Hi mate, brilliant review - I was looking forward to seeing yours! Yes she is a beauty - and yours runs perfectly, which is always nice! :D All the best, Sam :)
Thanks ever so much Sam. Was a tad worried about the running I must admit. ;) Over the moon with the running capabilities. Amazed by her haulage power too. Many thanks indeed :)
It's been. 6 years now sinds you reviewed this nice loco. Have you run it often, and what's your experience in the long term with it? Some people had complains of a bad motor, or one that degraded very fast, what's your experience? Enjoyed your video, thanks for making the effort.
Awesome review as always mate, she surely does look like a nice model, despite the errors. Your one performs nicely unlike some peoples :/) All the best mate, Mark :D
Good review as usual Callum, I think its a great model for the price, I am waiting for BR black version. Have read some scathing reviews , one in particular on MRF that said it was the worst RTR model release in ten years. I am sure Oxford put a lot of time and research into the model, they must have based the model on a photo of some sort of the loco in that condition surely ( I am now going to look through my photo collection) and I wouldn't blame them if they walked away from even trying to satisfy the extreme rivet counters you seem to have over there !!!
Thanks Stewart. Really has been a can of worms this one. It a shame about the errors, but feel some peoples opinion one what is right and wrong have been a bit too harsh in places. On a whole I think Oxford should be praised for having a go, even though it's not quite right. From what I understand these locos saw many changes through there service lives, in some ways no two were the same, I've heard one or two people quote. Which is extremely hard for a manufacturer to do. Of course errors like the cab do stand out, but apart from that, for me anyways like yourself I think it's a nice model for the price, especially with how it runs :) Many thanks indeed!
Nice review Callum. Was really looking forward to this model but I'm disappointed with some of the design flaws on this model. At this time I will be looking at other alternatives for my ever growing locomotive fleet. Won't be putting money towards this at this time. Nice video as always and thanks for sharing.
Great review of the Great Western Dean goods mate : ) This is much better then compare to the Hornby Great Western Dean Goods. The detail of this model is excellent, but as you said about the cab and fire box are not the same as the real locomotive as well the green paint is not underneath the boiler is bit of a shame as it would been Oxford Rail best model. If I get one in the near future, I'm think of buying the plain GWR green livery. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Joe! Really is a nice little model. Is a great shame about the errors, but hopefully one day it will be sorted. Must say the GWR one does look quite nice. Many thanks indeed.
Nice review of what has become a contentious release there Callum, she does look nice but now the errors have been pointed out ( not just here) its hard to ignore them. Selling at £89 it's not too bad I guess, will I buy one??? at the moment no.
Thanks Mike! Yes, it has just a tad. Which is a shame. Hopefully one day the errors will be sorted, the long list on RMweb, was just too long to get into one video :p For the price you really can't complain though. Glad you enjoyed!
Brilliant review! It's nice to see this model being produced, but in my opinion its not quite there. The "polished brass" of the chimney and dome just looks too bland. I don't quite understand the painting of the underside of the boiler either! The handrails also seem to be painted green at the smokebox, which surely is not prototypical! It's unfortunate that it's these tiny, small things that let this otherwise great model down...
Nice review. However the Oxford model contains so many basic design errors that its a poor representation of the Deans Goods at any time during it history. Oxford will need to do so much better if they are ever going to challenge the established companies. "In pursuit of excellence" Oxford are having a laugh.
Thanks. Yes, it really is a great shame. Been following the long list on RMweb. Hopefully one day they will get it right and finally catch that allusive "Excellence", that keeps on slipping away.
Sorry Oxford Rail , no cigar and the try isn't even nice. Your designers need arresting by the accuracy police. Hope the criticisms will act as a quick learning curve though , when you next bring a model to market . Dapols resurgence proves that if you get most things right , you will be a "player" in the hobby.
Indeed, there's still along way to go. Hopefully one day they will get there. Though they certainly have got the running right, pleasantly surprised by that.
This model isn't very good. Look at SamsTrains' review. His first model wouldn't even run properly. He got another that works better. Nice video, anyway.
Need, watch his first and second review, the first one certainly was worrying, but as you say he managed to get it sorted. Just seen he's left a comment too :) Many thanks

Same here mate. Oh yes! Would love to see a video of it when you do
SDJR7F88 I'm sure I will do a video of it once it arrives. Will check out your video of the show in a bit.
I just want to get this engine now as it just looks so good.
Oh yes, certainly is very smart looking with that livery :) Glad you enjoyed

Hi there, sadly I sold this one on a few years back as it didn't fit in with my current modelling theme, so can't comment
@@SDJR7F88 Thanks for your answer, much appreciated👍
Good video Review Callum I have the sound fitted version on order the unlined grate western spelt out
Thanks Mark! Will certainly be interesting to hear the sound fitted version. If it's anything like the Adam's it should be pretty good :)
Nice one Callum, just back from SF
Thanks Rob. Hope you had a good time

Thanks mate. It is a really shame it's not 100% there. Really could of been something. Hopefully one day they'll get it right :)

Thanks Lukas! True that. Really is a shame about the errors. Yes, they are green. Which is very noticeable. Hopefully one day they'll get it right :)
Nice review.
