Have you ever been to Moldova? Please share your experiences. Was it good? Do you know why it is the least visited country in Europe? We have no idea why...
I will tell you why ,every visitor that goes to Moldova have the same logan (Least vizited Country ) based of informations from all others vizitors they copie each other and i hear all comments about history and political situation that are not correct they should not comment about that if they dont have proper information as ortodox religion has been practice in communist regim also ,Moldova was part of Romania that has been split after 2 nd world war and in Romania is the other part of Moldova
yes i live here i am moldovan there are some people that hate rubbish and poor countries and the most people write bad things about it because of its past etc.
I've now visited Moldova twice in the past two years. The first time, I stopped and stayed a few days in Chisinau while en route from Kiev, Ukraine to Brasov, Romania, and the only reason I had placed Moldova on my travel itinerary to begin with was because a friend back home came from Moldova. I knew virtually nothing about the country except that it had a long wine history and that it was the least visited country in Europe. But after that visit, I was smitten. Its capital Chisinau might not be as grand and vibrant as many other popular European cities -- in fact, in places the city is quite rough around the edges, with many streets and sidewalks in obvious dire need of repair -- but, the city still has its charm. Echoing what your guide said, the people really make the difference and make one fall in love with the place. And like you, I had the same positive experience with the Moldovan tourism center. In both of my visits, they were helpful beyond belief and so warm an personable. I never would have made it to Brasov without their help. I was so enchanted with Moldova from my first trip that I planned a second visit so I could be there for a week during Moldova's National Wine Day this past October. This time I roamed beyond just Chisinau, including stops in Transnistria in the east and Soroca in the north. And this second visit did not dull my enthusiasm for the place. During the festival, I was happy to encounter other tourists who were likewise both surprised and pleased by what they found in Moldova. I'm sorry you had a unfortunate experience in Tiraspol. I visited Transnistria with a wonderful local Moldovan guide who not only provided that little extra security but who was also a delight to be around. In addition to the tour of Tiraspol and Bender Fortress, we also stopped to buy fresh fruits from locals on the roadside, went to a huge 'hyper' mart to get cat food, had lunch at her favorite place in Tiraspol (which was really very, very nice), made an impromptu stop at a winery, and even picked up a couple of bags of wood pellets for kitty litter for her cats. In other words, the day was more like a day out with a good friend than a day spent with a paid guide. And now I look forward to a return visit. For a country that many have sneered at as being not worth the trouble to visit, it sure has me hooked.
Wider awareness of this amazing country is to be welcomed. Living and working in Moldova as an English person is a privilege. Moldovans are incredible people and to know this country through their eyes and experiences is a privilege. This is a young country but an ancient nation. I understand the premise behind your travel vlog and pleased to see that you found the beauty, energy and spirit of this country, but it would have benefited from more substance behind comments on history and the current political situation. Tourism is needed here but not the type of cheap mass tours of western Europeans looking for cheap alcohol and stag/hen weekend experiences such as happened in Tallinn, Prague and Krakow. The beauty of the countryside, the intellectual cultural life, the agriculture and viniculture is unique and needs care as Moldova inevitably changes and becomes more prosperous and more well known. Eco-tourism and a balanced approach is needed rather than the mass influx that has blighted other Eastern European countries. You didn’t fall into the normal hackneyed script of Moldova ‘wine, corruption and poverty’ but Moldova has problems it needs global solutions to especially losing its people. Countries like Ireland, Wales and Armenia can show a way forward in utilising diasporas and creating jobs, infrastructure and hope for young people. It is why I am here working in education. Next time you are here would love to show you other places.
Hi Rob! We have been to Tallinn and Prague and I completely agree with your assessment. In addition, I think that the way that foreigners exploit the cities and the cultures that had been built up over the centuries has left a bitter taste towards the tourists by the locals and has created an environment where the tourist are looked upon only as a pocketbook as opposed to an opportunity for a true cultural exchange. I really hope that Moldova does not get exploited although I can see how that is easily possible. It is a great country with very welcoming people. I hope it stays that way. Not exactly sure when we will be back, but we would love to see it though your eyes next time. All the best!
There is truth behind the tag, " wine, corruption, and poverty" given to Moldova, although its also true of how a beaitiful and young country is struggling to make it happen for the better, being the younger generation its biggest and most worthy asset. Same as in saying that the massive cheap tourism brings more damage than benefits to any country, and this type of trashy cheap tourism in europe is courtesy of the english tourists. So Rob, you seem to really appreciate Moldova, and its interesting and quite positive to see people like you, that through education can make a change in society. I ve spent some time in Moldova and believe in its bright future, and regarding tourism, all it needs is an older, wealthier crowd, and more investments from abroad, to make it appealing to the wealthier crowds, perhaps 3day wine tours, more bed and breakfast facilities, and health spas, just a thought.

Great to see this from the POV of trés cool older folk like you two (and my hubby and me). We are South Africans and were already planning to visit "The world's most unhappy country and least-visited European destination) before the world shut down. I like the sane, sober, non-sensationalist approach in your narrative and am now even more determined than before to go there next year, incorporating two days in Chisinau into a low-budget, seven day Eastern Europe itinerary.
Enjoyed seeing a different side of Moldova than what I recently viewed from another TH-cam (was more of the underbelly of Moldova and stark contrast to what you saw). Unfortunate that that the post Russian politicians basically bled the country dry of it's monetary resources and glad to hear that the young are looking to invest in their country and work towards bringing it back. Hope one day it will join the ranks of must see countries. The monastaries look fabulous.
Hi Tommye. We heard the same negative side as well. We thought about mentioning it, but we chose otherwise. It had nothing to do with what makes the country interesting from a visitors standpoint. The country and the people are great and that is what matters.
Thanks Pat! Tell your friends. We are trying to get WorldTowning to the masses. The world needs more travel and global education. Thanks for being part of our community. Big kiss.

We’ll show you around and provide you with a home-cooked South African meal, in China!😂
Alexander Pushkin lived in Chisinau for a certain amount of time, no wonder Chisinau has a street named after him. Moldova was a part of Russian Empire before it became one of the USSR republics.
Yes! Our country is losing sight of what it was built on and we need to get back to the land of opportunity and open arms, but yes, we experience freedoms many do not .

Moldova and many Eastern European countries need a fair chance to recover from past wars and...... What's more these countries are poor. I hope oneday everybody in the world has a clean flushing toilet, basic shower, enough food to eat and a form of shelter. Just basic needs. No wonder many of them want to come and work in Switzerland. Although they are not wanted here. If working here they are shocked by Swiss prices. Also as they do not speak good English and one of our national languages so they earn peanuts. Either cleaning a house or kitchen work. This video was very interesting. Thanks. .
I hope these countries that are in poverty get these basic needs that much of the world enjoys as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. We truly enjoyed our time in Moldova.
@@nooneanybodyknows1321 I surely understand this point. It is unfair and awful when world leaders and politicians squander the money excessively in many countries. If one looks at the entire African continent we see a good example of this. Maybe small Malawi is an exception. Have a great weekend and kind greetings.
Very interesting! I had no idea of the cave monasteries! Guess you need a lot of faith in God to visit them on the edge of rock formations! So how old do you think they were? It’s nice to see the young ppl trying to make there country prosper. Good video! Thanks for going there and taking us along
The cave monasteries were so unique. I am not sure how old they are, but old for sure. I think I remember the guide saying that they are still discovering them under other plants and rocks. The young people there were amazing. Young people give me so much hope.
Hey interesting video I've been to Moldova beautiful country I went to Chisinau my favourite parts of the city were the arc d triump square and gardens, Stefan cel mare park, Valea Morilor Park, Soviet memorial, then went to Old Orhei love that place favourite part of Moldova really beautiful gorges, caves and Russian churches and then went to Transnistria which was really interesting a throwback to the USSR Tiraspol and Bendery were really cool I went on a day trip from Chisinau as I don't speak much Russian haha, such a strange place Transnistria how you have to go through border control. I really enjoyed Moldova I'm glad you shared your view of the country in a positive light I liked it as it was just so different to anywhere I've been before plus no ones heard of it. I'm actually going to Ukraine in a couple of weeks as well as Latvia, Ukraine is another country that isn't visited as much should be fascinating I'm going to Kiev and day trip to Chernobyl exclusion zone
The Eastern Orthodox faith is Known for highly ornate churches the thinking was and is if you talk to the believers that you give your best to God, so the local believers would donate the best they had in their homes to the church and the churches end up being very ornate.
I am totally watching your vlog in order to see if I want to go to Moldova via RV. WTing made me add Kosovo to my list....I would like to know where you are staying.
@@WorldTowning There are many Christian Turks in Moldavia, they are more Turkish than us. I met some of them and they are amazing good people. Maybe they carried the Middle Asian motifs to there.
Moldavians are our brothers from north. They speak Romanian, so they're Romanians. But the USSR (Soviet Union) - in the ugly fashion in which big empires behave - have stolen Moldova from us, along with Basarabia and Bucovina. All of these territories have spoken Romanian since the beginning of time, but with enough deculturalization and psychology you can turn brother against brother and make child murder his parent. It's harsh, but it's true. I am from Craiova, but I consider Moldavians north Romanians, nothing else! Hopefully, one day, we will be whole again... Also, I enjoyed watching your video. Hopefully you will make a return to both Moldova and Romania, cause there's plenty more to see in here than what's presented in travel guides.
Moldavians are NOT romanians. Moldova is 550 years older than Romania. I have read the history of Moldova, with simple research anyone with a brain, will notice that Romania was first a province in north turkey before 1800, as you can see here official map made by historian Mathew Carey. There was no Romania in Wallachia, Moldova, or Transylvania. Ottomans have invaded Wallachia and occupied it for more than 400 years, changing its name to "Tara Romaneasca". Romanians immigrated, stole the part of Moldavian Land and the Moldavian language, and called it "Romanian" language and rominian state only after 1881 It is MOLDAVIAN language, It is called MOLDOVIAN since 14 century for your knowledge. Rominians share the MOLDAVIAN language since 1881 because Rominia annexed only part of a Moldovan territory with Moldavian language, and Valahia with valahian language, where Rominia and rominian language were born by Rusia at 1873 -1881. Actually, the Republic of Moldova is another part of MOLDAVIA, is an independent country with MOLDAVIAN language. Not sure. We randomly walked into the tourism office and said we wanted to see the "real" Moldova and what should we see and do. They offered to take us around for the day. So an 18 year old high schooler showed us the land.
There is a whole fanbase of youtubers from US and UK especially comming to Belarus, Moldova , Ukraine for the communist aspect and soviet history dabblers . I wouldn't say it's not visited
We know it is visited, but overall it is a very under visited country. It really is such a shame, it has so much to offer and we will gladly return one day.

While I would love to go to Moldova, as there seems to be so much to see and do and taste and drink. People to meet. Rich in history and culture. I see the deliciously appealing pastries stuffed with cheese or potato. Looks so buttery, flaky and delicious and you liken it to and actually compare a traditional dish of Moldova to Waffle House hash brown in bread????? You were joking right? The entire video was so unprofessional, which I actually loved by the way. Little teaser snippets of food, wine, traditional clothing, art, religion, the people the carpets. And then... you compare a local traditional food to Waffle House fare. Thankfully Moldovians, at least 99.9999% of them, have absolutely no idea how much this was an insult. "Reminds you of grandma's home cooking?" Sure. But Waffle House? You can't be serious! I am so thankful the remaining content was so beautiful I am still inspired to visit. Thank you so much. And I mean that seriously. Waffle House, really? No really? I had to go back and watch again just to make sure... and... you did. So 100% did compare it to Wawful House. I went to FL. 3 years ago, and just for white cracker-trailer-trash nostalgia reasons, I went to a Waffle House. I couldn't even eat it. It was crap. I apologized to the waitress and told her I wasn't feeling well. It is what it is and there is no sense in complaining about the quality as there is none. Left her an outrageously large tip. Please go back to Moldova and apologize to those beautiful people. ...........Wawful House.
@Super Mario I am glad to hear that really, I personally every time I visited the conversations I've had left me with a less then positive impression. Long story short the Romanians I talked to were blaming US for "choosing or siding with Russia" when it was not the case and they didn't had an understanding of Moldovans/Romanians
@Super Mario I understand and and agree, yet somehow all of that is now directed towards us Moldovans blaming us for choosing to be with Russia, when we did not we had no say in this matter. That is the feeling I got from talking to some Romanians
@Super Mario Și aici este un răspuns mai complicat, unde Românii nu înțeleg 1. Societatea din Moldova și 2 situația politică de atunci. Eu m-am convins că Românii nu sunt bine informați despre Moldova
Seem to forget there a country thats belgium, but french spoken. So.. worse than holland in hospitality..but same prices..and nothing..of interest whatsoever. You are welcome. We loved our time there and will definitely be back.
Moldova is such a beautiful Country! I cant understand why everyone underrate this Country 🇲🇩
Your vlog is a real treasure! Thank you!
Thanks Pat! Tell your friends. We are trying to get WorldTowning to the masses. The world needs more travel and global education. Thanks for being part of our community. Big kiss.
Such a great adventure. I wasn't even sure where Moldova was until I watched this. Looks like a great place to visit. -Henry
Same here! Definitely getting a geography class RVing Europe. See you soon.
Awesome channel you guys. We are a homeschooling family and have just moved to China to start our adventures.
Your vlogs are really informative and inspiring!
Thanks.
Can’t wait for the next vlog!
Thanks!!!! Happy to have you in our community. How is China? Our plan is to visit in 2020! Next vlog is Transnistria, super wild.
World Towning China is great! A little weird at first, but great. Very safe, very friendly and massive😄
We are doing a little family blog, mostly to share everyday experiences with friends and family. Let me know if I can share the link with you.
When you come to China, see if you can visit QingDao, which is a tier 2 city on the East coast. It’s a very clean city with beautiful beaches, fresh affordable seafood, a lot of German influence, and a great climate.
Look us up when you plan to visit! We’ll show you around and provide you with a home-cooked South African meal, in China!😂
Alexander Pushkin lived in Chisinau for a certain amount of time, no wonder Chisinau has a street named after him. Moldova was a part of Russian Empire before it became one of the USSR republics.
Happy Independence Day.🎆 A nice reminder just how good we have it.🙏
Yes! Our country is losing sight of what it was built on and we need to get back to the land of opportunity and open arms, but yes, we experience freedoms many do not .
Very informative video. Ya'll are awesome
Great vlogs 💪
Wow, that amazing cave monastery tho 👀
I know! It was so interesting to see it. We are loving the fact that rarely visited places have so much to offer.
👁👃👁 I think is awesome what you guys just did to put Moldova in the map 🗺
Well done guys well done 👍

You guys are really great. Also fun to watch.👍
Thanks Brett! I keep telling Will that we are so much cooler on vlogs than in real life. Wink!
Really enjoyed this vlog, thanks guys!
Thanks. Hope your RVing adventure is going well. Will you go to Moldova?
We are still in Lithuania and loving it! Moldova wasn't in our initial itinerary but we think we may just need to get a Green Card sorted and add it!
Heyy i saw you today on the market in Les Vans i was saling some vegetables we speaking like 15 mn very nice video keep moving good travel !
Hi Brian! Thanks for checking out our vlogs! Love the veggies. We will be back next week! Have a great weekend.
Love from Malaysia ❤️🇲🇾
Thank you!
I totally would have bought that hat!
We don't plan on being in cold weather ever again so our next hat will be a sun visor. Ha.
Moldova and many Eastern European countries need
a fair chance to recover from
past wars and...... What's more
these countries are poor. I hope
oneday everybody in the world
has a clean flushing toilet, basic
shower, enough food to eat and
a form of shelter. Just basic
needs. No wonder many of them
want to come and work in Switzerland. Although they are
not wanted here. If working here
they are shocked by Swiss prices.
Also as they do not speak good
English and one of our national
languages so they earn peanuts.
Either cleaning a house or kitchen
work. This video was very interesting. Thanks.
.
I hope these countries that are in poverty get these basic needs that much of the world enjoys as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. We truly enjoyed our time in Moldova.
I share your hope and refrain comment as the President of my country wastes millions on his ego party today.
@@nooneanybodyknows1321 I surely
understand this point. It is unfair
and awful when world leaders
and politicians squander the
money excessively in many
countries. If one looks at the
entire African continent we see
a good example of this. Maybe
small Malawi is an exception.
Have a great weekend and kind
greetings.
AMAZING thank you guys..
Loved Moldova!!!! Thank you.
I like the tour guide girl and the story about young people who want to give their country a new face and new lease of life.
Right, so cool. The young people in the world are doing amazing things. Love the 20 somethings.
We absolutely loved Eastern Europe. It is such an overlooked part of the world for tourism. You will love it in Ukraine.
Love from the UK.
Excellent video!
Is it easy to contact locals in small towns?
I would love to meet elderly women and see how they cook, ect.
Here is the video that you all need to understand Moldovan people in small towns. th-cam.com/video/50pQHccrlHg/w-d-xo.html
The Moldovans drivers are very risky drivers. Please be careful
Thanks, what a fun and interesting country.
Exquisite church you visited.
Although highly ornate.
It was gorgeous! Yes, very ornate and over the top for sure.
Awesome, thanks! Hope they are helpful. Where we staying in Moldova or Kosovo? PM me.
Some of figures on carpets and dresses looks very similar to ours in Turkey.
I totally agree. The carpets were amazing, but would not fit in Lemonade. Ha.
@@WorldTowning There are many Christian Turks in Moldavia, they are more Turkish than us. I met some of them and they are amazing good people. Maybe they carried the Middle Asian motifs to there.
Your are wonderful i hope you return to Morocco 🌹
We are going back! In December we will be back. We loved it so much there. We will vlog all about it again.
OK, Asconi Wine Fest here we come! Can anyone tell me if there are cool places to listen to local bands/musicians in Chisinau?
i love the DOVE!
How are you able to look down that cliff???
Is it was a bit scary! It was more dramatic on video than in person.
that hat is very good on winter.
I call Moldova "The Dove" (like he dove in the pool)
I love the Dove!
and Alexander Pushkin is one of Greatest poets, try it
Your video's a really great and you don't look Bald and Bankrupt :)
I appreciate that. The last thing I want is to get views at the expense of another people's culture. All the best.
За 3 года в Р. Молдова все изменилось, даже за год есть изменение
Изменение к лучшему
I want to go to east europe, Is it easier/cheaper to go to chisinau from kiev or bucharest?
Honestly I am not sure. We did it by RV so it was quite easy.
There's many flights from other cities in Europe...
😊👍🍷
You forgot cheese! Wink.

Go to school and study more MOLDAVIAN Constitution, art.13, and legislation, my dear mate...

No I never found out by the way you guys inspired me to walk the Camino thankyou so much
Oh, that is so sweet. Glad our vlogs were so helpful. The camino is magical. We will do 5 days on Le Puy in two weeks and we will vlog it!!!
The next trip you must do is visit pakistan, it will be an eye opener for you. Check out youtuber like eva zu beck
Kristen and siya . Trust me The best experience you will have the food people the scenes. Trust me.
How much was the tour guide?
Not sure. We randomly walked into the tourism office and said we wanted to see the "real" Moldova and what should we see and do. They offered to take us around for the day. So an 18 year old high schooler showed us the land.
That fur hat with Soviet emblem is a ooshanka.
😘😘😘
Moldova is not the least visited country in Europe. San Marino and Faroe Islands have less tourists
@@WorldTowning Yeah . I'm romanian but I never been to the Republic . I told myself I should visit next year though . Many of us come there to buy stuff because it's cheaper than in Romania . ( except for electronics mabey )
If i heard the lady right that church IS TOLLEST CHURCH IN MOLDOVA is 16 Years HIGH ARE YOU DRUNK OR WHAT ?
Thank you for your visit, The Romanians have a high and mighty attitude towards Moldova.
What a shame, being neighbors we should love one another. Our country is struggling with this as well. It breaks my heart.
Actually Moldovans are Romanians same for that land, normally belongs to Romania but they become heavily rushified.
I live there...I dont thing that it is an amazing country at all
You must go pakistan.
Seem to forget there a country thats belgium, but french spoken. So.. worse than holland in hospitality..but same prices..and nothing..of interest whatsoever. Obviously when we leave all the Reports to EU (yeah sure 110 feminism index a nd unemployed 3,7#) and other lies, walonia gets the least visitors, not a doubt in my mind.
Moldova was and is and it will be Romania.
just take a look a the courency please... o... and the flag
