- NAMM 2015: Uli Jon Roth stops by the Jim Dunlop booth to surprise Bob Cedro and Bryan Kehoe. He sits down and plays the new pedals from Dunlop Manufacturing. Uli Jon Roth was a member of the German band Scorpions.

He sits down on a rig that has nothing to do with his and from the first note he plays you can recognise him effortlessly because he has so much sound on his own hands before any equipment kicks in. We can't thank you enough Uli for your masterpieces and your adorable personality.

Les Wadley thanks so much man! It was just luck he stopped by and we were loaded and ready to record even with the GoPro. Sadly the battery on the GoPro died while he was playing but we got some good stuff.
Could you see Clapton or Page walking to a random table at a guitar convention and start jamming to no audience? That’s what I love about Uli, he never let fame go to his head.
absolutely! when he was in Moscow last time my friend from the middle of Russia was running late to meet him before departure, and everyone was trying to hurry him up, but he just waited when that guy arrived, signed CD, took a photo, hugged us and only after sat in a van! absolutely easy going legend!
They have nothing really to shred about, just a simple common pentatonic solo...

I love that the first thing he wants is a super heavy pick, and how his playing reacts to each and every twist of a dial.

Uli is still searching for different sounds and is able to apply his style in any of them. This is so rare for an old timer, shows a continuous will for development and exploration and that's one of the things that made him a legend.

@@Rockstar-lx2li So every time you heard someone playing great at namm you'd run over immediately.Because I'm sure there were a lot of great players there. To be quite honest his playing is nothing Spectacular here sounds like any good player.And yes I am a Uli fan.

This video is from very long ago but, It came up in my feed again. So I’ll comment again. I wrote this in another comment here.
Uli came to my home town (El Paso, Texas). Sadly this town is a little ignorant. He came to a bar, I think it’s closed now, but in Mesa street. Only
About 30 to 40 people showed up.
I was a little sad to see him play in such a small venue but…
After the concert, he and the band came out of the bus and signed autographs and took pictures. Uli is so gentle, a very nice and down to earth man.

Ah, he is so unique and special. I like the way he has not changed since 1970s - his looks and passion for music. I wonder if he has ever collaborated with the late Ronnie James Dio the great (RIP). It would have been awesome. I have been a big fan of Allan Holdsworth. The end was so sudden... I wish the great musicians like Uli long life!

So relaxed and such great groove. I am embarassed to say I discovered him much later and can hear where all these guys like Malmsteen and Schenker found their inspiration from. It's so obvious even if they then went and put their own spin on things.

I shared the video with a couple of my guitarist friends. I also went and purchased Uli's albums on Google Play. I have loved his work before I even knew who he was. I have all the Scorpions albums, and it is their early albums that really shine, thanks to Uli.
