  • Pearlweed Aquarium Carpet with No c02. Aquarium keepers use the plant known as pearlweed to get a carpeting effect in their fish tank. This plant has a perfect foliage for the carpeting look. Use a nutrient rich substrate in your aquarium and this plant will grow great.

Hi all I'm looking for some advice I have a co2 system and as you can see two none return valves one on the incoming and one on the outgoing pipe from the bubble counter, but they never seem to work the water inside the bubble counter always ends up getting pulled into the tube supplying the co2 to the bubble counter I've tried a few different none return valves but I don't know how else to sort it. It's on a timer but with the water inside the tube obviously it take a while to get the co2 into the tank. Any thoughts?
It has been awhile but I do recall using 2 check valves on my line to the bubble counter once when I found water in the line at the regulator. I was using black tubing. I eventually did away with the bubble counter and just went straight from the co2 regulator to the diffusor. One check valve at the top highest point same as your black one in the picture and a second one lower about 10" away from the regulator, always a drop loop at the regulator. I also tried pancake check valves, I kind of like them better. But they do sell brass check valves that are supposed to be for Co2. But I never found that I needed one, the 2 check valves seemed to work well for me.
Hey everyone, just wanted to share some results from a bit of a strange test I've been doing this week. I took ownership of a friend's 40 gallon tank that he had let dry out with fish and plants inside of it which is horrible but anyways I decided 7 days ago to just fill it up with my tap water and run it instead of cleaning it just to see what would happen with the water levels. So after testing today I was a bit shocked with my results. Ph went up from 7.2 to 8.2. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and between 40 and 80 on nitrates. Not entirely sure what this means as I expected to definitely see ammonia. Not sure what caused the Ph spike. I have 3 small plants and a big piece of established driftwood in there already. Would this tank already be considered established based on the water test minus the alkaline ph reading.
When you can dose your tank to 4ppm ammonia and 100% of it is turned into nitrates within 24 hours you have a cycled tank. Anything else means you don't.
Yeah well I don't have plans to put fish in here. It's strictly a plant setup but I do plan on adding amano shrimp and some assassin snails. I have 4 other tanks for fish haha. Just want more plant space so I decided to see what would happen for fun. Still curious about the ph level spike and lack of ammonia.
I never said I was adding fish. This is my 5th tank and will be used strictly for the overflow of plants in my other aquariums. Just did this to see how different the water parameters would fluctuate during the establishment process.
I need information regarding HOB filters. Please help. Do we always have to put water in Hang on back filter when power cuts off? Or it will resume automatically? According to my understanding filters with pump inside HOB don't flow water after power cut off. And filters with pump in the tank or attached with input pipes work fine and resume automatically. Please guide. Thanks in advance. I think it depends on if the pump sits on the inside of the tank in the water or if it's outside. If it's inside it will take the water up as soon as it has power, if outside it needs water added.
Hey all… got 6 new pea puffers and drip acclimated them for an hour, well the parameters matched good but when I added them I noticed the water felt warmer. Bucket water was 70°F, and the tank is 78°. All look fine but should I be worried about temp. Shock? I feel so bad.
This is my 75-gallon tank. It's been setup in the same place for 20 years now. 21 in June. Before that it was in two other locations so, in all it's been around in some form or another for 30 odd years. 1 year the plants lived in a backyard pond over the summer when I was renting. It's been run filterless, with filters, with and without CO2 with better and worse lighting but it's been here operating continuously for over 20 years. It doesn't look its best now, nor its worst.
I almost gave up due to Java Moss infestation, you can never really get rid of it once it gets in. I had to remove any wood or decor from the tank now, so it's just plants, gravel and a few cherry shrimp.
Aquarium pearlweed plant carpet with no use of C02.
It's setup to be low maintenance and I do as little as possible to it. I refer it it as the most expensive and complicate mood lighting in the world. The pumps and apparatus are in the basement and have been for years. Any other tanks that have been setup for more than a decade in the same place?

Wow, topic aside, I love your set up. A full shelf of tanks surrounding your TV. Cats are a bonus! Great job!

Dude, what is your power bill like with all of the lighting, pumps, filters, etc? I love your setup but afraid of power consumption.

Keep up the videos!. Think I'm gonna try a 20 long with this stuff and a center piece. Gonna go no CO2 might take a long time bit I think it will be worth it
