series. I´m from Mexico and around here it was pretty succesfull, everyone I new love the show and the dub fixed a lot of the compleins with the voice acting in my opinion. I will always cherish this show for what it bring to the table and for all the laughs I got every time spiderman destroy the fourth wall.

I loved this show. Never seen Spectacular Spider-Man (and do not plan to), but since this was mostly based on the Ultimate Universe, this is one of my favorite Spider-Man series ever. They really handled things so well. The writing, the characters, the stories, the cameos, the hidden special messages, the drama: it just had everything.

I loved Ultimate Spider-Man when I was younger. I did grow up with Spectacular Spider-Man but this show was good, and got better with each season. It also got me hooked onto the Ultimate Spider-Man comics

This is one of my favorites spiderman series I really don't understand why some people hate it this was the series that introduce me to the spidyverses and other characters like Myles morles and spiderman 2099 before into the spidyverses not to mention the Deadpool ,Wolverine episodes and my favorite adaptation of Doc ock and Green goblin , Agent venom and Ben Riley
I love both spectacular and ultimate spider man, each for their own reasons, like spectacular was a good plot focused show which still kept spider man true to his nature, while ultimate was more of an adventure ride with the quippy, 4th wall breaking, teenage spidey which did have a few minor plots and slow character development, but overall could be watched from any episode without getting very confused, and helped see more of spider man along with different MCU characters as it was more for entertainment than plot.
Honestly I like Ultimate Spiderman more than any other animated Spiderman show.

I watched this series when I was younger and rewatched the whole thing more recently and I was very happy about it because usually the shows I used to watch dont actually hold up, but I still really liked it. Unfortunately for me, when I went to look for videos of it (and the show after it that I watched when I was done with this show) everyone absolutely hated it and all I could find were videos on how bad people thought it was. So, its refreshing to see someone like the show!

I just can’t stand watching it while hearing Drake Bell’s voice in that lead role. It’s really depressing because I do have some positive memories of this show
This is easily the most underrated cartoon about the character. I feel like people were mostly just sore about Spectacular getting cancelled in favor of this show, and most people never seemed to watch past the first season, which is where it really started getting better. Between Ben Riley’s arc, Agent Venom, The Goblin story, and the Spider-Verse, this show actually had a lot of genuinely great stories that nobody ever seems to pay attention to. It changed up the status quo and covered a lot of new and interesting ground compared to most Spidey shows, all with great animation and some honestly great writing.
Bro, finally someone is actually giving good vibes and rates to this show. I believe the hate is due to the expectation of the cliche storytelling where Peter is always a solo act with has romance trouble either with Gwen or Mary Jane. But this show is focussed more to a younger audience maintaining most of the characters' roots but telling their story in a different way. One good example of this fact is the symbiote Spider-Man origin and the symbiote main host to become the black suited Spider-Man. I found that arc quite interesting. With this show I was introduced to characters I've never know before, and I found it amazing. Thanks for your honest review!
I'm the older audience that this show wasn't aimed at. I was in primary school when the 90's show came out, so I have no business even knowing about this show, let alone liking it. However, I really enjoyed this show and loved the alternate take on my favorite comic book character. When many shows were trying to be adult and gritty, this was just fun. BTW, I just discovered this channel and I'm enjoying it as well. Shout out from South Africa, bro.

I grew up with this Spider-Man series. It's always gonna have a place in my heart, and I love how it showed so many other heroes I had previously never heard of in it.
This show was one of my earliest exposure to marvel and will forever be my favourite marvel show
I really enjoyed this show and they also had completely different takes on some of the well known characters. The art style and the character designs were incredible and it was fun seeing spidey interact with marvel heroes and to have shield be a big part of spideys career like in the ultimate comics.
Honestly I love these versions of Nova, Iron Fist and white tiger. Power man was a good choice for the team too

It does have flaws but hey what doesn't have flaws, it's how the flaws are dealt with that matters and as you said it may be them reacting to fan complaints or whatever, but they definitely got better at making the show over time.
Yes I agree ! Also I would add the playful tone lend itself to tackle marvel less serious stories, as you mentioned with spiderpork or that episode with Thor as a frog
I’m not gonna lie, this show definitely had its moments and good story lines but it just got a little corny to me. I know it was for kids but spectacular Spider-Man was as well and that is one of the best Spider-Man content ever imo. But nonetheless, this show wasn’t all that bad. Great video👍🏾

Here's what I am wondering, are Kids (by kids, I mean ages 7-12) aloud to watch and enjoy The Spectacular Spider Man cartoon show? That may sound dumb, I am just wondering, if Adults watch enjoyed Spectacular Spider Man, can kids enjoy it as well?
@@warknightxl2167 I mean I would think so. When it first came out I was like 6 yrs old and i loved it. My little brother is 12 now and hes in love with the show. So imo I think kids can enjoy it. They might not get every plot point but kids will enjoy all the action scenes and some of the jokes as well.

I liked this show man I honestly feel it gets treated like teen titans go but this ain't that childish.
This show emphasizes Spiderman being in the Marvel Universe but doesn't focus much in the Spiderman lore, but it's a fun series it features every known and obscure character in the Marvel Universe.
And despite being set in the "Ultimate" universe, aside of some designs and etc, it feels more like the main 616 universe.
Also that time where this Peter travelled to the real Ultimate Universe where Miles is now the main Spider after the Peter of that universe died.

This show is good I loved how it had given us a orignal story for EACH character and its not just spiderman alone Spider-Man and many other characters
I honestly liked this show, it reminded of "spider-man and his amazing friends". I definitely felt like it had a few missed opportunities and at times it felt like it focused too much on spider-man and not enough on Peter Parker, but overall it's just something I can go back and have a good laugh with.
Yeah, and more as a Marvel Team Up series rather than being well the Spiderman of the Ultimate Universe (just some of the characters had the Ultimate designs, the rest either classic 616 or even MCU designs).
Honestly my only problem was I thought it was gonna be like the comics but when I take that away I don’t hate this show
Ultimate Spider-Man was one of the best shows of my younger years. Loved it. After this I'm going to find a way to rewatch it again.
seriously though my favourite part of this show is that unlike other oeters when this peter is shown incle ben he doesn't get sad but it makes him a lot more string and determuned and it gives him the power ti defeat his foe easily

We actually did get a Spider Gwen in the series.... during the "return to the spider verse" episodes (there was also a revisit to Noir's and Miles's universe and a visit to a Pirate Spidey's universe if I recall correctly).

I grew up with this show, and I loved it! It makes me so sad that it gets so much hate, because it was different. Yeah, Danny and Luke were aged down. So what? It's how I got into their stories, and I still like rewatching the show to laugh at teenage heroes being teenage heroes.
People find the humor crappy, but that means it's just not for them. Please be kinder to this show, because some people still enjoy it and don't want to screamed at about how much it sucks-
I just started this series today. I am not a huge Spider-Man fan but I enjoy the character. Paul Dini, is an amazing writer, and I found the pacing and the balance of humor and stakes and drama were beautifully done. Paul Dini has written incredible episodes of Batman TAS so he sets the bar pretty high for himself. I also love the portrayal of Aunt May so far. I want to be her! The clip of Deadpool got me to check this series out and I am glad it brought me here.

As someone who watched both the spectacular Spider-Man, and enjoyed this show, I agree with everything you said. I wasn't a big fan of the cutaways, they were honestly pretty annoying and I didn't miss them when they were gone, but they were usually pretty short and the rest of the show was pretty solid. All this comparison between the shows is almost like apples and oranges- 2 different companies, with different writers, at points in time with very different climates; the only overarching thing is spiderman himself.
So I'm with you, this show was enjoyable, not amazing, but enjoyable. And that Agent Venom love, WHOO, hell yeah!

5:49 I'm quite certain this is what they intended. If you remember the Deadpool episode, Spiderman wonders if he would have ended up insane like Deadpool if he had let his humorous masking of insecurities overtake his character.
Luke cage and iron fist getting a show not long after appearing here can’t be a coincidence almost like they were gauging interest in those characters and using this show as the test
I love this series. I love almost all Spider-Man cartoons but this one is one of my favs. I love everything about it and I like how the show ended. And around this time I wasn't watching TH-cam that much and never knew there was a lot of hate. Even my dad liked this show. I like the gadgets Spidey has and that he has a team. Kinda like Spider-man and his Amazing Friends series from the 80s where he had a team on there.
This show also did something unique by giving classique villains redemption arcs something I see very little in Spiderman media Witch makes the show unique to the others. perhaps with the return of the ultimate universe they'll bring back ultimate Spiderman TV series universe one can hope.
i liked ultimate spider-man, had a diffrent storyline and we got to hear spider-man's thoughts! like in the comics we have speech bubbles, but yo can't have that in a cartoon, so having spider-man break the 4th wall was really interesting
I was a Spectacular Spiderman kid, but honestly when this show came out, it caught my attention more than most other shows. To the point that I regularly rewatch USM, but haven't watched Spectacular Spiderman since I first saw it. And a lot of that is because of the supporting cast in the OG team! Everyone but Nova's characters were picked so they could breathe new life into a somewhat failing comic series, according to Jeph Loeb. Which got more people into their characters, even if they had to change a lot because of sensors or too long of an origin. And then there's Nova. Nova, or Sam, is one of the few original characters to this show, and he's named after Loeb's deceased son. Because he's new, they had to pick characters to base him on for interactions; mainly Johnny Storm, but a bit of Richard Rider (The previous Nova). Then Sam got his own comic series, and supposedly is able to act a lot more how his character was intended. The two characters aren't all that similar.
It was a different show to what people were used to, and it was exciting for me, at least as a kid. And it still has the best Deadpool cameo I've seen in a long, long time
See I love the ultimate comics, I love this version of Peter/spider-man and they actually have times to show seriousness about some situations like when goblin takes down the helicarryer or how he learns of the clones, only thing i wish was that it was an actual adaptation of the ultimate comics but it would have maybe had a different rating if they wanted it completely even near the end with the death of Peter Parker and how miles would take over the mantel of Spider-Man
Ultimate spider man is one of my fav shows ever. I personally consider it a masterpiece. They picked a niche and excelled at it. Ultimate spider man wasn't just about spiderman , it was more about peter and the people around him. It did a grand job in introducing people to characters like iron fist and nova and was really entertaining from a comedic aspect without hurting the core story. I LOVED the 4th wall breaks, it was one of the best things about it imo. overall amazing show, one of the few show i'd give a solid 10/10

It is one of my favorite animated Series. I still remember the first time i saw it. I've watched every single episode for more than 10 times and it is still great.
I grew up with both spectacular and ultimate spider-man. I appreciate spectacular’s more mature storytelling and action as well as it just establishing who Peter Parker really is. And I appreciate Ultimate’s lighter tone and comedy as a nice contrast to spectacular’s more serious tone. Ultimate also introduced me to the broader marvel universe and even introduced me to my second favourite marvel superhero (or anti hero) Deadpool AND introduced me to the concept of the Spider-verse and my favorite spider-man, Miles. Btw I was around 8 when I watched both so honestly it was a win win for me.
11:52 in season 4 they did another spider-verse special which was a 4 parter instead and that actually included Spider-gwen.
While flawed and stupid with how they decided to make Spider-Man break the fourth wall and remove Eddie, I gotta admit I like the show. Even my brother likes it.

I started watching this when I was about 10-11. It is what made Spider-Man my favorite Marvel superhero of all time. If I hadn't been introduced to the character that way, I don't know what opinion I would have then today. All I can say is that Spider-Man is the ultimate superhero.
